This woman de-sexualized her wedding gown. She made a profound statement to her soon to be husband, "This is for YOU." She is bonding herself to THIS man. Her choice is HIM. He is not a sex object and neither is she.
If you are a woman, you will get criticized for: Wearing the "right" dress, wearing the "wrong" dress, getting married, staying single, breathing, existing.......... Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
The worst part is it’s always from other women. Parts of me just wants to start ignoring women and their advice except 40+ ones who stop caring about what people say.
Olivia Culpo didn't say ANYTHING about "all brides". She spoke about what "she" wanted to wear for "her" wedding, period. I think the fact that she has a beautiful figure, but opted for "her" wedding, to wear a conservative dress, is great. It's beautiful to have choice.
Absolutely agree with you, but since she also chose to make sure everybody knows about her wedding, that opened the door for.other people having opinions on that as well.
@@bazileia9222 the only caveat to that is that the woman talked about how she decided on her wedding dress. She did not say everyone should feel as she does. Conservative agenda? Pfffft what a stretch.
@CarlaHowatt I see that many people here fail to grasp the concept of "influencer," which is her only job. She doesn't actually have any other "talents."
The fact they claimed she was pushing an agenda, just highlights how agenda driven they are. She made her statements concerning why she chose it, none of those statements implied political motivation. Most of us aren't hard wired to have an agenda for what we wear.
@@mocchiatotv And that is what I am trying to understand. How did we get here? If she walked down the aisle in the ever so popular sheer corset dress no one would’ve batted an eyelash. But as the women in the Tik Tok said she doesn’t necessarily have an issue with the dress she had an issue with her statements. Her statements should not be an issue.
It's 4th wave feminism that started around the 2010s with the boom of twitter and social media. It teaches man hating, promotes hypersexuality and casual sex and empowering/liberation or freedom, and it NEVER holds women accountable for their choices. If you disagree with them you a deemed a misogynistic woman hating pick me with internalized misogyny. Things are slowly starting to change back to common sense, now that the women who created this are 30+ and struggling to get married, but it will take a while.
I think that some women are allowing their insecurities to show. Its sad that a woman being modest, is so triggering. There are some hit dogs hollering really loud.
That tiktoker felt attacked 😂. She should probably sit down and have a conversation with her conscious. She is projecting big time. She doesn't feel comfortable with her choices. That's the problem.
In this over-sexed culture, of course she was going to get backlash for wearing a modest wedding gown AND openly discussing her reasoning behind it. Especially since she doesn't seem to be a particularly modest dresser in her everyday life. However, a marriage ceremony is not an everyday occurrence. It is a covenant between a man, a woman and God - and it should be regarded with respect and honor. I applaud her for choosing to honor her body, her husband and God with her dress choice and prayerfully it'll trickle over into her everyday clothing choices.
Hello Lauren. I agree with what you are saying. As I said in the video, I really do not know who this young women is, we did look at her Instagram and I saw some photos where she was not dressed modest at all but your wedding day is a very different story. For her ceremony she choose to wear a dress and gave her reasoning why. From what I understand it is not so much the dress it is why she choose to wear that type of dress. I know women who after they got married they chose to cover up a little more. They are wives, mothers, and want to show respect for that.
yup they want women over sexualized its all an agenda, so many online outlets making sex slave profits Only fans to be an example. Many women dont get it, it will hurt our girls in the future. young women who want to be covered in school get bullied by the hooligans. I cant. smh
Olivia Culpo got married in a chappel, not outdoors, not a hall but in a house of worship. There are no poles at the altar. Olivia understood the assignment.
Because we have oversexulised everything .....it blows my mind what people think is appropriate for a church wedding and the the priest /minister allowes it!
I still don’t get how Olivia’s decisions for herself became “pushing an agenda.” It is normal to have a vision for your wedding day and it is also normal to want a different look for your wedding than what you normally wear. People really need to stop choosing offense. Olivia’s decisions were hers to make and had nothing to do with anyone else. What the heck
I didn't hear a single thing she said as applying to anyone but herself. What she wore was intended to match her *own* feelings about the day, nobody else's. A simple elegant dress reinforced her *own* feeling of seriousness about her commitment. ❤💍💐
Some people have problems with women who want to be modest. It’s like they feel attacked for some reason and I don’t get it. I like the fact that you specified that the bride only mentioned HERSELF in the post and expressed what SHE wanted for HER wedding. I’m sure if she said the opposite like “it’s my wedding, I don’t care about other people’s opinion and I don’t want to be modest” these women would have NEVER made those videos and would be praising her INSTEAD. It’s so annoying 😩 There’s a big double standard.
@@maryam-fk9ro You make a great point. If Olivia would have “owned it” and been more assertive with her statements she more thank likely would’ve been praised by the same people who are criticizing her now. If she stated she didn’t care what people thought and it was her wedding the response would’ve been very different! Because then she would be powerful and “living in her truth.”
They are insecure, that is why they feel attacked by the next woman being viewed as wholesome, modest or anything that they think is positive and will be viewed favorable to males. They are insecure about the next woman being chosen over them yet they call other women pick me's.
They feel attacked because modesty makes them feel dirty in comparison. It’s kind of like how promiscuous women feel insecure around a woman who’s saving herself for marriage
Yall it’s no surprise. I when you’re not living right someone living right will piss you off and Will offended you because deep down inside you know you need to come up in your standards. When my friend's daughter got married the priest told her, you are getting married in a church, you and your bridesmaids will wear clothing that is respectful to the church. I've seen some very revealing tacky wedding gowns, and I could not imagine wearing them to a church, or in front of my older family members.
Gown Eyed Girl’s taking offense to the reasons why Olivia chose her wedding gown seems like defensive projection. Olivia did not say that other women should be covered on their wedding day; she said SHE wanted to be covered on HER wedding day. Anyway, Olivia’s gown was a stunner!
You are not correct. I don't give a damn about traditions as long as those don't harm anyone... it's a simple " you do you boo" concept for me. What most women didn't like is the fact that she implied that "if you are not covert is not a serious commitment" idea... I am sick and tired of the bs that somehow the way a woman is clothed shows her worth. We had enough of "what did she wear?" type of judgement to excuse (most) men behavior.

Well, Boomer here. Wedding dress were supposed to be modest. The negligee was for the wedding night. So I agree with Ms Culpo and her beautiful, modest gown. I love ball gowns too.
The audacity for her to get angry at someone's personal wedding choices and for others to agree with her on this? Like why should her wedding decisions matter to you so much? Her entire video was a massive reach.

@marie-regisb. no, I have a problem with women perpetuating the stereotype that we have to dress a certain way to have a certain value. That perpetuates the idea of submissions to men. We were oppressed for centuries and had been enough the second-class citizen. Victims of SA are still blamed for the "how they were dressed" to excuse it. So that is my problem.
@@mohammedjemila8549 the dress is beautiful! Like this woman and the people who agree with her she takes issue with her reasons behind the dress, which as a married woman I have no issue with.
Yeah I don’t understand the hate for HER WEDDING DAY. These women are applying so many other things to it that frankly speaks to them projecting. Meanwhile no one has this sort of smoke for women in crop top wedding gowns 😒
You do realize that people didn't have a problem with her dress choice but with her commentary on that dress choice, right? Imagine that one of those "crop top wedding dress bride" you mentioned would say something like "I choose this dress to show the level of commitment to pleasure my husband I have", tell me in all honesty, wouldn't that be icky with you? Wouldn't you ask yourself "why do I need to know this about you?", because I would, and same goes with this bride as well. Before youtube choose to show me this I had no idea who she is, and I also was like "who cares shat she wears on her wedding day?" But then I also was informed about her choice if sharing her thoughts on it. Does that mean that my slevless midi dress somehow spoked about my lack of commitment to my husband? I don't think so, modesty is an attitude, not a dress. You can be naked and more modest (think of the ledgend of Lady Godiva) than someone that lives in luxury (the literal antithesis of modesty) and displays her life on daily basis.
The problem is projection. She didn’t send for anyone, yet everyone came for her. When she said she “didn’t want to exude sex in any way shape or form,” folks assumed that it begged several questions. The main one being, ‘well, what’s wrong with sex(y)’ and the second one being ‘why isn’t modest considered sex(y)?’ I think (especially when it comes to clothing) we misalign ‘sexy’ with ‘attractive’ or ‘beautiful’. In which case, it’s not definitive that you truly want to look ‘sexy’. It’s no strange phenomenon that women want to 1) feel their perspective of most beautiful and 2) be seen as attractive to their husband on their wedding day. Though understandable, it’s all completely subjective at the end of the day. For example, I find anything form fitting to be ‘sexy’ even when others consider it modest. Her dress had sex appeal (imo), it just didn’t have skin/cleavage. Her female form was present and accounted for-does it or does it not automatically mean ‘sexy’? Well that’s up to you. Now, the ‘overpowering me’ piece is something that I myself have heard from a number of beauty pageant girls. People forget when they’re watching these ladies on screen, it is not usually a fair representation of who they are-much of what they wear isn’t even chosen by them, and, therefore, not a reflection of their personal style. Pageant dresses are designed to emphasize their best features-or rather, *someone else’s opinions of what their best features are.* Most pageant girls wear wedding dresses completely different from their ‘pageant style’ and they do it on purpose. Wouldn’t you after wearing so many clothes you disliked for what could be as long as a decade for these ladies? Furthermore, when you consider her relationship-for a pageant girl who dislikes her revealing ensemble, appreciates coverage, who also comes across a man who appreciates coverage as well…sounds like an attraction…sounds like an appreciation for her true values and not the on screen facade….why is this surprising? It’s not. I think Gown Eyed Girl took it too personal and saw an opportunity without considering the aforementioned big picture. As an influencer, she has been known to defend choice when it comes to wedding dresses-she thought she was doing the same thing here. Her emotions let loose, she got unnecessarily catty, and contradicted herself several times on top of that. There was no defense that needed to be made when someone is simply answering a question..in an interview..about themselves… Nobody: Gown Eyed Girl: Women don’t have to be conservative 🙄 Girl what?..

Marriage is serious, and it’s how she feels. Some of these coo called wedding dresses are just so risqué. We all know most weddings are not in church. When a bride gets married in church they are more conservative. A bride walking down the aisle is just the most beautiful.
Beautiful wedding dress, and she looks just as elegant but most importantly she looks Happy! I just find it ridiculous that the wedding dress she chose for her special day and her reasons are being questioned by some instead of respected.
I think this new generation is quite extreme, it's concerning. Me liking something does not negate you or your thoughts in any way. I like it for me, you don't have to like it for you. Life is not all black and white. Everyone needs to relax and allow people the freedom they claim.
My grandma drilled into my head as a young girl that there's always a place for every dress. She said to always present our best selves to not only embarass ourselves but the family as well. A wedding is a holy occasion and so i support Olivia's decision for her dress to REFLECT it

The TikToker needs to get a life in the worst way possible. She was reaching and projecting. The wedding dress was perfect for the occasion. And while the reception and party dresses were not my style or taste, the bride went for a different vibe for a different part of the day. Her choice. Her money. Why should I or anyone else care?
For anyone confused the main reason she is getting backlash is because she’s talking about how good modesty is then shows up to her reception in a one piece bathing suit with a clear skirt on top (also she is known to be immodest) so it comes off as a sort of mockery and performative behavior.
Not really. It still makes sense. She got married at a church which women typically dress more modestly for rather than they in their day to day life. She also had the money to wear every dress she wanted to. So she wanted one modest one for the church while she’s taking her vows and one she wanted to party in.
That would make sense, but literally none of the feminists are complaining about that. They are only mad she wore a modest dress. Only conservatives are point out the hypocrisy, after the feminists made this whole thing go viral.
Why are we listening to a critical woman, that’s not married, and clearly is caught up in the woke part of society?!?!😢 And the bride is only stating what she believes and wanted her wedding and future pictures to convey. Why are people so offended by modest/ conservative lifestyle? That critic is just sad😞
The critic is not “sad”: Like the bride, the TikTok woman is a successful content creator who makes her living by commenting on style and fashion. The bride did an interview w Vogue - a highly respected fashion magazine - that’s why “we are listening” (people care about cultural critique, and/or the bride as a successful Instagram influencer, or gender issues in general, maybe just interested in “style” ). And not being sufficiently “woke” will surely set certain people back hundreds of years if a particular group of politicians have their way come next November. There is nothing noble/sacred about being uninformed or silent: The bride positioned herself as a public figure to be critiqued, so the critics have a right to speak on her dresses and engage w her views. And I’m a Catholic happily married for over 25 years - and proudly “woke”.

This a crazy! My dream wedding dress is similar and seeing this makes me sad because why would you want anything revealing for your wedding it’s a sacred ceremony for closed loved ones and family
I was married (the first time) in a lovely, fully covered lace layered dress. That marriage was a disaster. My ex cheated many times and was terrifying. I was with him 2 years before marriage and the psychopath hid the crazy until after the marriage. I had to escape and my church helped. After much therapy, I married again (11 years later). I wore jeans, a black sweater, boots, and a lovely wool cape outside the county courthouse. I’ve been married twice, but I’ve only ever had one HUSBAND. This man is such a gift and my only sadness is that a wonderful woman (his first wife) who helped him become this great man, had to pass away so that I could be truly loved. I respect and honor her legacy because of this.
My dress from the early 80's was "Edwardian" style with a high neck and long sleeves. I was married in the winter, so that was actually quite common for summer/winter wedding dresses to be different. I felt beautiful in it, I honestly never had a thought about modesty. Being sexy as a bride was never something that came in my head, or to the other girls I knew. I don't know who this woman is, but she is beautiful, her dress was beautiful. I would be uncomfortable with that outfit she chose for the after party. It does not stand up to her beauty. You see the "dress," not her. ......

After reading everyone's comments, I now wonder if Olivis had less of an agenda and more of a clear theme for the entire wedding day. It seems like she wanted to do a bit of hide and reveal. Be very modest during the day and uncover it all at night. It's a clever, if inappropriate, theme for the outfits. If so, I wonder if she had the rest of the wedding party do it too
I’m an old lady and frequently my opinion is discounted. I’m so happy to see this and to hear you (not an old lady) agree with being covered as a bride. Neckline down to here, slit up to there, transparency, sheer corsets, etc. I’m not a prude but I love the idea of respect for the church, the minister, his/her family.
There is a place for modesty and there is a place for sexyness. I don't dress at a party like I dress to go to Mass, but that's not a contradiction, it's just how adulti people regulate themselves in different social contexts. Only children and teenagers don't know how to regulate their language, clothes and behavior according to the situation.

It’s her wedding. She can decide what dress she wants to wear. I think it’s beautiful and tasteful. A very timeless look. I also think people are hating on her because of her happiness. It threatens their insecurities.
Brides are now becoming targets for these wackos. First Simone Biles and now this lady. The dress is beautiful in my book. I just “found” your page and enjoyed this post very much. I am a 66 year old mid west woman. I very much agree with your sentiments and views with regard to both dresses and with your responses to the TikTok video.
I have an alternative thought tbh. 1st, I think its stemming from these women being irritated by the most recent recurrence of the 'traditional housewife' content. I agree that the tiktoker was reaching and was excessive (altho I agree that WHAT you wear on your wedding day is NO indication to how serious you take your marriage) however Olivia wore a very baring after party dress. No problem with either choices, but to go on in an article about modesty and then go ahead and wear her after party outfit....its very pointless, why discuss modesty and how your husband finds it the most beautiful then? I have a very modest wedding gown and a high slit after party dress but I'm not going to ramble about modesty because I enjoy BOTH sides of the coin, like Olivia. I do agree that the tiktoker should've just minded her business nonetheless, but hey....critiquing other peoples business is a business.
First time to your channel 😊....love your beautiful and intelligent commentary about this wedding situation... Which was my first ever time hearing about this entire situation or that "influencer." I agree with your perspective about the Bride's statements as to the "covenant" dress and basically the 'Sanctity' of those vows NOT AT ALL ALIGNING with her "Playboy Bunny-ish" after party attire! Something was definitely "off" in her after party choice of dress based on what SHE said about wanting her dress to reflect modesty and coverage! 🤔 Seems like someone close to her would've pointed out that wearing a swimming suit with a lacy ring around it just didn't align with HER words about how her husband enjoys seeing her as beautiful when she's 'covered.' (At least that was the implication...). Anyway, her gown was absolutely gorgeous and she looked stunning for her ceremony!!❤️🥰❤️ I just wish she would've applied that same principle of 'coverage' to a more modest after party dress.🥴🤦🏾♀️🫣 (And no, she didn't have to be encased in a similar dress....maybe just a dress that was more in alignment with HER own words about the MINDSET and ATTITUDE she took to the ceremony...that could've easily carried over to the reception and they STILL would've had great laughter and plenty of celebratory fun!)🎉😊🎉 Maybe she could've surprised her husband ALONE with the Playboy Bunnyish outfit on their honeymoon and im SURE he would've TOTALLY LOVED it!! 😍 Just an older woman's thoughts on the matter. 💁🏾♀️You have a new Subscriber in me!😊

Unpopular opinion plz don't drag me: I don't think people were mad at the fact she chose a "modest" wedding dress (maybe some, but not most). I think people were mad at the way she spoke about her choices. It felt weird, at least to me. Someone who has gotten multiple six-figures of cosmetic surgery and regular beauty enhancements talking about how they're wearing (basically) no make-up on the day feels weird to me. Someone who says she wanted modesty and didn't want any sexual suggestion in her wedding but was near nude at her reception party feels weird. I think people were picking up on weird vibes, but then took it too far in the criticism (like the internet normally does).
@@susiex6669 Millions of women get married every year, many women don’t get married in churches, many women wear conservative dresses. Women want to feel beautiful on their day, and I don’t think I have any authority to judge another woman on her attire while she says her vows. And I find people who are so self important, they think they have authority over the morality of someone else’s choices, very odd. That’s why miss culpo got dragged, not for the dress, but for her statements.
@@chanellbotshekan If youre having a church wedding and show up half naked there, I have every right to judge you, whether youre a guest or the bride. If Im a guest at that wedding, best believe Ill say something to you. Its a place of worship, which has deep significance to many, even if YOU only feel its a prop for your wedding pictures.
It reminds me of the Nigerian young bride who get the same backlash, not because she was covered up and without makeup at her wedding ceremony but because of what she said her reasons were and she referred directly to the immodest brides of the world, contrary to this Olivia lady.
What happened to minding your own business? Is it your dress? No? Bye then! Why does anyone care about her wedding dress? Why does anyone care about what some random people on the internet think about her wedding dress? Some people just don’t have anything else going in their life 🙄
As an old woman, 62, I really hate the overly tight and revealing wedding dresses. Specifically the ceremony dress. For the reception and such, as long as the bride is comfortable and can enjoy her day, I’m more open.
I didnt read the Olivia Culpo interview Vogue article, but from the parts cited in the Tik Toks. I didn't hear any criticism of other brides choices. It sounded like she was just clarifying her own and her soon to be husband's opinions.
She never said that if YOU don’t have a modest wedding dress then YOU aren’t taking your vows seriously. She only said she wanted to reflect how serious SHE took her vows by her dress. If others want to reflect those feelings in other ways, I’m guessing that’s fine with her . People choose to reflect all sorts of different things in their wedding choices. Seriousness is just what she chose and she choose to do that through her dress.
Firstly I have no ideas as to who either of them are (bride/groom) so I know no history, but based off of this video solely I do have a perspective. The dress is absolutely beautiful and and she looks nice in it. I say nice because based on the pictures and my eyes lol she looks uncomfortable. Now granted this could be nerves amongst other things. However when you showed the after party dress it persuades me to think this is the case. Like maybe her true essence is to be a little less covered. In her statement she said her husband likes when she dressed this way not “she/I like when she/I dressed this way” (or even them both). Also understanding that it was an after party she does seem more in her element she is smiling and free while in the wedding dress she seems unease. You also mentioned she was a housewife (now I don’t know her but some of the housewives are more “free spirits”) and this could be why the tiktok person said she wasn’t like that normally. I do believe that being covered should not be looked down on I actually encourage exclusivity as well as meeting the needs and wants of your husband but I don’t think that was not properly demonstrated when just hours apart you pulled your honeymoon outfit out and showed up to the after party. If it was done in seriousness I would be all for the statement and the dress. I do side more with the tik tok person on the “agenda” part because of how she followed up with the second piece just moments later. I think she should have just worn both without making a verbal statement if that’s what she really wanted to wear it would have held more weight vs making a mockery out of herself with her negligee
I agree that it might be that some brides preferes to be more covered for the Wedding and that is totally okay, even with this Tiktok Creator. If you watch her other videos she reviews even modest dresses good like Paris Hiltons or Lilly Collins wedding dresses. And as a woman every woman should dress the way they want. Olivia Culpo is very famous and her Wedding was not only features in Vogue, a magazine with a wider/different audiences, her looks were also sponsered as far as i know. That's why it comes off as an "Agenda" and not authenticly and not genuine what she wanted. if you also look at the reception dress. Even if her Husband found her beautiful in that dress it felt unnecessairly detailed to mention hat he found her beautiful covered. As if her Husband would tell her she looks only good covered. I think if her statement came of honest enough, there would not been that much drama.
How did she get the idea that Olivia was telling everyone that they should wear this type of dress for their wedding? And if everyone took the marriage commitment seriously then there would be less divorces.
Having an "issue" with what another woman wore or said about her wedding, and it gave you such an emotional reaction that tells me that you probably are either jealous of what she has or just have too much time on your hands up on your high horse. *WHO CARES???* it's her life, wedding, marriage... but I forgot if we put ourselves on social media, we are opening ourselves up to know it all nothings like that Tiktokker.🙄
I wore a similarly modest dress for my church wedding in August 1974. My husband and I made a commitment to each other, nobody else. We have been happily married for 50 years this month on the 23rd….Golden Wedding Anniversary.
I don’t like the dress, but I love her reason for choosing it. It was very appropriate, unfortunately taking marriage seriously won’t make you many female friends or fans these days.
Anything that goes out of extreme is imbalanced. In this issue, it’s an imbalanced and biased opinion from someone that wanted to use her platform to shame a woman of wanting to have a theme for her wedding day and gain recognition for external validation.
I loved your video and how you gave context for the video! I personally love the dress and have no problem with most her comments and yours as well. However, I do disagree with the idea that a woman needs to be covered up to be taken seriously and the idea that a woman’s wedding dress must be covered to be serious or respectful. I fully believe anyone’s wedding dress is fully their choice, so on that same hand it’s someone’s choice so I think women who choose to wear something different should also be respected just as Olivia should!
My wedding dress was modest with long sleeves, no cleavage, but still the fabric was real silk beautifuly embroidered. The dress was made by a smart sewer. The dress was very special and so unique and I looked just amazing!

I don't think so, modesty is an attitude, not a dress. You can be naked and more modest (think of the ledgend of Lady Godiva) than someone that lives in luxury (the literal antithesis of modesty) and displays her life on daily basis.
@@bazileia9222You're everywhere. Are you the funny woman in the tik tok ? You're so defensive.
The problem is projection. She didn’t send for anyone, yet everyone came for her. When she said she “didn’t want to exude sex in any way shape or form,” folks assumed that it begged several questions. The main one being, ‘well, what’s wrong with sex(y)’ and the second one being ‘why isn’t modest considered sex(y)?’
I think (especially when it comes to clothing) we misalign ‘sexy’ with ‘attractive’ or ‘beautiful’.
Pageant dresses are designed to emphasize their best features-or rather, *someone else’s opinions of what their best features are.*
Most pageant girls wear wedding dresses completely different from their ‘pageant style’ and they do it on purpose.
There was no defense that needed to be made when someone is simply answering a question..in an interview..about themselves…

I would show more skin on my wedding dress than Olivia, but none of what she said offends me. 😂
She was speaking for herself and what she wanted, I still don't get why that Tiktoker made it about women in general.
The tik tokker needs to take several seats. Olivia spoke about what SHE wanted. She never implied that others follow her lead.
She wore many dresses that evening. That was her only modest one
Because she only got married in a place of worship once that day.
@@susiex6669 by the way I also got married in a place of worship and wore a beautiful and semi modest dress. I didn’t need to broadcast that to the world. I felt beautiful and loved and that was my only focus of the day.
@@jaraviahemphill4393 Ive seen a lot of wedding dresses worn in churches that really were tacky and too revealing, guests in attendance too. Ive never seen yours so Ill take your word for it.
Also, no you can not get married in underwear and expect the world to think you take your vows seriously 🤦🏾♀️ I saw a video once where a girl walked down the aisle in white lingerie, BBL hanging out for everyone to see. The groom gave her a chair to sit in lol. My question is why? What’s the intention? Why do you think everyone is comfortable seeing you like that? I just want to know.
Your wedding day isn’t about others.
Exactly! If you put in more effort to look presentable for job interview than your wedding what does that say? I would be pissed if my fiancé showed up in his boxers. Like you just embarrassed me in front of our families and friends
Yes what we wear has certain connatation and underwear is a such a casual thing not for a formal event there is no way you take it seriously wearing that unless you lived under a rock and have no clue how society works.
I like how people in this comment section show their biases.
So it's not ok to judge an influencer that displays her day to day life and her wedding and her thoughts on wedding, but if someone makes choices (mind you an anecdotal person you know, but not in the slightest a public figure) that you don't like, then is fair game?
How so?
@@spacebar9733 you still need to be considerate of your guests feelings who probably flew out of town to support you and your union. Otherwise just elope.
I forget which show it was, but there was a reality show in which they compared which dress the bride picked and which dress the groom picked. The groom ended up getting the dress he wanted, which was just a slinky, strappy dress, but the bride absolutely hated it. She said it just made her look like a Playboy model, hypersexualized, whereas she wanted something classy, pretty and elegant. Eventually she just focused on getting married but I totally understood her POV. It was definitely a dress a man fantasizes a woman wearing. It's like he took no consideration of her feelings at all.
Well done, thank you for being a voice of reason in a world gone nearly mad with concerning themselves with everyone else’s business.
the only backlash i saw was because of the hypocrisy of her statement & actions, not w modesty itself
That’s precisely true. This video is just rage bait and misogyny.
Yep! I was excited to see her modest dress and was let down to find out it was just for show!
Thank you. So many people don’t understand that.
What hypocrisy? She got married in a CHAPPEL, not a club. There is no pole at the altar. Some people need to learn what decorum and respect mean.
@@susiex6669 I hope you get the reaction you so desire. There was no need for her post if she was going to wear “immodest” dresses too. Also, she is already showing a form of immodesty in her decision to have such a flamboyant reception. I support it but that’s the hypocrisy.

Her wedding dress was modest; her reception dress was quite the opposite! 😂 Not sure how that makes her a “pick-me” as the Tik Toker alleges.

I think she’s getting hosed because she wasn’t consistent… As a influencer/role model “If you want to be married, then you have to be covered and elegant”, and all the things that men want women to be in one breath but also a playboy bunny in the next now that you’ve gotten the ring it’s inconsistent And that’s why people are reading more into it. This is what happens when clothing is not just a tool for expression…but seen as a character trait. We as a people have to do better about judging each other.
Consistent? She got married in a chappel. Hello?
She looks beautiful and it’s appropriate for a church wedding. I don’t think she said anything wrong. It’s her opinion.
Uh, she should not have used the words modesty or cover up when she immediately pops out with lingerie in public at a party???
I was very covered up for my wedding day and getting married in a Catholic Church I wanted to be very respectful. I loved my dress.
You see the "dress," not her. ......
What she did is show a mirror of everything they're not. They know Modesty is highly valued and it causes to make these women feel like a mirror is being up at them now.
I love EVERYTHING about her dress and love her reasons for it. 💗🌸 Demure and modest on your wedding day is lovely.💐 People are itching for the sake of hopefully making a viral video. SMH Get over it.
Again what's wrong is right and what's right is wrong. Her wedding, her dress, her, money.
That's biblical, Jesus Christ is coming back soon
This was a very well thought out and well spoken video. Thank you. I agree.
Thank you
After reading everyone's comments, I now wonder if Olivis had less of an agenda and more of a clear theme for the entire wedding day.
Thank you !
After seeing her wedding dress and after party dress, it looks like she trying to please two different worlds.
She didnt wear the party dress to church.
What if she was just pleasing herself?
There is a place for modesty and there is a place for sexyness. I don't dress at a party like I dress to go to Mass, but that's not a contradiction, it's just how adulti people regulate themselves in different social contexts. Only children and teenagers don't know how to regulate their language, clothes and behavior according to the situation.
The gown is beautiful. It reminds me of my gown that my mother and grandmother made. It was made out of slipper satin, white velvet, and lace. My veil however, was not 16 ft long.
I agree with simplicity of a wedding gown. She looks gorgeous, why would a new bride want to show her goods to men other than her husband. Wow everything has become political, even a wedding gown.
It is something I'd chose for my wedding, only with a larger neckline because I am claustrophobic.
Imaginee getting mad because A BRIDE stated HER REASONS to choose HER dress. Somehow the wackos decided she was speaking about EVERYONE ELSE.
When did my body my choice got out of fashion?
Actually, I do think her reasoning is also beautiful.
My best wishes for her and her groom. I hope they get to stay together forever while the wall comes for those saying bs.
I agree regarding the afterparty.
A bit of background on Olivia she dated Tim Tebow who is also a Christian and left him because he did not want to have premarital sex. Tim ended up marrying another miss universe from South Africa.
I am so happy to see her growth over the years. Best wishes to both of them on their union ❤

I just “found” your page and enjoyed this post very much. I am a 66 year old mid west woman. I very much agree with your sentiments and views with regard to both dresses and with your responses to the TikTok video.
Thank you !
The thing is this dress was about the religious and sacramental ceremony the other the after party thats why she said what she said.
Just an older woman's thoughts on the matter. 💁🏾♀️You have a new Subscriber in me!😊
Hello Denise and welcome to the community !
This situation had got me rolling my eyes because oh no how dare someone take the covenant of marriage seriously and want to express that in her wedding dress AAAH the horror. (Honestly the people criticizing her should never get married until they change their opinion they are not mature enough for a scred covenant.)
Seriousness that I have to express with my coverage is not worth the dirt under my fingernails.
As the tiktoker said - it is the other way around:
It matters, what you think.
NOT what you wear.
@@Mandara1847We express ourselves ALSO with the way we dress. It's inevitable, because that's what we show to others' who don't know us. Even when you don't care for other people's opinion, the way you dress show exactly that, so you communicate anyway. Wanting to communicate something specific like "modesty is attractive" is no different, it's just different from what you think.
"You could get married in your underwear and be taking your marriage vows very seriously" girl what in the delulu
I like to show skin sometimes but I wasn't offended by her words, those women sound illiterate or insecure.

62 isn’t old.
What I don't get is why anybody cares what somebody else is wearing to their private, family events. The audacity to care at all astounds me.
It's a nice dress and long sleeves do exist...
Also most people choose something that will look good in photos
I wore a similarly modest dress for my church wedding in August 1974. My husband and I made a commitment to each other, nobody else. We have been happily married for 50 years this month on the 23rd….Golden Wedding Anniversary.

I don’t like the dress, but I love her reason for choosing it. It was very appropriate, unfortunately taking marriage seriously won’t make you many female friends or fans these days.

@@DMKC Great point.
