    Best ancient theme in the game IMO.
    On Mao's legacy, I'll be interested in seeing how people view him once it's been a century since his rule.

    Other Civ2 songs made it in as diplomacy themes too - one of my favorites is "Augustus Rises", which got in as (logically enough) the Roman theme. "Hammurabi's Code" is the Persian theme for some reason.

    @ZuluCatsTheMispeller For no reason you assume that it was solely Mao Zedong who brought the "backwards" China into a "modern" state and not perhaps the European trade ports before that which started Westernization? Or maybe that the previous government under the KMT had any effect whatsoever, bringing military techniques from Germany and Russia, while still preserving Chinese culture rather than attempting to obliterate all aspects of it? How weak do you think China was under Qing or the KMT?

    @revolutionary1948 I'm Chinese and Mao was a terrible leader. He was a great guerrilla fighter and revolutionary who overthrew the corrupted Nationalist party. But he's a terrible ruler who caused many deaths through starvation, not to mention that he was corrupted by power and eventually became a dictator.

    You all fail to remember that China is the biggest industrial power in the world today. That was Mao. China was a backwater before him. Considering the population of China, many would say it was "totally worth it"

    I just wanted to say that. The Chinese have to know, we the western world are told he was bad etc, we know little of him, we are told many died under his rule, dispite this the people of China love him. So we better keep silent.
    But I do critise him for destroying old traditional stuff. However they say this helped in modernising China.

    Ill start off by saying I respect your civility. I am however not intentionally try to cast a more positive light on Mao, I do it almost subconsciously. If you want to avoid reading you can check out MaoistRebelNews2 on youtube. He has a good bit of videos on the famine. That is if you can stand him, I like him, some don't. As for learning about Mao's policies and some history, the first one that comes to mind is The Battle for China's Past: Mao and the Cultural Revolution which is really good.
