Hi Alex! I'm glad you find this useful! In general I think all the slugs did great except the 33.5... In the video I got 2 flyers with The Hybrids but I think the slug were damaged due to the high tech shipping package used by Steve because I tested them again and they did a better group! Looking at the pellet accuracy test I did and comparing with this I can say the gun did better with slug than what it did with pellets, that's insane!
I’m having great results with the 29.5 grain NSA slugs at 940 FPS. I have not turned the reg up in my new Impact past 120 bar but after seeing your results with the heavier slugs I’m gonna have to try them out soon. I’m glad Mr. Nielsen sales sampler pack for this reason. Keep up the experimenting and thanks for posting your results.
Oh yes! I'm glad I was able to order the sample pack, because when I was ready to order I was scratching my head... what to order? I think in general they all did well, except the 33.5, I will go out again (off camera) and will shoot all the slugs I have in a single group I think I have around 20 of each, and see the final results, sometimes a 5 shot group can't tell the entire story, that will give me the data I need

Hola amigo!!!
Great. Those slugs grouped fairly well. Slugs are the next evolution in the airgun world. The higher velocities and rifled barrels of the new PCPs make shooting diabolo pellets a coin toss after 50 yards. Try lubricating the slugs before shooting them, I use off the shelf silicone spray lubricant. Petroleum based lubricants may cause the slug to diesel. Great video.
Hi Billy I'll try lubricating them, I have 100% silicone oil I use on my compressor I'll let a drop on the plastic bag and test them, nice advice, thanks!
The heavier slug might be going a lot slower, but it will not be pushed off target by cross winds as much and it will be delivering much more energy at the target, so adjusting for tragectory is the only issue at the existing power level.
It's good, the trigger is very very good! That bolt is something to get used to, it's not as smooth as other rifles, that's for sure, and I think they knew it, reason why the Prophet is coming with a different mechanism! But to me is not a deal breaker, ohh you can change the bolt with the new Prophet mechanism, AoA is selling the kit
I don't have a RTI Priest2, don't shoot slugs and don't kill iguanas... still watched every bit of it :-). Seeing how you labor to cock the Preist2 cured my desire to own one... cheeky but true. It will take semi-auto for me to upgrade from my Taipan Veteran Compact .22 as I don't the same power requirements you do. I noticed that the two flier for the FX Hybrids grouped, and it looks like they ended up in the same spot as the NSA 29 gr (low, left).... I wonder if there is more to it than just random fliers (harmonics, something loose so it jumps between two zeros, regulator not being stable etc). I get the drop between weights, any idea why they skew left? The 29.5 didn't or slight right?! Great job, btw, on running the test and just reporting the facts (instead of falling into the trap of trying to explain away the data). Are there any design differences between the NSA slugs other than weight (obviously, you need to that weight somewhere)? You get remarkable accuracy you got with the 38.5gr compared to the rest. Slugs, I read, do better at distance, so I wonder if the protocol of testing at 40 yd is still valid to determine what would work better at 100+ yd?
Allan Wind! You are right, I’m not a fan of the straight pull of this gun, but the new lever available on the new Prophet is going to be offered and can be installed, I think it will be one of the first upgrades I’ll do. The FX Hybrids did better than that during another test I did later, it was too hot and I didn’t want the video to be too long, I think some of the slugs might be damaged during shipping...don’t know if you noticed the super high tec package Steve sent me lol. I think in general the slugs did really well, with some tuning I think this gun will do great with them. Exactly what I wanted to test.
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter Yeah, I read your comment about damage to the FX Hybrids. If that was the case you would get shotgun pattern, right? You got two groups with the FX Hybrids and to me, that suggest gun, mat, shooter, etc. You looked very steady to me, so it might require slow motion to see anything of interest. Did anything change between when you shot the FX Hybrids and the NSA 38.5 gr? What, if anything, was different in the later session where you shot the FX Hybrids with better success? If you have matching chronograph data it would allow you to eliminate difference in power (regulator, etc) as the culprit. I know you only had so many slugs; 5 shots might not give you the full picture. Hope it's helpful?
Orion, don't you have to be concerned about your back drops, and any possibility of ricochets while shooting around those HMOs and canals surrounded by residences? When you increase bullet weight and velocity you increase the chance of ricochets. Only you know your situation. I'm just thinking out loud. I enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Totally right! I'm not sure I'll be shooting them as a regular basis, I was just curios to try them on my gun! I'm still using the JSB Kings but I'm having a lot of pass through with them and I don't like that, I need to find something that expand and stay there, maybe slugs a low speed will do the trick, I'm not doing super long range so I think I can lower the speed if they group well. Need to test with that, but you are right, my main concern is to avoid ricochets, and I'm having those a lot with the pellets right now.
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter Orion, you probably know this too, the Hades will expand down to 600 FPS, so that will definitely work well for you. You could simply dial in the velocity you want to work with. Your rifle and optics are incredible!! Shoot safe! Stay safe!
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter Have you tried the Polymags? I am always skeptical of the pass-through argument because it's not helping you if you miss... I mean, the target moved on you unexpectedly.
Fantastic testing. You need a ballistic panel from ATS airgun Target systems. It's perfect for your situation. Much better than a container with mulch or clothes inside. I used to use exactly the same thing as a backstop. And after hundred shots are so I always had to repack my back stop. With a ballistic panel you will not have to worry about that. I subscribed I'm looking forward to your future videos. Love the iguana hunting videos that I watched in the past.
Hi Mitch! Thanks for stopping by! I didn't know about the Ballistic Panel from ATS. Did a quick research and indeed looks interesting! Will think about it, thanks for the information. This box I'm using is really handy, I've use it for hundred of shots and is holding really well, when the rubber mulch inside gets thin I sift it and refill with more fresh rubber mulch, and I do this every 3 to 4 month, so not a lot of work to me! The panel looks interesting but a bit pricey for what I use, sure I think it's better, will think about it! I think I'll be publishing an iguana hunting soon, so stay tuned :) Thanks for the sub!
Great Video. Why didnt you try lighter slugs like NSA 20.2, 23, and 24.8 grains. What is the barrel you are using? is it the regular one or the high power one? what are the diameters of the NSA slugs you tested? I am interested to buy Priest 2 thats why I am asking :)
Because that gun is .25 caliber. I tested on that video all available weights of NSA slugs, including the Hybrids, nothing was left out. Those light weights you are mentioning are for the 22 caliber
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter ahaaaa .... i am looking in to buying .22 .... went to the shop today ... but did not like the bolt action ! Its eather I wait for mk3 ... or order one with the side lever kit installed. But would the .22 shoot slugs as good as .25 ?
Some time I think 3-5 shot is good enough to tell you which pellet or slug will work with your rifle , no need to send 3-5 more through the same hole 😁 Maybe a table with a rifle shooting rest, might eliminate some human factor
Thanks for the info. Not bad results at all. Cant wait for the next as mentioned, .... the long range testing and speeds. Please get the phleum and give us info on that too. Then I can get it... or not for my Priest
Hi Michael! I can tell you I like it more! It took me some time to get used to this gun, the first few weeks I was still missing my Taipan, but not anymore. I'm looking forward to replace the cocking straight pull with the new lever that comes with the Prophet! And with that change I think I have the rifle I need. The shot count in .25 cal is insane. I can go hunting without taking the tank with me, that is really important for my hunting style.
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter thanks for the response. I was looking at the prophet last night alot. Was thinking wildcat mk3 but after some bad reviews and you with this gun I feel I have replaced my wants. Im also in south Florida. Ready to up grade my iguana tool as well. Have a good holiday man.
A couple of comments on two aspects of your testing and future slug use. I think shooting off that mat looks like it would have some spring to it which would make your groups jump around. I would think using a blanket to lay on to give better mono-pod to ground contact would be better or using a bag to set the stocks buttpad on. Next in you situation shooting around houses and water I would be concerned about the safety factor. Slugs are a chunk of lead that retains its energy and does not slow down and loose energy like pellets. The new .25 FX Hybrids and NSA slugs do not expand much which mean they would be more prone to ricochets particularly with the low angles you shoot at and if a slug makes it to the water. Since it looks like most of your shots in your videos look to be less than 75 yards pellets in my opinion would be the better choice. Best regards.
Hi buddy! Very good comment! Thanks for that! I already mentioned this in a comment before and you are absolutely right, I'm not planning using slugs on my hunting, at least not when I'm shooting near the house and the water, but I was curios about the slugs on this gun and that's why I did the test. Regarding the Mat, I don't see any problem with it. I'm holding the monopod with my other hand is it feels rock solid, but I know said. I don't think any of the shots that miss the mark was because of me, the gun was really solid and you can see the crosshair was not moving at all, the shots that went out is because they were out! Currently I'm having a lot of pass through with the JSB Kings because they don't expand and well, I'm searching for something better. I'm thinking that maybe slugs at low speed can do the trick, I'll test next the expansion! I'm doing all of this so I can find the best configuration having in mind exactly that, I don't want the pellet going out after it hit the iguana, it should stay there! Hey, thanks for the comment! Really appreciated
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter Ok good to hear you were thinking about the safety factor with shooting slugs but there still could be hope to use them. The problem with the .25 cal. over the .22 cal is the more weight for the pellet or slug the harder it is to slow down it's momentum. As far as most slugs go in .25 caliber they weigh a fair amount and as I said most don't expand much. One exception is the Varmint Knockers but they start at over 30 grains. The slug make that might do the trick are the Griffin LDC's which expand exceptionally well and can be had as light as 23 grains in .25 caliber. In my opinion it still would be very hard to expect a 25 cal. slug or pellet to stay within the head of an iguana but if you can loose most of the energy that would be good. As far as pellets go most with their big hollow point head won't be accurate if you push them too fast. However I have had good results with the H&N Baracuda Hunters and Polymags if they will fit your magazine. Lastly another choice which sounds like it might not work would be the H&N Field Target Trophy at only 20.06 grains are very accurate for me and can be pushed very fast but since they are so light they loose their energy very quickly and will not over penetrate. Just some thoughts.
GunPowder&AirPower The Baracuda Hunter Extreme I was using with the Taipan, the ones with the crazy spirals were never going through the iguana. I tested bunch of those pellets on my previous accuracy video and I was really impressed by any, the Polymags did worst, and that was a pellet that was grouping awesome on the Taipan, maybe need to tweak the speed on some of those other pellets and test again.
Hi OO. Are those slugs 217 or 218. Which slugs would be better for the Priest 2? I have the options with .22 cal (different weights) H&N's but not sure to get the 217 or 218

Nice. Been thinking about trying these in the .25 Bullboss. Now that the Liberty MK2/ Avenger .25 is on its way...looking forward to trying these slugs in it. Easier to adjust than the Liberty’s by a touch. 6-30 was the ETA now 7-20 ETA😡🤬 Customs suck! Great shooting my friend. Can’t wait to see iguanas popping! That is a very nice scope and gun. Thinking about the Wildcat MK3 and the Prophet next. But I couldn’t pass up a .25 cal Liberty...well sort of😂 Take care and god bless my friend. Gonna make some silicone tipped Hunters for the Avenger.👍
Hi my dear friend! Steve did a review on that Avenger and it shoot slugs very very well, Impressive for a budget PCP. I'm glad you are getting one! I'm cooking some ideas to use the silicone tipped ammo in a video, will see if I can do something interesting with them
I can tell it's hot and humid, uff I don't do well in that kinda weather! I'm sure this weather you're experiencing may also affect the shooting ballistic valuation. I would not mind at all though, pesting for those dinosaurs :-) One thing that's very noticeable is the cocking effort on that rifle, good thing the RTI-Prophet that came out after the Priest has an actual lever, seems so much more smoother... If you can take down those beasts with pellets, I'd use them it's way cheaper in the long run. Slugs are great, especially at high speeds, for a tad bigger game like a REX dinosaur lol, or for pesting/hunting pigs! Your in a great situation there! You can legally hunt those beasts! How cool is that!!
Awesome. Now you got me thinking of trying my new Avenger.25 with silicone tipped Hunter pellets. Too bad I can get Daisy to make DHPs in .25🤔WHAT??? Wouldn’t that be so freakin awesome...shut the front door! Oh well enough of dream land at the moment. The H&N Barracuda Hunter Pellets have a very similar expansion according to my personal tests that are measured with a micrometer. The DHPs expanded to .33-35 caliber at 900 FPS and so did the Hunters. Granted the Hunters are 3 grains heavier but still. That’s a lot of “SMACK” and “POP” my friend. Yes sir, I did get some .25 Hades ordered from PYA but didn’t pull the trigger on .25 Hybrids or any other slug for the .25. Remember...I have an LCS SK-19 in .22...the most versatile caliber available...arguably...that is just SICK when it comes to downrange energy and accuracy. Twist my wrist and WOW! AMAZING Honestly...the only thing that I have to beat it in power is a rim-field honestly. Just crazy. This Avenger is to replace a Bullboss that I’m not to fond of plus it is a completion of my Liberty collection...now in .177-.22 and finally...well sort of....25 caliber. I can’t wait. You have to admit...it is basically a Liberty MK2...RIGHT? Thanks for the awesome footage and showing us the magnificence of the RTI. What an amazing gun. Your a very lucky guy to have one. Take care my friend.
OMG, somehow I missed this message of yours, and this is a shame on my part. My friend, I have a few pellets I ordered in .25 caliber, just yesterday I ordered few of the Hades in .25 but I've been thinking a lot about ordering the .22 caliber kit and convert the Priest to a .22 so I can test those Daisy HP with the silicone tips on my Priest. The kit is not that expensive and I think it will be interesting to do, It's supper easy to do! What do you think my friend?
Nice video, interesting on the best group.....I am wondering if maybe slower would be better for the lighter ones. Sounds counterintuitive but who knows. Plenum will tell the story. I could not get the FX slugs to shoot at all out of my Armada (regulated, shoots pellets at 840fps) I am not too worried though, I have lots of Hades which I can take yellow jackets out at 45 yards. Keep saying I should video that but haven't yet. Peace brother air gunner.
Yes, usually a lot of testing is needed to find the right speed and grouping for the slugs, I was amazed by how well the slugs did out of the box, without any change. How are those Hades doing? I want to order some in .25 caliber.
You won't be sorry for getting them. Teds holdover has a good video on them. Starling Anchor is the title. I had to do a little tuning (minor) and have not looked back. Funny thing is I was shooting JSB Kings 25.4gr before. Now they and the Hades shoot the same. Might be that the Hades is modeled after the monster profile. Anyhow, I know they will anchor iguanas as well. I just ordered an Air Venturi Avenger in .22.....after watching the reviews I decided it would be perfect for what I use a .22 for. I am still saving up for my .30 Impact my ultimate dream shooter.

FX's slugs seem to be about as hit and miss as their Impacts: 50/50 chance of them working properly outa' the box. 🤷♀️
NSA 29 grain - Nice!
NSA 29.5 grain - Very Nice! [And those were dead on vertically / no variation horizontally - comparing to your zero]
NSA 30.2 grain - Not bad at all! Tight, especially since we know that they require more pressure/power.
NSA 38.5 grain - Outstanding! Yup.. I think you just found the your 'winner'!
Great shooting & Great testing brother!!

Hola amigo!!!
Wow liked the heavy boys impressive. Fun test.
Thank you! Ian, those heavy did an amazing group! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Hi,thanks for the information about NSA slug, great job! What is the monitor that on top of your rifle?thanks
Aloha Orion. Like your iguana hunts. What scope model is on your priest 2. Have a great hunt.
Hi Vince, that's a Tract Toric 4-20x50 FFP, good glass for the video quality!
Your work is very nice👌
The heavier slug might be going a lot slower, but it will not be pushed off target by cross winds as much and it will be delivering much more energy at the target, so adjusting for tragectory is the only issue at the existing power level.
Hi umvhu, you are right! I was really surprised by that group! They might do great vs Iguanas
Great video! Thanks.

Great video. I may have to get "The Priest." Good price. Shoots well. How's the trigger ? That bold seems a bit tough.
Great video Brother! Get that bigger plenum and that Priest 2 will be dialed in!
How are you liking the Priest 2 so far? You have it fixed up nice!
Hi Robert! I like this gun, it check my main points... accuracy and shot count. Everything else is a bonus.
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter
Are you OK with the straight pull bolt instead of the side lever?
Never mind. I saw your comment below on this subject.

@@pmtips4482 I need to order a tin of those to test them out!
@@OriOnTheIguanaHunter Have you tried the Polymags? I am always skeptical of the pass-through argument because it's not helping you if you miss... I mean, the target moved on you unexpectedly.
Hallo,wich Barrel have your Airgun?
Great video mate!!
Hi James! Glad you enjoyed it!
I think I'll be publishing an iguana hunting soon, so stay tuned :)
Thanks for the sub!
Some time I think 3-5 shot is good enough to tell you which pellet or slug will work with your rifle , no need to send 3-5 more through the same hole 😁
Maybe a table with a rifle shooting rest, might eliminate some human factor
Thanks for the info. Not bad results at all. Cant wait for the next as mentioned, .... the long range testing and speeds. Please get the phleum and give us info on that too. Then I can get it... or not for my Priest
Will do! I want to get the Plenum and also the cocking lever so I can update the loading on the rifle
Im sure you are having fun with a new gun learning it and pushing its new limits. Be interested in a few months if you like it more then your taipan.
I tested bunch of those pellets on my previous accuracy video and I was really impressed by any, the Polymags did worst, and that was a pellet that was grouping awesome on the Taipan, maybe need to tweak the speed on some of those other pellets and test again.
what power did you use??
Awesome. Now let's give some iguanas headaches!
Hi Mark! For the headache Steve sent me some pills, did you see the package for the Hybrids?? 😉

Nice. Been thinking about trying these in the .25 Bullboss. Now that the Liberty MK2/ Avenger .25 is on its way...looking forward to trying these slugs in it. Thinking about the Wildcat MK3 and the Prophet next. But I couldn’t pass up a .25 cal Liberty...well sort of😂 Take care and god bless my friend.
I would not mind at all though, pesting for those dinosaurs :-)
One thing that's very noticeable is the cocking effort on that rifle, good thing the RTI-Prophet that came out after the Priest has an actual lever, seems so much more smoother...
I can't agree more with everything you just said here! Take care buddy!
