Mine has been bad to the bone and its a goddamn tank. Eats everything I've fed it. Even chewed up rounds and the lowest quality ammo available. Ive tried about 50 flavors, give or take.
I swear by it and would trust my life to it.
Im also an Iraq war veteran. Was a Marine rifleman in the infantry and was blessed with two pumps (tours to Iraq) during its most deadly years.
Im not bragging but wanted to say: I saw tons of AKs, been shot at by them countless times and found many weapons and explosives caches.
Many of the older AKs that were beat to hell from abuse and neglect looked like they might not work, bit they did.
One of the common manufacturers that always personalize, despite lookong lile they had been buried in sand for years still kept going. Even ran across of SEALS and other shadowy typed use and caery them with beards to blend in. They all spoke Arabic too which sure helped. Working with them in in the triangle of death and went on raids with the team occasionally. Even they preferred the Zastava m70.
Id trust my life to one any day. The thing has been torture tested so many times in both combat and people doing their own tests. Damn thing will fire in the most wrecked and dirty state. Get them while we can. Yeah they're expensive but its a good investment because they will increase in value.
My two cents
There’s a cool story about m70ab2 right after the conflict in Kosovo 1999. Can’t tell is this story 100% true, but probably is.
After the war, Serbian and kfor units had a peace meeting in some village, and while they were walking down the road between farmlands they noticed m70ab2 in a ditch (probably was there for a few months) all rusty inside and out, full of dirt... Serbian officer took it, mortared it few times, cleaned the action, inserted a new mag and just dumped it into the ground. Kfor officers couldn’t believe what they just witnessed holding their fancy h&k’s(believe was a German kfor unit).
Zastava m70 is just built like a tank, simple and reliable!

@@natedog805402 I was really eyeballing the PSA too and might still get one and see how they compare. I havent heard any complaints about them. I should probably stop burning through ammo and put the money towards the PSA.
The only drawback of Zastavas is the non chromed barrel.Not a serious flaw though if you regularly clean the barrel.

@@dhakad_gaming2390 We’re in the USA. You can get a machine gun, but they have to have been made before 1985 and they’re expensive as hell. Plus, you have to pay a tax stamp that can take up to a year for them to approve. But yeah you can at this point by a semi auto rifle all day, provided you pass a background check. If you can walk or sail on a boat, get here. Good luck to you.

@@peytoncole768 PSA doesn’t belong anywhere in a “best” video. They’re a mass produced firearm company. QC isn’t good, tolerances are out of whack, and I’m pretty sure they have a chimp with an impact assembling most of their firearms.

Same here. Literally have thrown everything at it. No issues whatsoever. First thing I did was change the stock though since it likes to slap you on the cheek lol.

One he failed to mention was the Polish company WBP. Great AKs and about the same price as Zestava. They have both 5.56 and 7.62x39 aks

Without a doubt my Jim Fuller Built Russian 1969 Izhmash is the best AK I’ve ever owned.
Love my Jim Fuller Built AK-105 in 5.45 and my AK built off an Original Type 1 Receiver

I will admit I'm having some rust problems ....I clean after every time I shoot ....I'm not sure why the bolt and charging handle are rusting

Got me a Galil ace gen 2 in 7.62x39. Thing is an absolute monster and out of over 5k rounds put through it, it has only jammed on me one time.

I have a K USA KR103 and it’s good and all but started rusting 😮 my Zastava PAPM77 I got at the same gun show at the same table has no rust and they are both dated to the same year 😅 I ran them through the same surplus ammo brands and the environments. I even cleaned them the same way but the KR103’s muzzle and inner barrel turned orange 😢 I PB blaster the hell out of it and cleaned it and then oiled it. So far I haven’t noticed any rust on or in the barrel but the muzzle I took off and sand blasted it then high temperature rust oleum, added oil and anti seize to the threads for the muzzle break. 3 years later no rust so far
The PSA Gen 3 AK's are *amazing.* Once they sorted out all the issues with the gen1 and subsequently the gen2 guns, they landed on a real winner. These things have passed the AK Operator's Union's 5,000 round torture tests with flying colors, and are every bit as good as an Arsenal save for the CHF barrel, and are well under half the price.
PSA's are inherently flawed.

@@rustys.1070 I've had one as a beater gun and it has run over 1k cheap garbage ammo without a single hitch. Impressive fit and finish. Trunnions look great. High quality rivets. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing "inherently flawed" as you so cryptically state.
I've also gotten some really crappy rifles from PSA, especially their AR's back in the day where they couldn't even manage to install a low pro gas block properly. But they seem to have made some good strides in quality of workmanship.
@@DoritoWorldOrder PSA did not use the widely available public TDP (technical data package) for the AKM. They tried to reverse engineer it, but failed. if you inspect a poop sock armory rifle with over 500 rounds or so, you'll see that the cam groove in the bolt is wearing irregularly. this leads to inconsistent lockups, aka, increased jamming and potential detonation. You have very low standards, and I'm just trying to help you break that habit.
The only AK I would purchase is a modernized one without wood. All black stealth look with rails.
PSAK-47 GFE5 is the one you want. If money is not an issue then you could go with a meridian defense Volk AK
Glad to see a few people mentioning WBP; absolutely outstanding quality. The nicest AK out of the box I have seen, fit and finish are perfect, and the action is like melted butter.

My centry bft has prolly 3k rounds through it. Never had an issue. Never cleaned it. Overheated way too many times 😂 thing is a trooper
AK-47 is actually quite well designed assault rifle, as it is made to be simple and easy to clean with very small amount of moving parts, so it is quite unlikely to break even in the bad conditions. Even the Finnish Defence Forces thought that it was a great weapon, so they also wanted to make gas-operated rotating bolt assault rifle with 7,62x39mm cartridge, as the big soviet neighbor was still a huge threat to Finnish independence. The Finnish Valmet Oyj. engineer Lauri Oksanen got a Polish licensed version of the Soviet AK-47 to make even better version of it. He worked on it between 1957 and 1962 and named the new weapon RK62 as it was 'Rynnäkkö Kivääri' meaning directly Assault Rifle. Engineer Oksanen made several upgrades to the weapon like the rear sight is attached to the receiver cover unlike the most AK variants that have it on top of the gas piston housing, so that makes the RK62 even easier to disassemble. This was made possible as the receiver cover was made a lot sturdier. I have seen the AK-47 when I was a kid, but I have also served in the Finnish Defence Forces so I have shot with RK62 couple of times. In the Finnish Defence Forces the weapon is called as the soldiers wife, so I called the first rifle I got with the name Elina.
The RK62 has been manufactured by Valmet, which also makes decent tractors, but also by Sako, which is probably more recognized globally as they have made a lot of different weapons too.
Later Sako was asked to design the weapon again. The RK62 was already a lot more accurate assault rifle than RK62 with multiple upgrades that I did not even mention, but there are still lot of things to develop. So back to Sako - they added a folding shoulder, made a switch to make the receiver cover tighter, deleted a lot of weight again, added more rails and made optical sights easier to install.

Riley defense does make a pretty good Ak. I’ve had mine for about 5 years now and it hasn’t given me any problems whatsoever.

If a high level of mechanical accuracy is what you’re trying to have, the AK platform is not what you’re looking for.

AR’s are cool but there’s something I just really like about the wood grain look of an AK… I have always thought good AK’s are reliable like a Toyota… you see them both in the poorest countries countries around the world and in the harshest conditions but they both always work lol…
the last AK is egypation redesign for the AKM and it's called "maadi. the US bought maadi rifles from egypt in the 80's. it's very effective used by the egypation military untill the 90's. now the egyptaion military relay on AK47's and m4's. also the egypation military have AR's and NATO firearms (even the m16) and the AR's usually used in the near camps to the cities becuase egypt was the first country to by firearms from the both sides soviet union and the USA

I went straight into the deep end with my AK. My first and only (so far) is an old pre-ban Izhmash Saiga chambered in .308. I did pay dearly for it, and have also paid dearly having my gunsmith do a full 922r conversion.

WBP is seriously slept on. Some of the best AK designs out there for a reasonable price. Also avoid Riley Defense, they make hand grenades, not firearms.
OCCAM DEFENSE is another great option

I got a vzka from century arms to see if i wanted to get a nice ak. Now i do but a decent one in california is hard to come by. At least near me.
if youre looking to save money id highly recommend a PSA GF3. the only complaints i have with the rifle is that it doesnt come with a cleaning rod and the plastic furniture kinda sucks. two things that are easily fixed and both are cosmetic. fantastic AKMs they make.

PSA and Riley Defense definitely aren't high quality AKs.
Nothing beats Zastava.
