Need to reinforce firewall behind masters or firewall will flex and break!3/16 plate works good ,and a bracket to steering col. Mount at dash is also a good idea!
Paint them body color. Sand them down and make them smooth and then, that way, you can add some pinstripes to them and make them look even cooler. Real tiny lettering on each saying "Clutch" on one, and "Brakes" on the other. Would be cool. Oh, I hope that y'all are going to add a heavy plate on the inside for the master cylinders. If you don't, over a period of time, they will end up bending the firewall. She's looking purdy darn cool, you guys. Thanks for sharing. Take care and be safe. 😃✌️
Chrome. Brake fluid spills on paint will eat it up. Also, what about firewall reinforcement behind the master cylinders? If you reinforce it under the dash, no worries about the beading on the firewall.
Chrome . It won't matter what color you choose to paint the Sweetheart Roadster later , chrome goes with every color . Lol . You can probably include the master cylinder mounting in the plate you make for the pedals , just to prevent flexing on the firewall sheet metal . Great job !
Chrome with stainless lines for me 👌. Just don't forget to include a strengthening plate that could be included in the pedal assembly. Can't get this far and end up ruining that firewall
I heated my pedal arms and repositioned to the left to keep my under floor cylinders. Took several attempts to be happy with them, but love the result. Going back and seeing your problem, you gotta do what you gotta do to make it work
My comment is about the over all plan of the finished car, chrome was a standard of the time back then, however paint has it's place also. The Sweetheart Roadster is a classic Hot Rod Custom with a collection of the greatest tricks known to the Custom World......that said chrome is fitting....but paint has more depth if pulled off correctly, such as pinstripes or two tones....however you work it out, I am loving the build, it is a modern classic reborn for a new era.....Great job Matt Murray

Sorry, Well I liked it so much I bought a set. Mine were not able to be polished so I will paint them. Question is did you ever try big and little lights on any videos. I may try that on mine. Needless to say I am a fan of those lights. Oh, I worked in a diesel shop so I don't even notice the noise, keep it up. Thanks
Morning Matt & Steve, I bought one of those Ford F1 master cylinders to possibly mount in the floor, it was to big.... As far as chroming the master cylinders...thing is, you have to keep polishing them, I used a re-pop 32 firewall in my 31 Coupe, don't want to drill any holes either..... y'all be safe!! God Bless!!!
I used a Pete & Jakes under the floor pedal set up in my 26 t coupe rat rod. Slick set up with the bracket. Also used a Speedway hydraulic clutch set up. .
What is so special about 1937 LaSalle 4 speed boxes? Particularly that year, it seems. I would suggest adding some vertical reinforcing ribs on the cabin side of the firewall to stop it flexing under pedal pressure.

If you are going body color firewall then chrome em. If you are going more show how about a checker board black/white firewall with chrome m/c or if more of a racer then cream firewall With chrome. Can’t really go wrong. Nice job.
Paint or chrome? I would go with what compliments the look of the engine. If the valve covers get chrome then I would add chrome to the master cylinders and other under hood items. If the motor and valve covers are painted body color than I would paint the master cylinders as well.
Chrome would be nice, but it will also be spendy. I'd just clean them up and paint them with some of that cast iron shade spray paint. I think painting them body color will end up looking like a Maaco paint job where nothing got masked over.

I like how the double master matches the double headlights and double taillights theme. Looking cool!

The '32 firewall beading is a masterpiece of industrial artwork, IMO. So glad you have retained it intact, Matt.

I would build the pedals before worrying about the finish! Leverage and pivots must be figured in, + bracing. Looks good.
