I personally think that the S-Max plays in a class of its own. No competition on the market by any other manufacture so far. No other Van/MPV on the entire market combines sportines, style, practicality like the S-Max does. In my opinion the perfekt allrounder for daily use. It seems like Ford has invented some kind of a new segment of cars when they started the production of the S-Max. I like nearly all kind of cars but MPVs have never been my favourite ones but this thing here is simply cool. To me it looks awesome (especially in the ST-Version in black with the strongest available engine). Thank you for your effort and the nice video!!! ;-)
Great review and excellent car. I test drove it an hour after a RAV-4 hybrid, and could not believe how much better it was in almost every respect. I was then going to test a Honda CRV hybrid, but realised there was no point. An S-Max FHEV is ordered, and I can't wait.
Speaking of this segment, the most important feature is certainly the 3 seats which allow you to transport 3 kids with child seats without losing the trunk space. With 2 kids you have 100s of choices. With 3 kids it’s basically only seat Alhambra, Ford galaxy, vw sharan, maybe Peugeot 5008. Audi Q7 is the expensive option. I think the Smax looks not too shabby for being a big family car and has everything needed to carry 5 ppl
I have S-max since 2018, it’s a great car, very confy, couldn’t find anything better in this category. We have other “premium” brands in the family (a Mercedes C class and a Z4) and this is not behind at all compared to premium brands. Only some hard plastics in the low areas, which they don’t bother to me since the car is well built and after 3 years still doesn’t rattle at all (Mercedes for rattles is really bad instead). So overall very happy with the car.
I am on my 5th one and it is superb... I need 7 seats and nothing else on the market (including SUVs) comes close, especially if you are after 3 full size seats in the second row.
@@zainhyde4614 had a number of BMWs before the Fords, and never again.... pay way too much extra for the badge and only half the kit on them.... even the wheels were an extra!
@@zainhyde4614 yes. I have the titanium 8 speed auto version and it is superb. Only thing i would improve is the mechanism in the rear door sun blinds which rattles when going over uneven ground.
Looks great but wonder why they removed the sliding doors which made getting kids in and out in parking spots a lot easier? Also, what happened to roof storage, wonder if you get that on non sun roof models?
S-max (nor Galaxy) never had the sliding door. It couldnt look so sleek with a pair of sliding door (look at Sharan or other boxy MPVs with sliding door). I have 3 kids and never really found myself in a situation when I would be like: "I wish I had that sliding door". You know why? Because if YOU can get in or out of the car, the kids can certanly do it, too. And you can attach roof storage both on sun roof and non sun roof models alike, it literally doesnt matter.
Well, maybe for you. And if that is the most important feature for you, there are far better alternatives (such as Hyundai Staria). S-Max, on the other hand provides you 3 FULL SIZED seats in second row, meaning you can COMFORTABLY put in either 3 kids each in separate baby seat (or two in babyseat and the third without, or three full sized adults) and still have 1000 litres of boot space. Also you have a lot of style, it has quite a powerful engine for the segment and importantly, it does not drive like a van, it drives like a good real-estate. Meaning there is almost no leaning or body roll in curves. This is coming from owner of a 2012 S-max and 2021 S-max vignale, father of 3 and someone who likes to drive
Can anyone who knows a bit about cars, tell me their thoughts on buying a diesel, as I am currently looking to buy a new car and want a diesel but fearful of the future and additional cost which may come from having a diesel, TIA
I'm always disappointed that they "point out" the rear seat row, but never go sit in it, so you actually know what the legroom looks like for an adult :/
very good car except for the tire pressure indication and the wapping price. A grand scenic costs 8000 euros less. How is Ford gonna compete with that?
rajjy1976 I do as they are much more practical than an SUV, particularly if you have loads of camping gear to carry around. If you don’t care about MPVs why did you watch the review?
Steve Saunders Sales of people carriers are down compared to SUVs. Any idiot knows that. Yes, they’re more practical. Like an estate is more practical over an SUV. Again, any idiot knows that. Stop acting like I’ve insulted your parents. It’s just a bloody car. Get over yourself. I’ll click on what I want. You’re not in charge of what I watch. Have a blessed day my friend 😚
Steve Saunders Says the guy who got really upset that I said MPVs were dull 🤪 Relax man. Everyone’s allowed an opinion. Plus it’s just the TH-cam comments section.
rajjy1976 “really upset”? I don’t think so. Just pointing out you can’t assume nobody cares. You seem to be the one who’s getting upset and wasting his time watching things he doesn’t care about. Anyway, great talking to you buddy.

What is it with automatic gear boxes, can we not have a manual?

Very good review but the background music is annoying at the beginning.

Very well done review. I like her. The interior of this is surprising with that quilted leather.
Which one is more reliable?
What color was the car? Panther blue? Thx
Daniel T. Yes, it’s the colour you’ve mentioned.
Excellent review. The S-MAX is a first class car I would recommend it is top in its class by far. Thankyou
Please review the facelift Skoda Superb Estate in top trim and. compare to more premium rivals A6/E/5Thanks
Looking fab Joss and also The Ford S-MAX looks really nice.
I see what you did there
Nice review 👍👍👍
Ford cheapened the Ghia mark to the point that it meant nothing, wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with Vignale.
Great and helpful review. Was almost going to buy this, but that infotainment system is awfully unresponsive.
How bad is it? The review says it's easy to use.
Fair play on your channel however I think a more informal and less scripted review style may suit better.
Seriously you didn't go in the 3rd row? That's like the most important feature of this car!

Joss is lovely and a good review too. The S-Max is a tad pricey though.
All fords are ,especially the overrated kuga!!!
@@AR-dn6kh I have never been a fan of the Kuga and it's not an economical car either.
I actually like the S max styling better as compared to Renault's Grand Scenic "glide iron" on wheels :)
A good review but really annoying, tinny sounding background music.
I like this S-Max...I want one!!!

I’m 5’7”…it’s ok 👍
Great looking but if you're after fuel efficiency, then this isn't for you. 2 litre diesel tdci is thirsty motor, which is a shame.
Good review, but that background music is really annoying.
Its well equipped. It should be its the top of the range. £10000 for the extras is good value. You're getting paid too much.
SUV's have practically ruined today's car market! I'd rather have the S-Max any day of the week over a clumsy SUV.

@UCy3zOASa67yYIgGyMWodr5A Yeah right, not comparable. Ford S-Max is an all other game.
the scinic
The scenec should cost 15 k less.
The tyre pressur indication is annoying.
I prefer the old look
Obviously were gonna pick s max
Nice car
Why annoying BGM?
Same thing happened to cars Ireland as well
Gosh...for one momenta i thought she was Kate Middleton
