- Am I still a Merchant Mariner? Why haven’t I sailed in the last 4 months ? Well in this video I answer some of the questions you guys have been dying to know. I have been home since October 2nd 2022 & a lot has happened durning that period . With me still being a fairly new Merchant Mariner I do make mistakes but that’s why I continue to make these videos so you guys don’t make the same mistakes I did. @@shb762 aye imma put you on. When you take the physical for your mmc, go to a concentra and ask for a Coast Guard physical and drug test. Gotta be coast guard approved or it’s no good. Then also when it says something about an oath, go to an authorized notary and have them witness it and stamp it and you good. Also send photocopies of your twic, birth certificate or passport. Then pay 95.00 for the fees and print that out.

As a merch by you being in that field for 5yrs how can u say your life style is ? Comfortable …do you feel as if u accomplished a lot ?
Maybe this has been answered before but... Once you graduate from school, how do you get your first ship? Once you get a ship and say it's a 65 day tour. What's the process of getting a new ship? is your work basically a contract to be on ship X for X amount of time? Does the company pay your airfare to where the ship is located so you can work it, or do you have to buy your airline ticket there and back home once you want a vacation?
1: They assign it to you.
2: You either request a ship or you go into the Pool, waiting to be called.
3: Yes the contract is for x amount of time.
4: Depends on company. It can be the company paying for the flight home or the sailor pays his own way.
Many times either they'll pay your way or you'll pay and they reimburse you.

I am going to get with the UNION guys and find out the best Docs to hit for a physical that know how to do the paperwork. I did mine through a local physical truck driver DOT outfit and I had to stand on them and watch their every signature because they did try to screw mine up. Fly by night QUACKS. Now. Where is my MMC?
Quick question. I’ve been smoking weed for years but I just filled out my application and want to get started asap will they drug test me before they accept me into the Apprenticeship program. @@marionnichols7442 oof, that is really circumstantial. It depends on your certifications, the company, the kind of work. I started out with no certifications with a company making $300 a day and it goes up from there. You'd probably have better luck googling specific occupations.

Nope.
@@thefatmanmx To get your STCW you have a swim test. You have to tread water and we had to swim, i think it was 300 feet. You also had to swim to a liferaft and flip it and then enter it from the water. The other training will be with a life jacket and a gumby suit.
