This woman de-sexualized her wedding gown. She made a profound statement to her soon to be husband, "This is for YOU." She is bonding herself to THIS man. Her choice is HIM. He is not a sex object and neither is she.

Olivia Culpo didn't say ANYTHING about "all brides". She spoke about what "she" wanted to wear for "her" wedding, period. I think the fact that she has a beautiful figure, but opted for "her" wedding, to wear a conservative dress, is great. It's beautiful to have choice.

It's 4th wave feminism that started around the 2010s with the boom of twitter and social media. It teaches man hating, promotes hypersexuality and casual sex and empowering/liberation or freedom, and it NEVER holds women accountable for their choices. If you disagree with them you a deemed a misogynistic woman hating pick me with internalized misogyny. Things are slowly starting to change back to common sense, now that the women who created this are 30+ and struggling to get married, but it will take a while.

In this over-sexed culture, of course she was going to get backlash for wearing a modest wedding gown AND openly discussing her reasoning behind it.
Especially since she doesn't seem to be a particularly modest dresser in her everyday life.
However, a marriage ceremony is not an everyday occurrence. It is a covenant between a man, a woman and God - and it should be regarded with respect and honor.
I applaud her for choosing to honor her body, her husband and God with her dress choice and prayerfully it'll trickle over into her everyday clothing choices.

I agree with what you are saying.
As I said in the video, I really do not know who this young women is, we did look at her Instagram and I saw some photos where she was not dressed modest at all but your wedding day is a very different story.
For her ceremony she choose to wear a dress and gave her reasoning why. From what I understand it is not so much the dress it is why she choose to wear that type of dress.
I know women who after they got married they chose to cover up a little more. They are wives, mothers, and want to show respect for that.

Imagine that one of those "crop top wedding dress bride" you mentioned would say something like "I choose this dress to show the level of commitment to pleasure my husband I have", tell me in all honesty, wouldn't that be icky with you?
Wouldn't you ask yourself "why do I need to know this about you?", because I would, and same goes with this bride as well.
Before youtube choose to show me this I had no idea who she is, and I also was like "who cares shat she wears on her wedding day?" But then I also was informed about her choice if sharing her thoughts on it. Does that mean that my slevless midi dress somehow spoked about my lack of commitment to my husband?
I don't think so, modesty is an attitude, not a dress. You can be naked and more modest (think of the ledgend of Lady Godiva) than someone that lives in luxury (the literal antithesis of modesty) and displays her life on daily basis.

The problem is projection. She didn’t send for anyone, yet everyone came for her. When she said she “didn’t want to exude sex in any way shape or form,” folks assumed that it begged several questions. The main one being, ‘well, what’s wrong with sex(y)’ and the second one being ‘why isn’t modest considered sex(y)?’
I think (especially when it comes to clothing) we misalign ‘sexy’ with ‘attractive’ or ‘beautiful’. In which case, it’s not definitive that you truly want to look ‘sexy’. It’s no strange phenomenon that women want to 1) feel their perspective of most beautiful and 2) be seen as attractive to their husband on their wedding day. Though understandable, it’s all completely subjective at the end of the day. For example, I find anything form fitting to be ‘sexy’ even when others consider it modest. Her dress had sex appeal (imo), it just didn’t have skin/cleavage. Her female form was present and accounted for-does it or does it not automatically mean ‘sexy’?
    Well that’s up to you.
Now, the ‘overpowering me’ piece is something that I myself have heard from a number of beauty pageant girls. People forget when they’re watching these ladies on screen, it is not usually a fair representation of who they are-much of what they wear isn’t even chosen by them, and, therefore, not a reflection of their personal style. Pageant dresses are designed to emphasize their best features-or rather, *someone else’s opinions of what their best features are.*
Most pageant girls wear wedding dresses completely different from their ‘pageant style’ and they do it on purpose. Wouldn’t you after wearing so many clothes you disliked for what could be as long as a decade for these ladies? Furthermore, when you consider her relationship-for a pageant girl who dislikes her revealing ensemble, appreciates coverage, who also comes across a man who appreciates coverage as well…sounds like an attraction…sounds like an appreciation for her true values and not the on screen facade….why is this surprising? It’s not.
I think Gown Eyed Girl took it too personal and saw an opportunity without considering the aforementioned big picture. As an influencer, she has been known to defend choice when it comes to wedding dresses-she thought she was doing the same thing here. Her emotions let loose, she got unnecessarily catty, and contradicted herself several times on top of that. There was no defense that needed to be made when someone is simply answering a question..in an interview..about themselves…
    Nobody:
Gown Eyed Girl: Women don’t have to be conservative 🙄
    Girl what?..

In west some women have lost their common sense . You don't need to expose your body every now and then to feel empowered . There is a time and place . The critic is not “sad”: Like the bride, the TikTok woman is a successful content creator who makes her living by commenting on style and fashion. The bride did an interview w Vogue - a highly respected fashion magazine - that’s why “we are listening” (people care about cultural critique, and/or the bride as a successful Instagram influencer, or gender issues in general, maybe just interested in “style” ). And not being sufficiently “woke” will surely set certain people back hundreds of years if a particular group of politicians have their way come next November. There is nothing noble/sacred about being uninformed or silent: The bride positioned herself as a public figure to be critiqued, so the critics have a right to speak on her dresses and engage w her views. And I’m a Catholic happily married for over 25 years - and proudly “woke”.

I’m an old lady and frequently my opinion is discounted. I’m so happy to see this and to hear you (not an old lady) agree with being covered as a bride. Neckline down to here, slit up to there, transparency, sheer corsets, etc. I’m not a prude but I love the idea of respect for the church, the minister, his/her family.

There is a place for modesty and there is a place for sexyness. I don't dress at a party like I dress to go to Mass, but that's not a contradiction, it's just how adulti people regulate themselves in different social contexts. Only children and teenagers don't know how to regulate their language, clothes and behavior according to the situation.

Imaginee getting mad because A BRIDE stated HER REASONS to choose HER dress. Somehow the wackos decided she was speaking about EVERYONE ELSE.
When did my body my choice got out of fashion?

I have an alternative thought tbh. 1st, I think its stemming from these women being irritated by the most recent recurrence of the 'traditional housewife' content. I agree that the tiktoker was reaching and was excessive (altho I agree that WHAT you wear on your wedding day is NO indication to how serious you take your marriage) however Olivia wore a very baring after party dress. No problem with either choices, but to go on in an article about modesty and then go ahead and wear her after party outfit....its very pointless, why discuss modesty and how your husband finds it the most beautiful then? I have a very modest wedding gown and a high slit after party dress but I'm not going to ramble about modesty because I enjoy BOTH sides of the coin, like Olivia. I do agree that the tiktoker should've just minded her business nonetheless, but hey....critiquing other peoples business is a business.

First time to your channel 😊....love your beautiful and intelligent commentary about this wedding situation... Which was my first ever time hearing about this entire situation or that "influencer." I agree with your perspective about the Bride's statements as to the "covenant" dress and basically the 'Sanctity' of those vows NOT AT ALL ALIGNING with her "Playboy Bunny-ish" after party attire! Something was definitely "off" in her after party choice of dress based on what SHE said about wanting her dress to reflect modesty and coverage! 🤔 Seems like someone close to her would've pointed out that wearing a swimming suit with a lacy ring around it just didn't align with HER words about how her husband enjoys seeing her as beautiful when she's 'covered.' (At least that was the implication...). Anyway, her gown was absolutely gorgeous and she looked stunning for her ceremony!!❤️🥰❤️ I just wish she would've applied that same principle of 'coverage' to a more modest after party dress.🥴🤦🏾‍♀️🫣 (And no, she didn't have to be encased in a similar dress....maybe just a dress that was more in alignment with HER own words about the MINDSET and ATTITUDE she took to the ceremony...that could've easily carried over to the reception and they STILL would've had great laughter and plenty of celebratory fun!)🎉😊🎉 Maybe she could've surprised her husband ALONE with the Playboy Bunnyish outfit on their honeymoon and im SURE he would've TOTALLY LOVED it!! 😍
Just an older woman's thoughts on the matter. 💁🏾‍♀️You have a new Subscriber in me!😊

Unpopular opinion plz don't drag me: I don't think people were mad at the fact she chose a "modest" wedding dress (maybe some, but not most). I think people were mad at the way she spoke about her choices. It felt weird, at least to me. Someone who has gotten multiple six-figures of cosmetic surgery and regular beauty enhancements talking about how they're wearing (basically) no make-up on the day feels weird to me. Someone who says she wanted modesty and didn't want any sexual suggestion in her wedding but was near nude at her reception party feels weird. I think people were picking up on weird vibes, but then took it too far in the criticism (like the internet normally does).

If others want to reflect those feelings in other ways, I’m guessing that’s fine with her . People choose to reflect all sorts of different things in their wedding choices. Seriousness is just what she chose and she choose to do that through her dress.

Firstly I have no ideas as to who either of them are (bride/groom) so I know no history, but based off of this video solely I do have a perspective. The dress is absolutely beautiful and and she looks nice in it. I say nice because based on the pictures and my eyes lol she looks uncomfortable. Now granted this could be nerves amongst other things. However when you showed the after party dress it persuades me to think this is the case. Like maybe her true essence is to be a little less covered. In her statement she said her husband likes when she dressed this way not “she/I like when she/I dressed this way” (or even them both). Also understanding that it was an after party she does seem more in her element she is smiling and free while in the wedding dress she seems unease. You also mentioned she was a housewife (now I don’t know her but some of the housewives are more “free spirits”) and this could be why the tiktok person said she wasn’t like that normally. I do believe that being covered should not be looked down on I actually encourage exclusivity as well as meeting the needs and wants of your husband but I don’t think that was not properly demonstrated when just hours apart you pulled your honeymoon outfit out and showed up to the after party. If it was done in seriousness I would be all for the statement and the dress. I do side more with the tik tok person on the “agenda” part because of how she followed up with the second piece just moments later. I think she should have just worn both without making a verbal statement if that’s what she really wanted to wear it would have held more weight vs making a mockery out of herself with her negligee

I agree that it might be that some brides preferes to be more covered for the Wedding and that is totally okay, even with this Tiktok Creator. If you watch her other videos she reviews even modest dresses good like Paris Hiltons or Lilly Collins wedding dresses. And as a woman every woman should dress the way they want. Olivia Culpo is very famous and her Wedding was not only features in Vogue, a magazine with a wider/different audiences, her looks were also sponsered as far as i know. That's why it comes off as an "Agenda" and not authenticly and not genuine what she wanted. if you also look at the reception dress. Even if her Husband found her beautiful in that dress it felt unnecessairly detailed to mention hat he found her beautiful covered. As if her Husband would tell her she looks only good covered. I think if her statement came of honest enough, there would not been that much drama.
