Sub counts shouldnt be a measure of success it should be views. I sub to channels and only unsub if they piss me off. That said though there are tons of channels I sub to and immediately stop watching and never unsub. I dont think the average YT user manages their subs because its not that important, the algorithm pushes that content away on its own.
