I am a massage therapist. I always tell my clients to do strengthen exercises as well as stretching. Weak muscles become tight. Weak muscles develop adhensions. Weak muscles make the other muscles compromise and it is a chain reaction to other muscles going out of wack. For example, weak Gluteus medius can cause plantar fascia pain due to the calcaneus being overy everted when you walk or run. The old term: Plantar fasciitis. If I have time, I tell them to seek a doctor, but look up the benefits of: Magnesium, Calcium, B6, B9, B12, E and C. Whole concentrate. Your green vegetables and avocado, nuts. They help with oxygen efficiency in the body which helps them with their muscles. But of course, I tell them seek a professional that can help them first, because they may have some complications due to their health. Nice informative video.

This video has been life changing! I’ve dealt with tension knots since my daughter was born in 2005. I’ve seen massage therapists, PT’s, and a chiropractor weekly. The knots were sending tension up my neck and into the base of my skull. The exercises provided immediate relief and I’ve continued to do them regularly for a week or so. Just wanted to say thank you for your videos and willingness to share with everyone!!

Also pay attention to how you're sitting while you use your phone. I didnt realise how badly I was pressuring some of my vertebrae until a few weeks ago when I stopped to pay attention to it. Cause if your head is tilted past like 20° from normal it puts something ridiculous like 75lbs of extra compression force on your spine and I was holding my head like that for hours...

Physiotherapist are like gold dust here and restrictions in place make appointments even harder. I was thinking I had something life changing and was going to end up having to give up my training. Please, please listen to this, I had most of my adult life neck tension and horrible -tension- headaches. With lots of yoga and pain killers I started to feel better, but since last week I started again to feel my neck so tense that I couldn't turn my head -in any direction-
I did this morning Dr. Beckstrand exercises and I improvised a rod similar to the video plus putting hot towels on my neck . . . O.M.G.
I can now rotate my neck in every direction with no pain at all. THANK YOU so very much for teaching us that there is hope, when nothing. . . nothing!! worked before for many years. My thanks and appreciation to you. 6/6/2022

Excellent neck stretching and strengthening exercises. Been in a lot of discomfort for 3 weeks. My doc gave me two of the stretching exercises that you gave but you give additional ones that target other neck supporting and pain relieving stretches. THANK YOU!

Wonderful, Marie! Oftentimes that can indicate pressure in a joint space which, when released, can cause much relief. I'm glad you found this video and thanks for your kind comment!

We used to call these knots “ trigger points “. Treatment was a combination of just what you are saying, stretch, warm, cold and fairly aggressive finger massage directly into the trigger points and work on improving posture….started using these modalities about 1980…

I have a lump on my trigger point next to my neck, it's super sore when I try to massage it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I broke my shoulder skiing almost 5 years ago. I went to PT for months after my surgery. Everything was addressed except my scapular area. To this day it is in a knot. I have started to do these stretching exercises, which pull the scapular area as well, and I am hoping and praying to get relief soon. I also have a frozen shoulder that came after the surgery. I have a foam roller that I have had for way too long. Probably should get a new one, but if it isn't broke...

I can tell you how grateful i am for this! Thank you so very much! I wake up with a horrible pain in my shoulder , it hurt me even when i take too much deep breath ! I search on youtube, i looked over 6 or 7 videos and find yours, this one and an other! It was hard doing the exercices bc of the pain, but little by little it was making my pain go away and now i can take deep breath ! Especially the shoulder retraction and the double chin lol! So im sending you many many thanks all the way from switzerland 🙏👍
