    WOW! I have watched many videos concerning side chain compression. Yours is by far, the best as well as the easiest to understand. I sub to very few channels as in this day and time, we are all pressed for free time and how to use it in a productive manner. Not only did I sub your channel, but I will spend a lot of time, going through your previous videos. GREAT JOB - REAPER ROCKS!

      Glad you've enjoyed the video and thanks for subbing. I hope you enjoy the rest of the content on the channel too and thanks for the kind words :)

    This is great, I was wondering how to make side chains in Reaper for a while to do Parallel Compression and I also use EZ Drummer 2... so this has answered a lot of my questions straight away :)

    Thank you Paul for sharing your expertise, has added years to life in avoiding mind numbing frustration. What i have found useful are chorus and distortion sends. Chorus works as an exciter and is very effective in helping vocals and snares shine.....while distortion in rock tracks beefs up snares, bass and vocals and adds saturation

    It would of been nice to have a context of the parallel compression in the entire mix.

    How did you get the bands on your ReaEQ to be on the left side of your plugin window at 7:37 ?

    Do you still compress the individual drum stems if you do parrallel compression?

    Thanks! Love it! I compress my kick drum and snare inside Superior drummer 3 mixer. I find they are great. You can really tweak it to get a great sound. Where else do you use compression and why???? Guitars? Bass? Vocals?

    Also now that i'm doing it, the original tracks don't produce any DAW sound after being sent.
    So i don't have the ability to do that dry wet mixing after the FX have been applied to the compressor track

    THANKS! So when you continue mixing the project and need to change the level of the kick are you now having to keep changing the level of BOTH tracks or is there a way to mkae the compression track adhere to changes made to the dry track?

      you could use a buss for each element - that way you mix from the busses, without having too much to fiddle with

    Hi, could you please explain to me the difference between normal vst plugins and vst3? which should i use and when it comes to installing a plugin is it best to have both or choose which one you prefer?? Thanks

    Excellent video just like all the others! So this means that I can use only one instance of my favorite compressor, EQ , or any other effect and with it I can control the amount of it that is fed to every individual track that I route through it ?

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do that if you wanted to. White any of these techniques, it's a case of applying whatever the recording needs to get the result you want. No reason why you can't use more that one compressor on any given signal chain. 😊

    So why am i meant to be doing this instead of mixing the original kick? I heard that parallel compression is like the most compulsory thing to do when mixing drums but i'm not sure why.

    can that be done with guitar tracks and would that be considered double tracking?
    thanks

    • @finsgar101
      @finsgar101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This would not do the same thing as double tracking. To double track you need two different takes (Different performances). This could however be used on guitar. It just would not be double tracking.

    Parrallel compression always gives me phase issues in Reaper. According to the website reaper does have PDC though. Do i have to turn it on in some menu?

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure PDC is on by default - Have a look at this thread for a better explanation of how Reaper uses PDC.

      Fixed it. It came down to ONE plugin that messes up your phase, and i use it in most of my parallel chains. Thanks for your response!

      Believe it or not, but watching this video I couldn't help myself being mainly focused on the theme. I knew that I could find the answer where to get it somewhere in the comments section and here we are😁😉. Just installed and it looks amazing. Feel inspired to write a new song and start recording!
