Samuel, there's something authentic about you and how you make your tutorials/videos. Thanks so much for this one because I waited patiently for this note-taking video!
Wow, you had a great teacher - and by his model, you became one. Clear, simple, beautiful and engaging, you captured information, broke it into patterns, so that we could see the patterns to capture information. Which is analog to the storing and consumption of sunlight - supporting your earlier note, that learning is like digestion. You blow me away, Samuel. Many thanks! 🙏🏻
I have PhD in Zoology. I have studied photosynthesis/respiration since 10th class. Only now through your video, I learnt how all this makes sense and how it should be taught.
Dude. I feel like you and I are friends who just sat down for coffee and had an authentic real conversation that made me walk away thinking about science, the way I communicate, and how I want everyone to understand the bigger picture. Great stuff!
Now I get it why you aren't releasing/selling your notes despite high demand. Because that was never the point. You discovered the process and believed in its capability to transform learning. That's why you shared that story with us. Focusing just on that one subject note will again force everyone into focusing on the end products rather than learning the process themselves. Thank you so much such amazing videos! ♥
The more I kept watching the video, the more my eyes were getting wide open with realisation. This was just great. It's been years since I've actually realised and learnt something from TH-cam video and that too in such a beautiful way!
Definetly you should teach people. You have an innate gift!!! 90% of my teachers should learn from each single video you've posted in youtube. Peace and love from Spain!
Honestly, I started writing notes like this for about 30 days now and it's a game-changer! I felt so stupid for the past years mindlessly highlighting and writing the lectures in front of me. But, now I started doing mindmaps and actually ask myself the questions about why and how it relates to the bigger picture. You learn faster, it sticks in your brain and makes it more interactive!
This one video has literally changed the way I approach my Nursing Degree. I am now going to re go over my notes to make sure I understand it on all levels, not just the bits of information I need to know. I think you should consider a TH-cam channel teaching Biology / physiology. The way you explained photosynthesis and cellular respiration was amazing, and I understood how they relate together.
This is SO true! I am always looking for the bigger picture but the professors don’t always do the best job to tell you the context of the details you’re learning. It’s really frustrating! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Samuel!!!!
If your professor is not giving you the big picture, ask for it, learning at a university level should be a two-way process. I will put the proviso in that there are some lecturers/professors that will look at you blankly and go back to listing chemicals or articles of law. In that case go to the library, just find the dummies guide to your subject matter, I don't mean the brand of books just the simplest version you can find and dive in. I have never stopped learning, and hopefully I never will but that's polymaths for you.
Must say, everytime i come over a point when i'm stuck i just come up watch this video of yours and boom! I find the way to my answer, i understand where to head to get the answer. I get some absolutely new thought each time! Great work!
Samuel, something about you is different, you just feel WAY better that any person i watch on yt (for note taking stuff), and honestly in my opinion, you are THE best youtuber to ever help me mentally, as in the way i think and the way i go forward in life. tbh i dont even know what im saying im so speechless ong, im just grateful
Beautiful notes but also a great video in so many other ways. It's so great the way you have one concept per page and break down each element. This is such a better way to learn as opposed to just text and bullet points. I remember when I was in school, I would take notes and then never look at them again. But, with these kind of notes, I would definitely come back to them over and over again. Bonus is that I learned about photosynthesis. You're a very good teacher!
This video summarizes about me who learns every single details, make connections and stories to store it in my long term memory. I couldn't learn anything new if I didn't fully understand the old materials. I just keep building blocks of knowledge on top of the things that I've learned. My perfectionist mindset of wanting to know everything takes so much time and effort but it really pays off at the end. I could relate to you so much and thank you for your top notch quality videos.
I was looking for info related to mortgage and Real Estate, but checked your video out, and literally could not stop watching. You’re an amazing story teller - bravo! ( and I learned a thing or two…. :). Thanks!
Because of you and Kharma Medic I have decided to save for an iPad for school. Hopefully I got that until the end of the summer so I can start my final year with it. Great Work
I actually have this same subject in biology And I never really understood it But after seeing how you explained it It just sparked a light of curiosity inside me 💡 Thanks
I've been missing such videos of yours, Samuel! I just LOVED this one! I love the way you explain those subjects: "breaking down" into small pieces of information that are known by everybody and turning into a "big picture" so easy that anyone can learn! Thanks again for this marvelous concept explanation!
I am not a big picture kind of person. Tried for so long to understand my colleagues and employers who were explaining it to me but never truly understood. I would just observe the behaviour and replicate but I’m going to try making this process for what I do at work. Thank you so much for this video and wish me luck!
It is said a good teacher is one who makes the student want to learn (curiosity) and the bad ones are the ones that just tell you what will be on the test. You have a great teacher, yet what this video has shown is the student has now become the master. I let my daughter (only 6) watch your videos because I want her to know how to learn whilst she has started her educational journey. Right now though she is tracing over a cartoon snow leopard after I taught her your technique for taking visual notes. I thank you so much Samuel.
Bro, I'm in social work... nothing to do with medicine... I am blown away by this on so many levels!!! I feel like that after every one of your videos lol! Your content is simply amazing!! You are a gifted storyteller.
By the way, Sam, have you ever thought of creating a TH-cam channel in which you would use those awesome notes of yours and teach subjects on biology for students and interested people? It would be a MUST to watch it!
I just cried from all the potentials of learning this just opened up for me. Not only that, but that understanding you just shared about photosynthesis and cellular respiration just clicked so many things into place for me. holy crap. this is so much more than an ipad video x 100! I want you to know the impact of what you've created here.
Not gonna lie you really do have a talent. I studied this topic already but watching you really made me understand the concept of glycolysis better. Just wow so good at explaining things in a simple but effective way.
I love the way that in every single video he explains to us the whole point as a story and in end teaches us big morals, literally, I learned morals in every single video
Literally the first things we learnt in chemistry/biology is what different prefixes and suffixes like "lysis" or "synthesis" mean. Saves a lot of time trying to explaining every single word. Especially important with molecules and structures. What I've noticed, is that a lot of people try to understand the topics from the wrong end of the story. Unless you have a basic understanding of the bigger picture or the reason why you want to understand a detail, there's no need for even trying to understand the detail.
It feels weird now to think back of the time when I figured it all out by myself. The technique of connecting the dots. The phase when I was just asking questions and questions. That is how I came to know that biology (at least) is mostly about etymology ; it's a game of words. And also if I think of every subject as a historical event, it somehow makes a lot of sense and is seemingly enjoyable. And this venture of mine is still going on... At the end, what we are searching for is just a way to be the best of ourselves, but it would be better to know that there is no best. We just keep evolving every second as we move forward in life. Just an opinion ✌🏻
OMG!!! , I am a fifth-level medical student, and for the first time I understand glycolsis in this way. Thank you for this wonderful video.. I already subscribed to your channel.💛💛💛
What you really learned in your 30 minutes was that teachers CAN teach given the right amount of concentrated time with a student that has a desire to learn.
"As I learn more, the more I learn " - true that. Amazing how you break down a complex topic into bits of understandable snippets. Thanks Sam. Btw Love your handwriting on the iPad. :)
Finally you've written "I'll see you NEXT WEEK" and not "ON THE NEXT VIDEO", 'cause we never knew when this next video would be released. But now I'm glad that I will watch a new video someday soon. 😊😁
That was the clearest explanation on, not the glycolysis, learning I have in a long time. Nice job! You should definitely look into teaching - you have the ability to catch the attention of all who listen.
I REALLY liked that. It actually gave me an understanding of something I've been doing instinctively. That understanding helps me leverage a process in a repeatable way.
Hey Samuel I am not a biology student 👨🎓 but still the way you explained this concept I will not forget anytime soon. Okay the key takeways for me 1. How to use good notes 📝 2. Better mind mapping through the Big Picture 3. We all need teachers like you to be better Proffessionals Love ❤️
Hit very close to home hahah...Med student who hadnt taken bio in highschool stuck on glycolysis a week before exams here! SO so grateful for your words & wisdom Sam! I would love med tutorials from you!
Samuel I recently started thinking that the chance of success is studying, now I’m currently trying to use your tecnics and you are helpinf me a lot in this process, thinks for making your vídeos and never stop teaching people.
This is such an incredible way to learn. Now i know a bit of biochemistry and how it works. I think this what real learning is all about. Understanding the fundamentals in a way which can be useful. Knowing all this terminology might get one clear the exam but it won’t take them far. Thank you for sharing this video. Ipad is just a tool but indeed the right one. Doesn’t matter which one.
Thank you for this awesome video. It really did shed light on how to take efficient and story-telling notes taking approach......on a whole new level! Thank you!
You made me buy an iPad Pro 2018 11 inch version and I love it! it was best purchase I made better than my gaming pc which is *4 times more expensive than my iPad and although I love my beast pc I still think that iPad was the best buy on the basis of productivity and feel good factor when you hold that slim device in your hand ohhh the joy that brings to me! Thank you so much Suresh! Edit: why I feel the joy feeling this slim device is knowing that all my study related material is all in one place safe because of iCloud and knowing that I can also edit that write over it, highlight it and erase it on that same device! That idea makes me so happy! In short “portability and slim design” is dope!
Hi Samuel, I really enjoy ur videos, however I would appreciate tips for other subjects such as Geogrphy, Maths, Physics etc.. to also make visual notes for these subjects. Thank you for your videos!

Thanks for posting on a Monday morning (living on est time lol). Ive been struggling with sitting down and studying lately so Im glad Im starting my week off with some encouraging videos
Thank you for this. I felt like I was there watching the exchange between you and your instructor, and what a moment that was for both of you. I also found the concepts fascinating. Hey Sam! Feels like it's been long since i saw u last time , i do pg preparation , actually whatever you said strikes me , you now make me want to see the bigger picture , pg preparation is ful of loads&loads of facts and remembering them , but its hard , thank you for giving a nudge in a different direction, your vedios as usual they are awesome totally full of contents , perfect editing , perfect content delivery , see you more in forthcoming vedios❤️ hope you are shining in med school

This guy is the best content creator on youtube!
You have really great teachers and becoming one yourself! Very inspiring+helpful video 😊
LOVING the Ben Rector outros! Awesome job. Can’t wait to watch what else you have in store
love this, and it's so cool that this opens up the door to be very resourceful. thank you 🙏
Love your video’s and they are really inspiring. One question: Could you do a video about note taking what is relevant to office work (with the Apple iPad Pro)?
Hi Samuel,
I'm in gradschool at WASHU for Microbiology and I am really enjoying all your videos :) BIG PICTURE is absolutely the most essential lesson to take into higher education! and I'm so glad you are sharing it!
:)
As a beginner teacher, this is very interesting. I have to convey this in the lessons I'll be making now...
Happy to have you Sir!
Much Love from ZIMBABWE
I am watching him during my finals week to feel motivated and to continue to drive to my big picture😊
What a fantastic teacher you are, Samuel
10:26 when you look away from the whiteboard for 0.2 seconds 😂. In all seriousness but this was an incredible video. Not what I thought I was going to learn about, but I’m so glad I did and I enjoyed every second! Amazing 😍
That is a damn good teacher you had there, Samuel. I'd have loved this video 18 years ago before sitting for my Biology O Levels.
Brilliant and inspiring, as always! As much as I love watching your videos, and as much as I missed them over this recent “break” … I was actually happy you were taking time for yourself. Going through college (as we say in the USA) or “University” as you refer isn’t easy and is VERY time consuming. It’s also very evident that you are extremely gifted at encouraging others. And for that we are ALL grateful! Wishing you much success and happiness in the future! (I also love sharing your videos with my youngest daughter … who is in her third year of “University” 😀). And I, a consulting engineer, also continue to be inspired by you … that learning never has to stop. Keep up the great work Samuel!
Thank you for putting a smile on my face Samuel Bhai. Luv you.
Wow, it's like he is teaching your brain and your soul at the same time, why can't online classes be like this?
I love the production.. even though i knew all of these watching this 3rd time just to breakdown the editing....!!!
I’ve literally been stressing because of a test coming up next week you really just helped me
Samuel, you make me want to go back to school. Amazing and inspiring videos dude.
Thank you for this. You put into action what I've been trying to communicate to my students.
Thanks for posting on a Monday morning (living on est time lol). Ive been struggling with sitting down and studying lately so Im glad Im starting my week off with some encouraging videos
great video samuel , again :)
thanks for sharing , it really helps me go through this whole school process .
Wow. This was an amazing story. My life will be forever changed
Thank you
This guy deserves views in millions ❤
I 1000000% agreed with you!
This is one of the reasons I enjoyed studying biochemistry😍
You're incredibly smart and inspirational. Keep it up!
You managed to make science actaully interesting for me, come for the ipad tips stay for the amazing science and art
Thank you for this. I felt like I was there watching the exchange between you and your instructor, and what a moment that was for both of you. I also found the concepts fascinating.
More importantly, I will use this approach when working with others to achieve sobriety, showing them both the forest and the trees.
Hi. This is a great content. Why wasn't you here when I was in Uni? I already asked my daughter to view your videos as her guide to have a clarity what learning should be. Thank you. You have a new sub here. Love from Malaysia.
I'm so thankful that you're back.
This is literally what I just had to study for my AP Biology test coming up and it was so helpful
this is what was missing in teaching . jeez the power of pictoral teaching and note taking is immense
wow... what an amazing professor. Not many of them are like this one.
I LOVE THIS ANIMATION/ EXPLANATION.
How did you make that drawing overlay video? Where you can continue to just zoom in? Looked really cool!
The most important lesson I ever learned at University is how to see the first principles of any subject or reaction. When I teach today's students I find they do exactly what you did, get lost in the final details without stepping back.
If you get the hang of using first principles you can use this technique in any subject, law, science, language. You will find yourself looking at any problem as solvable.
Hey Sam!
