    Orion, NT from AGN here. Well done sir! That DIY will undoubtedly help a lot of people that have been on the fence about trying it.
    However I'm sorry your barrel turned out the way it did. Now you have to buy the pricey Polymags :)
    Your method has several little differences compared to mine and your results speak for themselves so that just goes to show there's more than one way to get to the finish line.
    I will say I initially thought you may have done the Rolite polish and J-B in the wrong order. I haven't used the Rolite but they're calling it a polish. Of course "polish" is not a quantitative term but I do not consider J-B to be a polish so my assumption was those two would have been better done in reverse. However I saw your reply below addressing this:
    "I have had more than one person on the comments recommending starting with the JB paste first, but when I tried on my knife I had the feeling this metal polish had a bigger grit than the JB paste, I can "hear" and "feel" the polisher but with the paste was more like applying a wax, smooth, that's why I followed that order.
    "
    Perfect! For others reading along, if you're wanting to improvise different abrasive compounds, that's exactly what you want to do. Try them on a piece of polished steel like a knife blade and see if it hazes the surface or takes it to a finer polish. In order to help knock down the surface fretting left over from the drawing and/or rifling processes, most new bores are going to benefit from starting with something coarse enough to haze a polished surface. Then move on to a finer compound if desired.

      I cant remove the crown of my break barrel. Its a Cros nitro piston with a "silencer" at the end. Yet my brass cleaning rod wont reach the crown. Should I leave the crown alone or just come in with the rod on the other side. The crown is steel so the brass brush shouldnt ruin the crown?

    Yep, polishing a bbl. can do wonders. Even more so in a slug shooter. I like to end with a polish with
    German Flitz no abrasive polish. In one of my Custom Talon/Dor 257's the gun went from a 50 shot gun before accuracy suffered, to a 300+ shot gun. The
    FX superior heavy slug barrel I installed in the Raptor can go for a couple thousand slugs now. Unreal!
    Nice vid!

      @OriOnTheIguanaHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike!! Nice to see you on the channel! WOW 300+ shots is unreal. I'm planning using slugs on this barrel again. The last time I use them the accuracy was outstanding. I need to test them now after the polishing, at least pellets did great.
      This metal polish works really fast, I have had more than one person on the comments recommending starting with the JB past first, but when I tried on my knife I had the feeling this metal polish had a bigger grit than the JB past, I can "hear" and "feel" the polisher but with the past was more like applying a wax, smooth, that's why I followed that order. You are using a different polish, German Flitz and no abrasive, maybe with that one the order can be inverted like some have suggested.
      Have you tried this Rolite before? The knife I tested this looks like a mirror! I'm amazed by that stuff

    • @michaell397
      @michaell397 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No Sir, I'm not familiar with the product Rolite. I do sometimes cheat. I have quite a selection of professional Knife polishing compounds here that I from time to time melt onto a bore swab and put af finishing polish on the bore. A full blown mirror. I remember Matt D. stating that a full polish was not good as a textured glass window would allow your finger to glide over it, where as a normal clear glass would squeak and have more friction. . I guess he forgot that we use lube. Which gives exactly the opposite results. ;

    Thank you for this video bud. I just realized how thick the barrel is on your gun. My most consistent PCP…meaning the one gun that is almost never knocked out of POI and almost never needs adjusted, also has the thickest barrel. My .25 caliber SK-19 has a barrel that is thicker than barrels I have on some of my rim fire rifles. 1/2”-5/8” or so. I think these PCPs with thinner barrels are more dependent on the shrouded and barrel bands to maintain POI. I bet you seldom have to adjust your scope on your RTI. That would make a heck of a truck gun in a compact rifle configuration bud. My SK-19 hangs all the time by hooks on the head rests of my truck. One supports the stock by the magazine and the other supports the LCD. On or off road vibrations and stress do not effect my accuracy. I take shots frequently past 100 yards on pigeons and it never fails to hit the spot. Really good design RTI came out with. Stay safe and God bless you and yours my friend.

    Great work Erlis very much appreciated. I do believe I will give this a whirl on all my rifles to see what happens. My Armada is one of my "untouchables" in that it is extremely accurate just the way it is but ever so often I see a wobbler and/or get an odd shot result so a polishing should really tighten this rifle's results. Another product that I use in all my firearms and air rifles is FP-10 Lubricant elite by Shooter's Choice. I live where the temperatures range a lot, esp in winter. This stuff is good from -49F to 500degrees F! I have never had issue hunting elk in Montana where the temperatures can dip to -20degrees F during the hunt. No action or trigger freezing, works the same warm and cold. Ballistol oil and FP10 are the only things I use on my air rifles.

    • @OriOnTheIguanaHunter

      Hi Bret! I have FP-10 but I've never used it on the airguns, I wasn't sure it was safe on the o-rings, I know that FP-10 is magical, I used to have a door that always was giving the terror movie sound, a couple of drops of FP-10 and for months no more sound, magic! I'll give it a try on the barrel! Great idea

    I do the pretty much the same process but use the JB bore paste
    first...its more abrasive and deep cleaning and then follow up with the metal polish...I use Flitz metal polish!
    Great video anyhow and it looks like it works your way too...lol.

    • @OriOnTheIguanaHunter
      @OriOnTheIguanaHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James,
      You are not the first one mentioning those two products and the order change, using JB first. I tried the Rolite on my knife and I can tell you that it feels way more abrasive than the JB, while applying I could even hear the grit, the JB was feeling more like a wax. Maybe the rolite is too abrasive and I should have tried with Flitz.... Or maybe I should do this... Rolite, JB, then Flitz, for a more fine polish, I can try that on my knife but to tell you the true, Rolite alone was awesome, it started with the high grit and looks like after applying the particles becomes finer and finer, I don't know how to describe it, I really liked that product, give it a try and polish something first to feel how the product work, I'm really impressed with it.

    • @OriOnTheIguanaHunter
      @OriOnTheIguanaHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just followed what I read and just wanted to do that.... You are not the first one saying bore compound first then polish, to me... this metal polish is way more abrasive than the bore compound.... I tested the products on my knife and with the metal polish I can feel the grit, like if I were doing a sanding... I just followed what I though was the finer product at the end.... maybe another polisher has a finer grit but this one is serious, if you ended up buying, give it a try, my knife looks like a mirror! I just hope my barrel looks the same!

  • @humblemanor2376
    @humblemanor2376 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used a Napier pull through kit to clean the barrel first. always push a few pellets through first so you can gauge where any tight spots are that might require extra work. I just use Autosol and a length of cotton hem tape 3 - 4 times the length of the barrel with a few knots tied close together in the middle. I pull knotted section end to end (but not out of the muzzle ) about 20 times. Next clean with the pull through kit and push a few more pellets through. If still feeling any tight spots concentrate on those areas only clean with the pull through kit and try a few more pellets through. You can use this to reduce an extra tight choke too but will need to check the crown afterwards.

Hey if you can't find the right products over there, well you will need at least the metal polish but I think that should be available there, maybe not the same brand but I think any metal polish should work, but check this out. A guy told me he used a paracord rope, need to find the right diameter for the barrel, he added the polisher to the rope and used around 10 meters of ropes, and push the rope one time through the barrel... another clean rope to remove material and done! In less than 5 mins it was polished, very very interesting.... Happy Holidays for you too my friend

    Excelente informacion
    El proceso de pulir los cañones siempre ayudará a la precision, al igual que un cañon limpio. A lo largo del tiempo he comprobado que los rifles que tienen muchos disparos hechos, siempre agrupan mejor si estan limpios. Es un hecho que este proceso de pulir deberia realizarse con cada rifle nuevo, puesto que la maquinaria que hace el estrillado realmente no pule al 100%. Es por eso que todos los rifles tienen un periodo de asentamiento que oscila entres 200 y 500 disparos, y es porque los pellets hacen el trabajo de pulir los cañones.
    Sigue adelante y duro con las iguanas. saludos desde guatemala

    Just use WD silicone spray on the pellets then let them air dry and you won't ever have a dirty barrel. 8000 shots with my impact mk3 and it's still super clean. Not regular WD 40, it's the yellow can of WD 40 silicone edition spray. You soak all your pellets then spread them on a towel to dry for a day and your barrel will neer gum up again as long as you always pre-treat new tins of pellets every time. Pro extreme bench rest shooters do this.

    • @OriOnTheIguanaHunter
      @OriOnTheIguanaHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the rope is a good way to clean the barrel, I have yet to try that! The idea with polishing is that we will remove the micro burrs created around the rifling so less lead is catch on the groves and so less damage to the pellet and less dirt accumulated over time, it looks like it worked, but as I said on the video, only time will tell. I was experiencing some accuracy issue because barrel was needing a clean, will see now! Hey Merry Christmas primo!!!

    Nice that it worked out good for you. Did do the polishing thing years ago on my AA Pro Target in 177. Did not work out very well. Barrel was/is a CZ S200. Did take the better part of a tin of pellets to lead the barrel and shoot wel again. Since then I only clean my barrels when groups get bigger. Use a pull through til the patch gets clean. Then shoot up to 20/25 times to settle. Never had good grouping from a super clean barrel. Counting in my power burners. Also find it fascinating that different pellets shoots equally well. Maybe cause they are all by JSB.

      Different barrels like different methods, I remember my Taipan was similar to what you are describing. But in this rifle I noticed that after a clean the groups are great. Maybe it has to do with the tolerances inside the barrel, if it's too tight vs a bit more lose.
      The fact these 3 pellets did well is not because they are JSB, you can see how the Polygams were doing before, not a single hole! Hades were grouping also before but not as well as this time... I've been learning a lot by reading the comments! Thanks for posting, really appreciate it!

      I'm a machinist and honestly when you're polishing, you can go back and forth. The mop will conform to the interior surface. What is important is to clean it well between the two polishing compounds. What its doing is hitting any high spots and smoothing out any rough surfaces. The mop will not change the inner diameter of the bore and thats a very good thing.

      Hola, te entiendo pero tengo una teoría. El tema de los cañones smooth twist de FX (la idea original no es de FX, es de Ben Taylor en prototipos que vi hace casi 15 años) tienen un ánima semilisa desde el transfer port hasta N centímetro de la corona. Las ventajas del este tipo de cañones es, sobretodo, que no se necesita tanta potencia al evitar rotacion y deformidad severa en el pellet. Imaginemos por un momento que cojes un cañon y le pones una baqueta con una terminacion de BRASS (mucho más suave que el acero) y le añades pulimento y te dedicas a pulir durante horas (cambiando el brass, por supuesto) dejando sin pulir los últimos 15/20 cm. Conseguiriamos mejor precisión? No lo sé. Lo que tngo seguro es que las rebabas del transfer port o los malos mecanizados del inicio del cañon lo dejarás a la mínima expresión.
      Por cierto como es el cañón CZ de RTI? He visto en Klibrguns algunas deficiencias (subsanables pero deficiencias) en el mecanizado. El tuyo es L-W?

      RTI saco dos "barrels" el del Prophet is completamente diferente, tiene un twist rate mas lento, creo que lei que es 1 en 32 y esta disennado para long range pellet, aunque hay quienes lo usan con slugs tambien, pero yo en lo personal no lo he usado. El que tiene mi rifle (el Priest2) es un CZ con twist rate 1 en 17 y me gusta muchisimo, pues es preciso con casi todos los pellets que he probado y tambien tira slugs... hay un video que puse por ahi y los grupos son increibles.... una de las razones que no me he comprado el Prophet es porque me gusta mucho este cannon
