S-MAX and Galaxy Trend, Titanium and ST-Line models are now more easily distinguished with unique front-end designs, as are the S-MAX Vignale and the new Galaxy Vignale variant - introduced for the first time with luxurious signature specification.
New driver and front passenger seats available for S-MAX and Galaxy Trend and Titanium models can be adjusted in 18 ways for maximum support - contributing to even more comfortable journeys and earning the seal of approval from the leading spinal health organisation Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V. (AGR) (the Campaign for Healthier Backs).
FordPass Connect on-board modem technology is also now offered for both the S‑MAX and Galaxy for the first time. FordPass Connect turns the models into mobile WiFi hotspots with connectivity for up to 10 devices, and enables new Local Hazard Information that can inform the driver of hazardous situations in the road ahead before they become visible to the driver or vehicle sensors.
“Our new Galaxy Vignale model takes first-class travel to the next level, and the connectivity delivered by our FordPass Connect technology helps make life simpler and less stressful for S‑MAX and Galaxy customers whether they’re driving, working or relaxing,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.
Ford’s S-MAX and Galaxy models were last year enhanced to deliver even greater fuel efficiency, performance and refinement, with Ford’s sophisticated 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine offering up to 240 PS; an advanced eight-speed automatic transmission option; and available driver assistance technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go functionality.
New 18-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats available for S-MAX and Galaxy Trend and Titanium variants can help provide relief for back pain-sufferers on the road, having achieved recognition from the AGR’s independent testing committee of experts from various medical fields.
To obtain the AGR seal, the seat must be able to adapt to the person in their sitting position, rather than the person adapting their position to the seat. Adjustment includes height, length and inclination, in addition to back, neck and thigh support. The four-way lumbar adjustment is controlled electronically from a switch on the seat’s side.
S-MAX - available in five- and seven-seat configurations, and Galaxy - delivering seven seats as standard, continue to offer optimised comfort, flexibility and versatility with up to 32 seating and load-space combinations, as well as innovative Easy Fold Seats for the second and third rows. The system enables each rear seat to be folded flat from a push-button control panel in the bootspace. A Power Raise function is also available for Galaxy third row seats.
Available for the Ford S-MAX and Galaxy with 150 PS and 190 PS power outputs - and with 240 PS in Bi-turbo form - the 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine delivers the power, torque and driving performance of a larger capacity engine alongside the fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions synonymous with a smaller engine capacity.Available advanced S-MAX and Galaxy comfort and convenience technologies include ACC with Stop & Go. Enabled by the eight-speed automatic transmission, the system helps drivers maintain a comfortable driving distance from vehicles ahead, including bringing the vehicle to a complete halt in stop-start traffic and automatically pulling away if the stopping duration is less than 3 seconds.

I shortlisted a Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV and S-Max with conventional (non plug-in) hybrid engines. I test drove the RAV4 and S-Max today, and was delighted by the S-Max: a far superior drive to the Toyota, infinitely better ride, handling and MUCH quieter. Throw in a bigger boot, (here in CZ) a 5-year warranty, longer service intervals and it's a no brainer. Substance over style.

Phenomenal car Dan, I had a front wheel drive turbo diesel with auto box three cars ago, loved it. Solid on the road, comfortable and reasonably economical for the size of vehicle.
The problem I find with Ford U.K. is that so much safety equipment is optional extras which for 2021 is ludicrous. Even more so when you consider Hyundai and Kia (as well as others of course) offer the complete package in one price. A real shame because the S Mas was a real enjoyment to drive.
I’ve just looked at the new Kuga and what ever trim you pick (in the U.K. at least) the desirable safety features are all at an extra cost.
Sorry, Ford. You won’t be getting my money.

Ford makes me mad for discontinuing the C-Max in the US. This would be an awesome upgrade. Needs the panoramic sunroof and hybrid option.

I have had the sport turbo 240 power shift version for 3 years..all the bells it parks itself has paddles leather double glazed bla bla bla..had a panel filter & stage 1 tune done as it feels sluggish & heavy mostly in standard mode.
About 275hp it’s been very good to be honest..£250 for a battery but it’s only got 40k on it.
Thirsty 18mpg & I’m mostly going round town I’m a gentle driver despite doing the upgrade.
Concerned about the gearbox as there known to leak but it’s ok so far.
It does feel every bit as quiet & expensive as my mates new Porsche Cayenne..start stop thing is annoying & resets to ON every time you get in the car..auto braking function resets to ON as well & it’s almost caused 2 crashes so far even on minimum sensitivity…just slams the brakes on on roundabouts which makes people behind think I’m trying an insurance scam.
Can you disable the auto braking function?. And what's the drive like on rough roads ?
I’ve decided to give the ST-Line a point above the Titanium for styling.

Снаружи свежо и красиво. А внутри не впечатлило. Сидушки складываются с щелями, не полежать. Всё таки на первых максах поинтереснее. Тот случай когда берёшь новую машину и понимаешь что в старой было удобней и практичнее.

In the first generation S-Max, you could get one with a 5cyl engine with 220hp (the same engine in the MK2 Focus ST, but that took around 8 seconds to hit 100kmh).

Started looking this week found hybrid model and didn't know how new it was. Interested due to the space
Hybrid version is 2021 👍
The S-MAX is a great car. I own the 2020 model. Lots of space. Be aware that the ST version just looks faster than the other ones but it really isn't. It all depends on the engine you choose. S-MAX is pretty heavy (1.6 tons 2020 model, +300 kg for the hybrid version). So it's more a juggernaut than a sprinter.
Also Ford has issues with battery management system. Cheating at WLTP (the emission test in Europe) has priority which is why car manufactures have decided that charging the battery while putting load on the engine (a.k.a. driving) is bad for the test results. Instead now the battery is being charged, when there is NO load on the engine (you have to take the food off the gas pedal and just roll). Now guess how much charging time this provides for the car. Then add the tons of power consuming gizmos in the car and you get a real problem. I just had to get a new battery after 9 months because the BMS screwed it up in a way, that it could not hold it's capacity anymore. As a result electric features got cancelled by the car (like keyless entry).
Now take this into consideration and add the hybrid concept on top. Ford can't even manage a normal electric system properly. I would suggest, that you do intense research and probably wait for the 2022 model, before you buy this - otherwise marvelous - car.

@@sebastiangoller7345 I have one since 2018, so far no issues with battery, it's a great car, very comfortable, lots of room and nice to drive. It's true that if you drive the car for short distances too often, then some electronic systems get deactivated (start & stop, keyless entry for all doors but the driver's one, etc), but it's enough to do a longer trip to make them work again.
I can bay new Toyota Land Cruiser for that price. But still nice car. I have C-max Grand.

Amazing cars drive superbly and look amazing but sadly have a lot of problems and some simple parts are unbelievably expensive a prime example of technology going a step to far and spoiling a great car

It who likes who, I like classic dashboard, for me perfect...don't like same Citroen or Peugeot dashboards, looks haotic. But Peugeot 5008 looks nice outside too, as S-max. And Mondeo and S-max drives perfect, nice cars.
