I’ve been colour grading for years but keep watching videos for new techniques. I like your idea of pushing global exposure up to 100 units and then pulling global mid tones down to fill in the mid tones and blacks for contrast. I’m definitely going to try that out.
I’m also glad that you showed restraint on saturation. So many people crank up the saturation thinking that tons of colour makes everything look good. It doesn’t. Thanks the for the mew technique.

Nice shots love them as for c color grading with those type of files you have! omg you can do more than just color board . play with the wheel, curves, hue /saturation then you can throw a nice look at the end either by Luts or you just create one preset and save it . good work and keep it up.

Thanks so much! Such a greatly explained video!! I'd really love to you know what colour space you set on your macbook pro (seeing that you seem to do everything on it - no monitor extra). I used to let the default setting which is LCD on my retina 2016 macbook pro but when I export an edited project it comes out a lot more saturated and warm than the colours I see on fcpx while editing (on original files -no proxies). Any tips, experience sharing or wise advices on the subject??? Thanks so much

Thumbs up, Great video! I struggle a good bit with getting my camera settings right shooting LOG and I feel like I always have a hard time bringing the color back into the shot. That coral reef vid clip looks identical to my situation so I'm going to give it a go, should most def work! Do you apply any luts on your color corrected imag?

Hey Zac! Thanks for the feedback. I always use LUTs on my graded footage, but only slightly so that I don't push the colours over the edge. How did your shot turn out!?
