    Thanks for this very helpful review. I’m glad I have just 36 mi on one new pair of Boston 9’s and another untouched pair in a box, both purchased at discounted prices. I have no need for the Boston 10 but am very intrigued by the Adios 6, which I hope you’ll also be able to get and test out, since it sounds more like the heir to the Boston legacy we know.

      Like you i have two pairs of Boston 9 that are probably my favorite running shoes of my collection. You will like the Adios 6 if you liked the Boston 9. The most breathable upper ever with reinforcement stripes laterally, like the boston 9 a softer front than rear and a really plush heel cup with good heel hold. As with all the previous adios (bostons are not like that) the torsion system go up to the end of your toes and add to the snappiness of the shoes. In my size 10.5 us the Adios 6 are 252g compared to my Boston 9 262g.

    Recently bought the Boston 10, absolutely love them. Because of how I run I always damage my shoes on the outer heel, but the way the Boston 10 is designed I haven't damaged them on the heels. I recently used the shoes in a 60km race, it went well until after 50km I started feeling discomfort on the ball of my right foot, I guess there isn't enough padding between the foot & the energy rods. Other than that, I absolutely love the shoe

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I give effort levels because that is the relevant metric. my belief is that, with some rare exceptions, a person running at threshold effort will experience the same things that a faster runner will feel at their respective threshold effort.
      if that were not the case, then it would be meaningless for us non elites to have the same shoes that pros wear since none of us can run as fast as pros.

    Just ordered Boston 10 & Adios pro 2, think they will be a good combo getting me ready to the October Marathon. I have more than enough shoes now, some fresh 1080v11 for those steasier runs, SL20 and 2x Adizero pro. Maybe the Prime X will be the ideal easy pace day shoe partner to these. Really get on with Adidas, Nike only seem to work with the trail series, all the vaporflys i've tried beat up my ankles, too squishy. Need to beef up the lower legs.

    This is akin to Nissan always marketing the Maxima as the higher end car to the Sentra, then does a 180 and make the Sentra the higher end car (including lowering price of Maxima and setting the Sentra's price higher). That's what happened with the Adios 6 and Boston 10. The Adios was Adidas flagship road running shoe with the Boston coming in under it,the price was one of the reflective points. Today,the Adios 6 is down to $120 from $140 and the Boston 10 is up from $120 to $140(not to mention having all the bells and whistles with the carbon fiber and rods). It seemed Adidas compromised the very reason why faithfuls flocked to the shoe with each iteration (I owned the 6,7,8,9) with the 10. Wild !

    That's an interesting shoe for sure - yet I don't think it fits in my current rotation. A little bit too heavy, not as versatile... But I will give them a try when I check the Adios 6, which might be more of a successor to the Boston series. Would you compare this to the Atreyu Artist, minus the weight? I just started using mine and find it perfect for longer workouts, especially if I am adding in some pace. And only $100US plus real light.

      the artist is a lot softer. doesn't feel quite a speedy, but better as an all rounder

    Adios 6 totally replaces the Boston 9 and older.

    Very good review. So this version is closer to the pro than to the previous “daily trainers” specs

      Yes. The Boston has always kind of sat between racer and daily trainer for me, but this pushes it closer to the racer side

      There has to be an error at Adidas’ end. They have two different colorways for Boston 10, and they state them in different drops.

      Never tried 9, as was very underwhelmed by the SL20, found it really flat and uninspiring, so stayed with my pre lightstrike 8's, however took a punt with the Adios 6 after reviews and I'm utterly impressed, fit, feel, energy return, etc it's one amazing shoe.

    As someone who is using both the New Balance Fuelcell Rebel V2 and the Asics Novablast i have to say my experience in the Boston 10 was very disappointing. The Boston 10 definitely excels at a higher tempo (4.30 per km and under) but I wouldn't say it was anywhere near as enjoyable to run in as either the Rebel V2 or the Novablast. Maybe I'll have more luck with the Adios 6 🤔

    • @kimwarner6050
      @kimwarner6050 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rebel V2 is my favorite shoe of the year, but I need a bit more support if I'm going to use it daily. The adios 6 is more in line with the original sl20 I would say it's the real V2. A size 6 women's is 6.4 oz which is .4 ozs heavier than the sl20. The adios 6 is a fast daily trainer to me. You can run slow but the shoes seems to compell you to go faster. The torsion bar here to me acts as a nylon plate b/c of it coverage combined with the extra pop from the lightstrike pro.

      See description.
      Between the time that I filmed the video and when it posted to TH-cam (in other words, overnight), adidas listed data for this shoe. But I find it hard to believe that this shoe has less stack height than the prior version.
      I’ve also tweeted about it, comparing the listings for the 9 and the 10. There’s just no way that _my_ Boston 10 is 25% heavier than spec.

    • @VJRiviere
      @VJRiviere 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got to be an error - that would give it a lower stack height than the Adiós 6 (27/19 supposedly) 🙂
