An often overlooked difference that you failed to mention, Brandon, is that the digits "7" and "4" are actually in a different order for the different rifles. For example, the AK-47 puts the "4" first, and the "7" second, while the AK-74 reverses this order and puts the "7" first, and the "4" second. This is of course a subtle nod to the fact that they are two different rifles, and therefor each need a unique designation.
The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where feed and seed both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Fuck and Suck".

Thank you, very good refresher! I actually never saw AK-47 before arriving in US, all the pre-draft AKs were AKMs. During my turn of service (1980-82) our AKMs were replaced with AK-74s with wooden furniture and orange magazines. I'm 14 Years old, I got into your videos since I got a STG-44 for my birthday, AKK, why not, Brandon forever! Yeah, been learning quite a bit and it's fun to watch
The annoying thing about the 74 is that it's so rare in the states. The best way to have a 74 is to get lucky and find a good parts kit and build it onto an obscure lower. Also, when you type messages about it, everyone assumed you had a typo and were talking about a 47. I hope Palmetto finally comes out with their PSAK 74 soon.
I'm a fanboy for the AK-47 cuz...........it's an absolutely beautiful rifle! Nice big ammo count in the mags, nice structure, I like how they're built, got that beautiful sound when you fire them. It's just a perfect rifle.
This was beautiful. Things that even the enthusiast might not look for. . . . Your channel is awesome, and I'm glad I stumbled onto it. Firearms have always been of keen interest, but recently I've been working on "unique" firing operations for a project. The Firearms need to be... different... than the usual or standard. Additionally, your breaking down of parts of parts is both spectacular and insightful. Your information has both bolstered knowledge and inspired resolutions to various... kinks... in my firearm designs.
Fun fact: the one you held (the replica) is actually modeled after the specific ak-74u variant of the ak-74, an ak platform rifle chambered in 5.45x39 instead of the traditional 7.62x39 of the ak47, akm, and rpk.
To be honest, the ak47 and the ak74 aren't super different but different enough for someone with the knowledge to be able to see the difference. It is like telling people who aren't into old Volvos to see the difference between a 940 wagon and a 740 wagon (the sedans are entirely different and you don't need much knowledge to pin point which one it is and you need no knowledge to see that there is a difference). This video however was super informative and easy to understand for someone like me who have only held a twin barrel barreta shotgun and only fired 5 shells out of that one. Thanks for the info and great video =)

@@PCLearnerGuy I was talking about the ones in the video doofus
6:36 thanks for that, i've had a BSOD once a day the past two days, and thought it was about to happen again.
This guy is running as a politician now.
Crazy...
Great lord of the AK's I beseech your wisdom!! I am wanting to add an AK variant to my collection but unsure which variant would be a good stepping stone. I know this is an older vid. And it was part of my research
The difference is how much you love the Soviet motherland!
Das vidanya komrade
We shall win this for mother Russia
до свидания
Do you have any idea how many Russians and other Europeans were murdered under bolshevism? Starved, entire populations genocided
If you love the "Soviet motherland" the. You're anti-russian and anti-European. Why else would you celebrate their deaths and suffering?
Russia is NOT communist you fucking idiot.
lol. Brandon used to be Wendigoon.
"I'm a fan boy for the AK74" so is everyone else who has one haha my favorite rifle hands down!
Seeing this video 4 years after it came out really makes me believe that you're Wendigoon's older brother even more than I did before
Where is the YC-47?
Cowboy McGee where is the bc-47 automatic edition
Think big YC-50
Yeet Cannon 50 that would be amazing
@@Spor7y01 I'd pay for a .50 Hi Point pistol.
Where's cv 47?
I've mostly just used the Finnish rk (stg) 62 and 95. Pretty good weapons in dense forests and easy to maintain on the go
7.62 vs 5.45 - that is the difference.
I'm 14 Years old, I got into your videos since I got a STG-44 for my birthday, AKK, why not, Brandon forever! Yeah, been learning quite a bit and it's fun to watch
holy shi he looks so different 4 years later lmao
The annoying thing about the 74 is that it's so rare in the states. The best way to have a 74 is to get lucky and find a good parts kit and build it onto an obscure lower. Also, when you type messages about it, everyone assumed you had a typo and were talking about a 47. I hope Palmetto finally comes out with their PSAK 74 soon.
Is 5.45 even viable? Like is it even available in the US in large amounts? Cause if not why not get an AK in 5.56
Thank you so so much for calling it the AKM I do not like when people call it a ak47 I don’t know why but I just don’t
I'm a fanboy for the AK-47 cuz...........it's an absolutely beautiful rifle! Nice big ammo count in the mags, nice structure, I like how they're built, got that beautiful sound when you fire them. It's just a perfect rifle.
47, big bore, big mag opening, weighs almost 8 pounds.
74, small bore, small mag opening, weighs almost 7 pounds.
5.45 is love, 5.45 is life.
This was beautiful.
Things that even the enthusiast might not look for.

Wow did not recognize it was Brandon first you are so young in this video 😅
yeah the face fat really aged him
Miss my 74. It was surprisingly accurate for an AK pattern rifle. Cheap ammo. Loved that rifle. Never shoulda sold it.
The numbers are switched, that's all! I kid, that was fascinating.
Fun fact: the one you held (the replica) is actually modeled after the specific ak-74u variant of the ak-74, an ak platform rifle chambered in 5.45x39 instead of the traditional 7.62x39 of the ak47, akm, and rpk.
6:34 don't remove the muzzle brake or you'll break the matrix.
As a Canadian who has never held a rifle this was infotaining.
Hi if u live few hours away from the border, why don't u come over ?
AK 47 : Wood
AK 74 : Synthetic
Colonel Voronin unless you have a 74 with wood on it. 47 wood hand guards have big cooling slots, 74 wood doesn’t.
@@scottmorgan133 So? The 74 will get heated easier
There are allso AK 74 with wooden stock

To be honest, the ak47 and the ak74 aren't super different but different enough for someone with the knowledge to be able to see the difference.
It is like telling people who aren't into old Volvos to see the difference between a 940 wagon and a 740 wagon (the sedans are entirely different and you don't need much knowledge to pin point which one it is and you need no knowledge to see that there is a difference).
This video however was super informative and easy to understand for someone like me who have only held a twin barrel barreta shotgun and only fired 5 shells out of that one. Thanks for the info and great video =)
4:21 “7.62 is just so dam cheep in this country” me getting into AKs with amo being 40 cents a round *crying in fetal position
The only one I'm ever gonna be able to use is the magazine ones.
It's cool to see this because according to call of duty the difference between the 47 and 74 is the 74 is just way shorter and typically stockless...
Google is easy, we just want Brandon to explain it.
