Dawid is a simple man, he see's two sticks of ram he's happy, be like dawid.
4gb x 2 😈😈
@@thesocker7920 😅
but then they don’t apply XMP out of the box so it just kinda cancels out
and then is my laptop which came with 16GB dual channel... with 8GB soldered in
@@odioalospoopers Who would do such a thing !?
I love the "please remove foam from the inside" bit since it apparantly shipped without supportive foam on the inside..
Yup noticed that as well
MSI: Why do people keep returning perfectly functional PCs?
Starlit Partner: Apparently they didn't get the foam "they were promised".
Dawid already removed it 🤔
@@Joreel yeah, probably. But we shall never know i suppose.(well unless he reads this and answers)
@@Grimmwoldds That’s the only explanation. 😂
Why do all these pre built cases have less airflow than an Egyptian tomb?
Looks over practicality, I guess.
Hilarious comment!! HAHA
Since I've seen the bundling of MSI Afterburner mentioned multiple times recently - MSI Afterburner isn't a Micro-Star International product, it's being developed by Alexey Nicolaychuk (a.k.a. Unwinder from Guru3D forums), who is also responsible for RivaTuner (and subsequently RTSS), Asus GPU Tweak and formerly EVGA Precision X.
two layers of turtle death is better then one you know
When I saw the two words 'pre' and 'built' together, I knew this was going to be a fun ride
oh yes dawid just knows how to make prebuilt reviews soooo well
I can't be the only one who's first thought every time is "does it have dual channel RAM?"
@@SteTechGaming That definitely is mine. Even the system having 16Gb doesn’t always mean it’ll be dual channel. 😅
Why are pre-built PCs like this generally so dodgy anyway?
@@indigomizumi very low profit margins. So you generally want to nickel and dime every area you get.
When the bundeled not really e-waste peripherals cost you a "doesn't set the house on fire" powersupply in your pre-build... 😬
well not yet anyways there is always the future for it to light things up on fire
Also worth noting how that power supply has a fake 80 plus certification. Not only does it have a gold label and say that its bronze certified, but the ''plus'' is literally misaligned. Also, no, it does not appear on clearesult 80 plus certified psu list.
It's crazy to think that MSI might even consider working with a company fake certifying its PSUs.
Would have been neat to how much temps changed with a 120mm fan added to the front of the case
Yeah, it's pretty weird the MSI original case didn't sport even a single fan there. I guess withholding that one dollar addition is what saves MSI from bankruptcy.
yea i would rather see that than all these youtube guys always case swapping im like man, we know you guys can case swap lets see you make the case work!
@@UTFapollomarine7409 yup lol i remember when i built my first pc i had a deepcool tesseract pc case. Replaced the stock 120mm screamyboi with the 140 from a noctua nh-d15, and jankily ziptied a 120mm to the 5.25 drive bay punch outs. That thing was cool and quiet after that
cable management is an art, the CPU Power Cables can be tucked behind the PSU, the 24 pin along with other cables including Pcie power can be ziptied to the other deeper end of HHD Cage, Audio cable can be tucked behind the motherboard and atlast all the extra cables can be shoved inside the HDD Cage so that they are not visible.
my greatest concern is why Dawid is in a 14c room? its like living inside a freezer at that temp
not quite a freezer but yeah 56 or so farenheight is pretty cold to be wearing short sleeves and being indoors lol.
That’s hot for Canada right? Lol
14° is a freezer?
My room right now is 6°C and I'm loving life lmao
Dawid has a pre-built space heater to keep him warm while gaming... likely can't afford natural gas heat and the electric bill on the pre-built pc close heat system.
I also live in Canada, and yeah it gets cold but jesus Dawid 14C might be time to start the heater.
Guessing he doesn't cause that specific room is mostly unused other than final testing.
That is the most 2001 PC case layout I've seen in a long time. It's like they took a Windows ME era PC, stripped the case out, decorated it, and installed modern components.
You're probably not wrong
“I’m a strong independent woman” 😂😂
I love how Dawid now has his own jargon for pretty much any PC peripheral out there.
I'd like to see Dawid hack the old case to get more airflow.
just take a 6-7mm drill bit to the case
I will put in my 2 cents on the Norton, I have personally used it since 1996 with NAV 4.0, there were some bad times around the release of Norton Security in the early 2000s, but mcafee is trash, the first thing I remove when I get a laptop that has it unfortunately preinstalled (looking at you asus) and the IT department has installed it on my work station by surprise and it has taken my previously deliciously fast work station to something that feels like it has a celeron processor in it and a network card that has never heard the phrase "gigabit speed"
I recently purchased a computer from CLX Gaming, and it was a great experience. I picked out what parts I wanted, they sent me updates on the progress of my build and their customer support was quick to respond. It even arrived 3 days early!
Perhaps, you should do a tour of some of these Choose Your Own Adventure Semi Pre-Builts?
Love watching pre Built vids just too see how building your own is so much better.
Don't underestimate custom builds (i.e. built to order), but yes. Especially since you can save a lot of money.
I have a custom build, because honestly, I can't really be arsed to do the work on a custom loop.
pre builts are better for newcomers though, not everyone has experience building a pc from scratch that takes time to learn
@@moogleking TH-cam exists.
I was looking at a prebuilt back during the pandemic, but decided to hold off and watched youtube videos on how to build one to pass time. When the time came, I built my first PC and it wasn't that hard tbh
@@TheBlueBunnyKen before TH-cam, I read the motherboard manual that gave me the instructions on how to put together my first build, back in 1995. It really helped understand where everything was and what it did.
A couple of years back I made the mistake of getting an MSI Aegis prebuilt. Had to return it when I realized it had zero ability to define fan curves, and it sounded like a jumbo jet, all the time
Its very odd, MSI have had years making nice motherboards, yet don't seem to have any clue about how to do pre-builds
MSI could have used their own power supplies...
Btw Dawid, always fun and entertaining to watch your videos
Yeah but those are probably more expensive than the ewaste bomb
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s always weird to me that companies like Asus and MSI don’t use their own parts in they’re prebuilts.

My 2060 refuses to ramp up to 70° in cyberpunk with high settings. Its always between 59-65°
A pre-built with dual channel RAM.. that feels like it is already christmas :D
mine came with dual channel ram so its not so rare after all
and sauna too
Prebuilt case swaps can indeed make a huge difference. I have an HP Omen 25L that ran ridiculously hot, due to no ventilation in the front and an ewaste CPU cooler---swapped everything into a case with a vented front grill, 2 front fans, and a proper CPU cooler---the difference in temps is like night and day. in fact, the fans don't even ramp up anymore, even while gaming---they don't need to
I had the 5600 XT version of this system with a i5 10th gen. Everything looked good at first. Eventually i would get the screen flickering that would only be fixed with a reboot. Also, i could only have 2 drives in the system. If i added a third, it would not detect which was weird. Went through the bios and all the windows tools i could find to make it work and nothing.
After i did a fresh install of Win11, i had zero issues. I'm guessing MSI did some tinkering to not allow much configuration of their system in the windows image
That would be expected, practically every MSI laptop I have runs better once you reinstall windows. Not sure about the desktops my last boards were gigabyte and Asus but that would be logical.
@@LaurentiusTriarius My current board is a gigabyte aorus board
I love swapping it into a better case. To make it easier on yourself, you could even go open air test bench.
Gamer nexus would have a stroke looking at that air flow for that case
Indeed, he would also choke having found none!
Actually the airflow is correct. In a choked case going all exhaust is the way. With the power consumption of this particular configuration it's good enough.
If you're going to go through the effort of transmigrating the innards of the prebuilt into a quality case, I guess I'd suggest clearing the crud out of the OS by resetting it. Depending on your version, I'd guess the easiest way to do that would be under Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Removing all that bloatware might give a measurable performance boost.
Nice. Their new airflow free case design is excellent, and that awesome top mounted power supply circa 1995. ABS is the only prebuilt PC I would buy. They use shitty cases but they don't use weird Chinese brand PSUs or proprietary stuff. I bought one that came with a thermaltake PSU, Intel m.2, 11400f and a gigabyte 3060 eagle oc. (The gpu brand varies)
Powerspec (Microcenters OEM brand) is pretty good, clean Windows installs and no proprietary hardware.
Everytime David reviews a pre build his room gets colder
I love watching dawid, the amount of dedication he has to make these videos is incredible, keep it going.
I've had a flawless Cooler Master HAF 932 (High Air Flow) case for a decade, with numerous giant fans and vents everywhere, and it's hilarious to see all the pretty lighted ovens people like now.
That cable management is late 90s level
Early 2000s vibe
i bought a Codex R from Costco awhile back and that little thing was a beast I7 10k/3060/16gb/ 2TB. I did not see any heat or bluescreen while i had it. Sold it to build a 5900x 3070ti.
When he was opening it he said "I can do this I'm a strong independent women" 🤣🤣🤣 sent me to the floor
Yea, I had to rewind to check if I misheard him
@@lemiru it's awesome lol
I’m looking to buy my first gaming pc this month would this still be a decent go to for 1000?
why the hell is the ambient temp 14 degrees 😂 great review as always, I love your addiction to prebuilts
Its not like Canada is on the equator.
Just Canadia things
Canadian Climate and British/US implementation of heating and insulation. 😉
WAIT DAWID DOESNT LIVE IN AUSTRALIA?
I’m planning on buying this on Boxing Day is this recommended for a first gaming pc
I really liked the 45 angle fan... seems a good idea
It why I chose this case for my very first build. I chose a XFX 6800xt which is huge (330mm), and this fan is absolutely perfect for it
So how many fans are in this unit? One in the front and back or just one in the back?
Thanks for all your hard work making these videos Dawid. Your sense of humour with your tech knowledge makes for good content!
I am so glad I built my own linux pc. I do have a MSI b560m pro motherboard. I got a little logo sticker. It has an intel i5 11500 cpu w/ big air cooler and fan. Nx 410 case and 600w power. 32GB RAM /1TB M.2 / GTX 1660 Super OC Graphics card. Running Regata OS 22 Linux. I really like how these mid tower cases really keep everything cool. There are 5 fans running but I can barely hear them.
Dawid deserves well over a million subscribers.
pretty decent. the high temps on gpu can be fixed with a mild undervolt.
These kinds of videos are really fun to watch :D
Great Video, my little highlight here, the nice prejudice of the never freezing Canadian, 12.7°C, Dawid only in Tshirt, perfectly fine. :D
Changing out for an enclosed water cooler unit on the cpu might give a tad better performance too. The new EVGA CLX-series cooling system looks "cool" with its onboard lcd display if you can get your hands on a review unit Dawid.
2012 called they want their case back
Genuinely one of the better prebuilds
Yeah especially a cheaper one with a cheaper GPU.
Most prebuilts seem to use a design that's good for an entry system but stick high end high heat generating parts in them.
14°C ? You don't need any blankets?
I talk too much in class, I think I need to get a be quite fan so I can give my teachers a break.
The inside of the case looks like it uses tooling from 25years ago. They left out some metal that was once reserved for 3,5" drives but all in all the same, just painted on the inside and some plastic on the outside.
This isnt that bad to be honest!
I know its more expensive, but getting a better PSU and maybe 2 noctua fans (1 intake, 1 exhaust) might help the temps
Or just opening the side panel when using the pc
its only the gpu that is hot, easily fixed with a undervolt without losing any performance.
I'd have to leave that panel open for awhile my cat love the non modular PSU cheap plastic mesh wire covering. That's under warranty no?
in no way you should spend more then 700 bucks for this pc, let alone 1400 bucks which is the current sale price lol
they sell those cheap boxes for much profit, 1000 bucks are their profit atleast and you get the 500 buck part, so its bad, a running car isnt a good car aswell.
one thing i want to mention, here in Europe (at least in sweden) 99% of prebuilds come with dual channel ram and a decent cooler + decent airflow
I love these prebuilt videos! Wild ride every time 😂
Nice to see their keeping cases from 2011 out of the landfill.
yep, anytime i want serial ports, i just pop them out haha
8:08 In the BIOS could you please test "AVX-512 Support"? Some motherboards can add back AVX-512 by swapping out an old version of the microcode. That would be an insane feature to add to a cheap prebuilt.
I'm not sure if the 12400 ever had AVX-512, but the 12900/12700's did.
So it's a bit like the difference between standing on a lego instead of a landmine. You wouldn't want either to happen but you'd choose the landmine as then you wouldn't feel a thing... I mean the lego.

Would have been nice to see you toss a fan or two into the original config before swapping everything to a new case.
You could say the MSI prebuild has a worst Case scenario :)
It's so archaic looking, it's like they found some pallets of old cases they forgot about from mover a decade ago, went "fuck it, this'll do" and threw a PC together in it
Hi i am relatively new to this pc stuff but i bought a similar pc, the MSI Aegis SE (Tower) Gaming Desktop, AMD Ryzen R7-5700G, GeForce RTX 3060, 16GB Memory (dual-chl), 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi, VR-Ready, Windows 11 Home (Aegis SE 5TC-429CA). I downloaded a game called Valorant and i kept getting very low fps, around 20 fps, even with low settings. I do not know if this is a problem with the pc or i did something wrong. I dont know how to fix it, some help would be much appreciated.
Cable management for that style of case isn't absolutely terrible.
If XMP wasn't on, did you check to see if ReBar is also off? Be interesting to see the results between off and on. I'm still running an 8th gen i5 with an RTX 3080. My Gigabyte Z390 mobo supports ReBar and it is enabled but the graphics card cannot take advantage of it. At this stage I'm trying to justify a CPU, Mobo and RAM upgrade if ReBar is worth it on a 3080. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
2:44 It looks like I'm staring a grasshopper in the face, but it's an RGB grasshopper!
the case itself looks like its from 1752 but at least its all standard ATX stuff.
That’s an old school MATX case. PSU on top, no space under the motherboard and everything has to be stuffed in the main cavity. Works fine without a window but hard to make clean looking compared to new cases.
honestly, only youtubers care about power supply brands. Being building computers for more than 20 years when you just used the included generic power supply and never have seen a fire or components damaged by it.
TURTLEDEATH , had me in effin tears !
2 layers of turtle death wrappings is beyond acceptable.
The build and strip montages seemed to be a bit more smooth than usual, I don't know if you've changed your editing approach, the music fit well and those bits were really nice and montage-y. Good job. Keep on rocking.
Dawid is close to 500k subscribers let's get him there.
that case design is ancient, I mean 5.25 bays at the front (but no way to put a drive into them lol), parallel and serial slot covers on the back, a top mounted power supply
that case is older than you think, looks like its setup for a dvd drive, and the drive bays are covered by the plastic fascia
I bet by the time ddr5 is standard they'll be putting in dual channel even though it won't be needed
Here’s what I’m confused about. The power supply is fine but why did msi, go through all of the effort to make this case with a big foot and no bottom airflow. A 140mm fan at the bottom would do wonders. Dawid should drill holes in the bottom to and throw a fan in
It does not make sense to buy a branded prebuilt and everything inside not be the same brand... MSI for example is making pretty much everything you will need to make your own Desktop.
The new case setup would be greatly improved for a few extra bucks by mounting two fans to the top, pulling air out of the case.
This case is so bizarre to me, it feels like something from 2008 with the plaatic not covering all the way side window, the psu on top, the miserable cable management/drivebays at the top, it's bizarre.
Especially sad because the original Codex had a lot of problems but a great case.
Excellent video, Dawid! Please keep the Elite case around for more prebuilt testing in the future. A constant component is a great way to test just how stifling these crapboxes are.
Why is there a 1980s drive cage in there when there are no drives installed AND if you actually do install some they would be in the way of the only actual air intake this case has?
Or to ask the question shorter: Do manufacturers really still have cases from the early 2000s lying around that they need to get rid of by gluing plastic onto them and selling them as new?
i had a msi infinite s 10th gen. never buying a pre built again
You should test some of the newer HP gaming systems. They greatly improved the cooling and overall are not bad pre-builts in my opinion.
Thanks for doing these pre-built reviews. I didn't buy a pre-built but considered one recently, and if I had known your videos beforehand, I would never have considered one.
I'm pretty sure there were at least three to four bins that GPU picked up after being put into the new case.
The system is so modular that everything inside is just one module.
the inside is just a optiplex without the hard drive cage
Your videos are so good and helpful to see which one will i buy
The best thing Norton ever created is the stand alone uninstall tool.
I was directed to this channel by the toasty bros and it’s become my favourite channel without a doubt I’ve binged watched everything he has posted in the past 2 years in like 3 weeks. Dawid made me realize the importance of a dual ram setup. Even with my ddr3 system it made huge a difference. But no worries I’m upgrading big time from LGA 1150 to LGA 1700 so it’s gonna be a good time.
Also I bought that 1150 board new in 2015 😅
Shouldn't the plastic stickers on NVMe SSD's be removed before placing them under a heatsink makes any sense?
I just got the same NZXT case in black as an XMas gift for my friend who just got into PC gaming. I'm so excited to teach him how to build it
Why do they not include a gaming mouse with gaming PC? I never take the protective film off until it's been damaged. I only just took the film off my GTX 1060 6GB a month ago. I gave it a deepcleaning and new paste and noticed it was wrinkled and damaged. I've had that card for a min of 6 years. I have a watcheven that still has the protective film still on it. I like to do that to make my screens last longer.
"How to make Dawids life better?"
Me: Give him dual channel ram
The E5 case is good looking. But I would maybe have tried getting the cheapest case on the market with decent airflow to show that so little is needed to get good thermals. I mean you can get a case for $30 with better airflow than those OEMs.
I like the case swap it really drive home that the case can really help with airflow.
I snickered heavily when you put that specific nzxt case on the desk as an airflow improvement over MSI's
You would think component brand prebuilt would have pride in their product. You would think their prebuilts would be a showcase for their products.
This PC reminds me of my old computers like 15 years ago. But without back cable management and a modular PSU this is what you get.
Norton did WHAT???
Jokes aside, a pre-installed program Interrupting during gaming on a gaming system is genuinely unacceptable. Pre-installing Norton should be literally illegal
Dawid doing a case swap? You can tell he had spare time that day
What is it with pre-builts featuring mid-2000s cases with some plastic panels thrown on to attempt to make them look better? From what this looks like, it would probably even work better without it... which would actually be kinda interesting to see.
