    Todd Durkin Hi, I have been living with extreme numbness, tingling,, pain, and tremor on my right arm all the way down to wrist for close to 20 years! I believe this started after an 'epidural procedure' I had for my neck to relieve headaches I was and still am suffering from. I was fearful of doing the injection and my mom encouraged me to do it and as I remember it the medicine spilled out onto my arm. I had such pain back then I had to go to emergency room! But now these days it's more a numbness issue! I am at a point now where I can barely feel my right arm anymore. It has gotten worse with time. It just feels awful. And it has kept me awake at night with pain as well as the tremors/arm spasms I get mostly in a rest position or lying down. I saw a pain doctor and he addressed many of my health problems, including this one. He ordered an EMG test. In your experience, are those emg's really painful or problematic in arms? They won't make me even worse will they? What are your recommendations for a noise/light/touch sensitive person on autistic spectrum as I am who has multiple health issues, much more sensitivity to everything than neurotypicals have, and everything seems complicated and difficult to achieve! Anything I can tell them to make it easier on me in my testing? And after I get the results what doctor do I need to see and what do I need to do to eliminate this pain and numbness and somehow make my arm normal again? Will I ever be able to feel my arm/wrist again? Thanks!

    Been suffering with this problem since 2001, with the symptoms progressively getting worse over the years an just a few days of relief in that time, which i could never figure-out how the pain would ease or get worse. I wondered if it was down to how i slept, or over-training, a trapped nerve or if my muscles were just tight and needed a stretch (but after watching this vid, i realise now i was doing all the stretches that were making the conditon worse!). After just an hour of gentle intermittent shoulder blade squeezes, i'm already feeling relief from the pain. Thank-you for sharing this knowledge! Very grateful!!!

      +nathan jones My neuropathy came from a work accident back in September of 2012. :( The 15th of this month will be 3 years I've been living with it and it is VERY uncomfortable! It has weakened the muscles in both arms and has made me more tired than ever, but i'm still going, not letting this disease stop me! I might try that medicine soon called Nerve Fix. There's another one called NerveRenew, but i'm trying Nerve Fix first to see what it does, if I can tell if it helps me or not. 60 tablets per bottle, so it's worth it definitely, if it works! I'm keeping my fingers crossed it works!

      The tight pecs minor and scalenes causes an impingement of the median nerve and artery going under the clavicle (collar bone). The artery impingement cause lack of nutrients and oxygen so the body can't sustain repetitive motion. You can reverse it you doing exercises to stretch scalenes and pecs minor. keep searching on you tube for these.

    He's perfectly correct :) - pectoralis minor originates from ribs 3-5 and inserts into the coracoid process of the shoulder blade - it's a deeper and smaller muscle (than pec major). Tightness in pec minor is often involved in neck/shoulder/arm problems, and in poor posture.
    You can do a search for a good image of pec minor to better understand where it is ;)

    I feel better but i now have a sore bruising pain in my chest. Ive noticed it radiates to my funny bone. Could this be a pinched nerve.
    Not sure if i should go get checked out.
    My bro in law went in and was diagnosed with pneumonia. But like i said i feel better no coughing or phlegm. Just a sore left side of my chest and tingling down my left arm.

    Nice exercises but im a bit confused about the treatment being bad for the nerve bc its stretching but good bc its opening things up. U say these exercises will increase pain and therefore don't do them. Did I hear that right? I do feel that stretching my neck on the right side makes it hurt more but I feel like I need to do something to release the pain. I will try some exercises you showed and see what happens

      use that arm less and less so it can get rested. especially dont play any games not even video games. no heavy lifting either. the mind is faster than the body and her arm cannot keep up with the speed of the mind.
      check to see if one shoulder is lower and the other higher; if so then its posture related ie legs and feet.
      i hope she is already doing well since its been a while with your post

      For some reason TH-cam is removing my post. I’ll repost it here.
      “NERVE GLIDE”: remember this too
      I dealt with TOS for a year mostly because of wait times to see doctors and no one able to figure it out. The severe nerve pain only really started when I laid down to sleep and went from what felt like behind the shoulder blades to the elbows and then to the hands and fingers. Felt like balls of fire behind the shoulder blades and my hands would feel dead. 2 fingers would seemingly feel like the dislocated in my left hand and I would have to make fists repeatedly to get them to go back into place. I could only sleep for about 30-45 minutes at a time and would have to sit up for an hour at least for the numbness and pain to go away. During the day my right elbow hurt fairly significantly along with the top forearm muscles in that arm but I thought I aggravated an old injury. The muscles of my whole upper right quadrant of my body atrophied(back and front). It was getting scary seeing it in the mirror.
      On to how I was fixed:
      My regular PT went on vacation and while I was explaining my issues to the fill-in PT and doing the exercises I normally do she mentioned thoracic outlet syndrome and it’s symptoms. She explained that our nerves don’t stretch so we need proper nerve glide. Towards the end of the session she said she wanted to try something.
      I laid down on a bench and she sat next to me having me rest my right arm in her lap. She would bend my arm from the elbow up and down gently while she felt around for tender spots from the right side of the neck area to the front of my shoulder where it was pointed out in this video. As soon as she touched that muscle they talked about on the front shoulder, I flenched. She began to gently massage that muscle as she continued to bend my arm from the elbow up and down as it lay in her lap. After the session, almost immediately I felt something was different even though I had no nerve pain or numbness during that time. That night my grip strength increased and I was able to sleep. I called to thank her the next morning. I’ve never felt such gratitude for someone as I did her. That one session literally healed me. The strength in my arms started coming back, there was no more nerve pain and numbness, and I haven’t had pain in my elbows for over 3 years now. I dealt with pain in my elbows for many many years from what I thought stemmed from an injury as a teenager.
      I say all this just in case it could help at least one person. That year was a nightmare of pain and it was fixed so simply in 1 single session with a knowledgeable PT.

      @@charlesp7504 did you get pain along your collarbone too?

    • @charlesp7504
      @charlesp7504 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justinroper4220 I don’t recall pain in my collar bone specifically. My right shoulder has a tear in it somewhere from an injury about 15 years prior which is likely the culprit for everything being out of whack. I’m not sure. It’s soreness at times could have seemed like collar bone pain too the way that it could feel. But like I mentioned, not specifically during that year.

    is that really how to stretch the scalene? the scalenes are a cervical flexor, ipsilateral sidebender and contralateral rotator! wouldnt it be better to depress the first rib(ant and mid scalene) and then put the head in the opposite positions? i feel like you were stretching the upper trap.

    • @markmayfield23
      @markmayfield23 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      i disagree on the pec minor stretch too. the pec minor pulls on the corocoid process of the scapula. if you dont at least put the arm out to the side level with the shoulder you are still in downward orientated position of the scapula. you should put the hand of the side that needs stretching on to your head, then using a wall or doorway put a stretch on the pec minor.
