Maybe it's just the video and how it picked up the exhaust note/engine noise but it sounded great to me. Then again, I'm partial to 6 cylinders and revs. Was it really that bad?
I just got out of a 2009 CTS-V... You are right about the magnetic ride control... It was by far the most responsive car I have driven. And, it also has a boost gauge! I saw it moving about when I matted it, even got some dashcam footage of it. But, that gauge pales in comparison with the sound coming from the front and the back. But 60 grand... In 2009 that got you 556/551 from Cadillac. Somehow I feel we're being cheated.
GM, Ford, and Chrysler are really killing it these past years. Add in Tesla and I would say that this decade is akin to the mid/late 60s for American Automotive. We still have the Mustang GT350, GT500, next Ford GT, next gen Camaro ZL1 and Z/28, the Corvette Z06 and ZR1, ATS-V, CTS-V, next gen Viper and whatever the Hellcats have unleashed plus the re-focusing of the Dodge brand. After Ferrari, Jeep is easily the most valuable brand under Fiat-Chrysler, and who knows what Tesla will do. America is about to take over performance while redefining affordability and efficiency. My only worry is that eventually Tesla will need to be sold to someone else. BMW seems the most likely, but Telsa would save Hyundai-Kia luxury brand dilemma.
highjix Tesla cant afford to compete in the mass market. They found a niche and a great product, but the auto industry is hypercompetitive. In the time it takes Tesla to add two more models, we may have Alfa Romeo back in the US with 6 or 7 models. They cant keep up, so sell high and when every loves you. Tesla will still have the battery plant. Dont be surprised if in four years all models have a hybrid option and "Telsa Batteries" are as common a part as "Brembo Brakes" on cars. Plus I think the SpaceX program is a bigger deal, and selling Tesla will pay for a lot of the factory costs and push the space program forward.
They need to go ahead and make the next gen CTS V Wagon with a detuned Corvette Z06 engine in it. And the 6 speed from the ZL1 Camaro. Great car regardless.
***** these cars are getting lapped constantly all day long, and most people aren't doing cool down laps. So the brakes get moderately hot on the track, but then people come straight in, where the heat just builds, and then people go back out with them. Wildly varying degrees of skill from driver to driver, too. Michael Harley from Autoblog had the car before me, and he's very quick, and mentioned the brakes were warm when I got in. In the real sports cars, some of the manufacturers will put RBF600 fluid in, to help keep the brakes alive. Not sure if caddy did that here.
matt this is the first time ever disagreeing with you but i was at caddy and one of the service writer has a e63 amg 2015 designo packag3 and the build quality to material used and featurs r identical except for awd and a v8 twing turbo the caddy rides smoother weights less and is just as quiet for way cheaper with a tune this can destroy the e63 or any m5
Torrey B Not really when I'm actually considering both or even a Ford Raptor with a shifter kart. When it comes to cars, I like and have owned a wide variety of cars and I'm not brand loyal.
Older question, but ATS-V is more the M4 (M3) comparison. The VSport is a larger car, it's very capable though. Lightning Lap / VIR for the VSport is 3:06.8, for the 2015 M4 is 3:00.7 and ATS-V 2:59.8. I needed a larger sedan and the V3 would not be as practical as my VSport is daily for my mileage. The CTS V3 turns a 2:56.8.
I had no idea how fast this car was until I was following my sister, in hers, onto a freeway onramp and she just disappeared. I dislike Cadillac smoothing out the rear trunk, as I was a fan of the hard edges on the outgoing generation. That said, I think it will look good as a wagon and am considering purchasing one once the CTS4 Wagon is released. The big caveat is the price and interior, CTS V-sport is a $60-70K car, however the interior does not feel on par with similar priced German machines. It isn't bad, it just isn't that good and in my personal opinion the chrome bits don't help. The good news is Cadillac dealers seem to come down a lot on the price, making this an even more competitive car that it initially seems.
***** For performance car standards it's slow. You're just a fucken unsuccessful loser in life. Actually I'm extremely successful you piece of shit. Not everyone is on welfare like you. Go use your ebt card bum.
Caddy has similar cars now called the Blackwing series. You can still get a vSport equivalent and still get the old CTS-V supercharged V-8 power in the Blackwing... They basically just re-named the cars...And they STILL drive and handle better than the competitor cars from Mercedes, BMW and Audi...The BMW's and Audis drive and handle like boats, the Mercedes is better than both, but still won't handle like the Cadillacs...
"Cadillac with a boost gauge... thats awesome"
Yes indeed it is! I would love to have an all black CTS-Vsport.
Enjoying these videos Matt, thanks!
Great car. I sat in one and the interior is really great.
i am actually impressed by the way this car drives.
fuk this review series is excellent , brilliant relaxed way of portraying your driving experience to a keen listener ! great work thanks matt.
Maybe it's just the video and how it picked up the exhaust note/engine noise but it sounded great to me. Then again, I'm partial to 6 cylinders and revs. Was it really that bad?
Loving these videos Matt!
I'm loving these videos!
Why do you dislike that it's hitting redline out of turn 2? You can't expect a sedan to have gearing set up for a specific track!
Note that the brakes on this car are probably great but this was out on the track all day.
I love this car! Btw, great videos.
Has AC seats, and handles better than a few sports cars.
Great video, keep up the good work!
I like these quick vids

The Dutch Texan why did you get out of the 09 v?
cause he got to his destination
GM's been doing some good stuff for awhile now, as much as I hate to admit it.
They've come a LONG way. And that's coming from a Euro car guy.
So has Dodge err... Fiat.

Young Knives
I don't really keep up with Tesla so I don't know this but, so why do you think they will need to be sold off to another company?
highjix Tesla cant afford to compete in the mass market. They found a niche and a great product, but the auto industry is hypercompetitive. Matt - great review. I've been looking at this car.
I'm not a TH-cam commenter...but these single takes are great. Been watching them while canceling my Drive+ subscription.
Matt for 40k do you buy a used cts v gen 2, a used v sport or a used Chevy ss?
I heard Car and Driver got 4.4-4.6 seconds to 60 in this thing. Maybe it's the testing conditions.
Now its worth 32500 for trade...and you can get a used hellcat for 55k. Dang!
Same platform the Camaro is based on which is pretty cool.
thanks Matt!
well well well :)))) nice man ! good !
As a daily driver, living with Atlanta traffic, with both cars being the same price, should I buy this or a 2nd gen CTS-V (6MT)?
They need to go ahead and make the next gen CTS V Wagon with a detuned Corvette Z06 engine in it. And the 6 speed from the ZL1 Camaro.
Great car regardless.
Was that not exactly what the Cts-V with the LSA engine is? It's just an ls9 with a different blower as far as I know..
beeman4266 Yeaahhh pretty much. But the CTS V was so good!
Why change the formula?
they didn't. This is the v-sport. Twin turbo v6, they still make the Cts-V with the LSA I think.
Doubt they will be doing that, they sold like 100 CTS-V wagons in the whole year, cool car though
Whats the location of the place he drives at 3.30 please? ta
Sounds pretty good to me, but then again I'm hearing it through crappy earbuds
Buying one used. Super deal
I'm excited for the hellcat
How are the brakes spongy on big willow? Not a big braking track.

Just curious, why are there cones on the track? Is it to discourage racing?
It's to show the entry points for corners. For beginners or sometime learning track

But but but, the posers can just point to the BMW or Mercedes badges to prove their superiority... They just can't prove it on the street or track.
For the $ would you pick this over the SS with magnetic ride control (if it gets it) as a daily driver?
I like that idea - SS w/ magnetic ride and 6 piston calipers brembo front brakes as part of the 6Gen 1LE package...
***** Two very different cars meant for two very different people.
Torrey B Not really when I'm actually considering both or even a Ford Raptor with a shifter kart. When it comes to cars, I like and have owned a wide variety of cars and I'm not brand loyal.
Stig Msr I'd probably prefer the SS with a 6MT and MR over the CTS VSport. I really don't like CUE.
TheSmokingTire Thanks is the My Link any good or just not as bad as the cue?
Was that the rwd one Matt or the awd one just wondering
cadillac means rwd
henry ford Cadillac has AWD & FWD cars, but the CTS Vsport is only offered in RWD
G8Commodore no there's a awd one can't seem to build one on there site but they do make one
TheSmokingTire, how does this compare to the M4 in terms of speed and handling? Which do you prefer?
Older question, but ATS-V is more the M4 (M3) comparison. The VSport is a larger car, it's very capable though. I think the title is incorrect. It's a CTS V-Sport, which should not be confused with the CTS-V.
It seems like the names should be switched around. The V Sport should have the V8 and the V should have the V6.
Doppelkupplung Think of F-Sport or M-sport (M package? I forget)
2011LS3SS Just a bit weird of a naming scheme.

Well then you must drive a Toyota yaris!
***** For performance car standards it's slow. You're just a fucken unsuccessful loser in life. Actually I'm extremely successful you piece of shit. Not everyone is on welfare like you. Go use your ebt card bum.
Andy Esho it's really not slow at all, don't be an idiot
***** This guy has been trolling all of these comments talking shit about this car..
Matt a couple reviewers reviewed this car and couldn't get it to 60 in less then 5 seconds, edmunds being one of them. Does it really feel that fast?
is 5 seconds considered slow these days....
Yes that's exactly what I'm saying. 5 seconds is definitely slow
but it's not. thats my point
Julian Raimondo chevy claims 4.4 but no one has came close to that number
ah yeah, well if chevy is claiming numbers the car cant get well thats a different story....
But would that engien not fit better in the ATS? Like the Gremans do with there compact cars. BMW 335i opel isginia OPC and the Audi S4?
3.6 sounds very whiny! Better sounding v6 out there for sure.
Man, Caddy had some good products for like, 3 seconds, now they seem to be back to making the same ol' same ol'
I bought a 14 Vsport a few months back and i absolutely love this car, everything you hear about how good they are is very true

ATS V with slightly less power and a long inseam
GO FASTER
Ok CTS-V Sport OR Charger Hellcat?
I know, not exactly the same but they are both 'Merican, big HP sedans
Charles Flaherty Hellcat if you don't care about fuel economy.
you can compere the hellcat with the upcoming cts v 2016
No DRIVE+ video .... ??? I really wanted to pay for a video on TH-cam .... really .... yeah .... really ............LOL.
i thought these were 6.2 supercharged
Am I first?
nope second =)
am last
Great car but I think for the money I'd rather have the M3
