Interesting point! But here’s why Overlord can still count as reincarnation, even though it’s not the traditional type we see in Re:Zero. Reincarnation generally means being reborn into a new life or existence, often with a fresh identity or perspective. While Ainz doesn’t physically die and come back, he is ‘reborn’ in a different reality, permanently transformed as his character, Momonga, in a new world with all its rules and challenges. His old life as a human is gone, so he’s essentially living a ‘new life’ with a different identity and purpose. So, it’s reincarnation in a broader sense-a shift into a new existence with no way back!
Re;Zero Subaru is more like Transmigration which is being transported to another world than Reincarnation, which requires rebirth like in Mushoku Tensei.
I wouldn’t want be like Ainz that guy literally trapped in his avatar which is an undead litch he can eat, sleep and losing his humanity with all that power is not worth it and sounds pretty lame.
My 3 favourite isekais mentioned in a single title, hoooolyyy shit
To be honest Ascendance of a Bookworm deserves spot there as well.
Wait,Overlord? With ReZero I would get reincarnation but Ainz was more locked to the body of the ingame character he created after the shutdown
