Track-Build 2015 Mustang GT - One Take

  • We like this track-ready Mustang GT a lot, for obvious reasons - brakes, suspension, chassis, then power. It is frankly amazing, how much faster you can go in this car than you could go in a standard Mustang GT, even with a completely stock powertrain. It's planted, predictable, and very, very rewarding to drive quickly.

    I know it's not the GT350R engine, but I'll tell ya what, this thing still revs pretty nice and easy when Matt mashes on it. For a significant amount of money less, you're still getting a great engine

    • @GOPACKERSJT
      @GOPACKERSJT 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      All of the current mustang engines are rev happy. Even my V6 from 2012 redlines between 6800-8000 rpm stock. Makes power around 3500 rpm.

    • @bagelbytes69420
      @bagelbytes69420 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      With an ECU tune you can raise the coyote's redline to 7500 or higher as well. The coyote also makes more torque than the 5.2 flateplane in the GT350 when tuned, and earlier in the rev range, so it should FEEL punchier and better for around town.

      PowerofMetal247 agreed! I remember being jealous of guys driving nice cars at that age. It was hard investing my time in school when all these guys appeared successful while I'm driving a shit box without a stereo. Needless to say I now have a BS in Information Systems. Currently a new Mustang GT sits in my garage that is not a daily driver, it's a toy. If there's one thing I've learned it's that being an adult is expensive, for everyone! kids are expensive, homes are expensive, health care is expensive, everything. It blows my mind how much money comes in and goes out all the while still being able to afford much more than just a car. There's absolutely no way I could live like this without an education.

    I remember this video was one of the biggest point of references I watched when I first got my mustang (2015 yellow gt). Last year I took a trip in my stang to the tail of the dragon with some buddies and actually ran into Matt at deal gap. Total full circle moment and Matt was cool as hell to talk to.

    The problem with One Takes like this is that it inspires me to say "meh, my kids don't need to go to college..." and begin cruising the classifieds for a cool project car. Damn you +TheSmokingTire, and damn this mustang!

    7:33, that's exactly how I feel. I don't have a 2015, I have a 2006, but it's my first Mustang and I'm super stoked about it. I had only ever driven measly European hatchbacks so when I started shopping around and I hopped into my first Mustang, I couldn't believe it. What a battleship it felt like. I could see the hood from behind the steering wheel! I definitely wasn't used to that. But then I test drove a few others before I finally settled on the one I wanted to get, and now several weeks into my ownership the car did shrink. It's surprisingly agile and maneuverable and just so much fun to drive. And in Europe a real headturner, because you don't see em that often. I can drive by Porsches and Audis costing 100k+ and people look at me because those cars are a dime a dozen.
    Would definitely recommend a Mustang to anyone looking for a whole new car experience. Especially if you're in Europe.

      Raced a turbo 370Z the other day on I95 and while I lost, my bone stock 2016 GT Base (non track pack, so taller gears, softer springs and less tire) almost kept up and his Z barely pulled on me. I expected to lose considering his power is likely greater and his weight is a bit less, but with some good bolt ons, and a tune, it'd probably beat it. Great bang for the buck car, I love it!

    - Ron Davis radiator w/ integrated oil cooler and new silicon hoses
    - AP Racing 6pot front/4pot rear BBK w/ new master cyl w/ 2 piece slotted rotors and Hawk HP+ brake pads
    - 18x9.5/19x11.5" Forgestar Nurburgring Y-spoke wheels
    - Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires 275mm front/325mm rear
    - DRM Bilstein dampers
    - GM T1 sways
    - MGW short shifter
    - Corbeau A4 seats
    - Tick Performance clutch MC and LS7 clutch assembly
    I'm planning to get a 6-pt roll bar w/ removable side bars, 6-pt harnesses, and a new Sparco Evo II driver's seat. I have the APR front splitter and GTC-300 wing on order, as well as CF side skirts.

      Spend more money on seat time, buy a set of track wheels and keep fresh rubber on them. If this is also your DD, get another car for the times its broken. Invest in yourself, fix the car when weaknesses appear. Don't forget you might end up smashing it into a wall and may take a massive loss on it.

      +TheSmokingTire does it really change anything bro? We already know what you are doing is NOT legally sound. And can tell from the pace you are traveling. Not trying to be a smart behind. But Adding a speedometer would make the videos just that much more enjoyable. Even if you blur out speeds above the limit. But I completely understand you not wanting to take. bigger risk

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's called evidence, homie. Being able to guess speed from a video is, legally, a world apart from actually showing that speed. That's the difference between "we're not going to go through the effort of doing math to prove this guy did something, " and "here he is bragging about these speeds, lock him up."

      no, it's a massive pain to remove them, and you lose all the sound insulation. It makes the car pretty unbearable on the road. Michael was waiting for the GT350 rear seat delete kit to come out at the point of filming this video.

      With his exhaust, he would go damn near deaf having nothing in between the rear and the cabin, just ask me how i know with my 99 with off road pipes and dynomax race bullets, and 4.10s keeping me in the rev ranges lol. I insulated my trunk to cut the resonance down so imagine a giant hole from your trunk to your cabin.

    • @kylegoodale7061
      @kylegoodale7061 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, both the bottom and upper seat sections come out in about 20 minutes. Funny that people are still buying rear seat delete kits, for $150-$200. A 4 x 8 sheet of MDF and some black felt, and you have the same thing, if you know how to use a measuring tape. Roll bar appears to be an Auto-Power unit, or another bolt in variation. The only company that makes a safe and certified rollbar is Maximum Motorsports, FYI.

      Not many people realize that benefit of California. I've been living in SF for the last few months but am moving back into the Southern California area next week, excited for the weather down there again. I also enjoy the roads a little more down south than up here. Skyline Ridge is one of the best roads I can find close to SF but I know there's other that must be up here.
