correction: this is not Ottoman "war music", after the abolishment of Janissaries in 1826 (known as "the Auspicous Event" or in Turkish "Vaka-i Hayriye") everything pertaining to Janissary organization were also brutally cast down alongside world's first military band "Mehteran". Mehteran's music sheets were also destroyed in the process. today what is called "Hücum Marşı" is the only composition that has survived the event, and the rest are composed during the Republic Era.
they have become unruly and difficult to control. they might have had good reasons to riot in the beginning, such as ineffective leadership, but I'm not a historian I can't speculate. over the years they began rioting for the smallest things, started influencing which prince was to become the next Sultan, waylaid Sultans on their way to Palace after ascension ceremony to rip off some more money, even taking it too far to kill Sultans they didn't liked (like Osman II who wanted to introduce reforms to the Order waaaaaaay before Mahmud II finally abolished it).
there was no one left to revolt actually, all the remaining military branches sided with Sultan Mahmud II so it was the whole army against the Janissaries. and they were very thorough. they have besieged and bombarded Janissary barracks for days, killing thousands and arresting even more. the public anger was so terrible against these rowdy bunch that the people even have destroyed Janissary tombstones. as far as I know there are only 2 tombstones, belonging to Janissaries, left in İstanbul. what's more interesting is that the majority of Janissaries were members of a certain religious fraternity and even they got their share of the public anger and in the end had to change their names as a sign of severing all ties with the past.
this name change I mentioned was done by a religious fraternity (i.e. a sufi school of dervishes), not by a body of the army (the whole army got modernized and a renamed after that event). such fraternities were the backbone of the society actually. there was such a fraternity for nearly every artisan group, so people were not only learning a profession, but got to train themselves on a spiritual level as well. as for the army, Janissaries were not the only group, for example Archers had such a fraternity too, they got trained in the art of warfare as archers but also got a spiritual training alongside it. as for surviving and changing names on a personal level i don't know; as far as i can tell (based on folklore, so don't quote me on this), against all that aggression, still some Janissaries survived (some were just arrested, remember) and even passed among the populace as "ex-janissaries", but I wouldn't know if they kept or changed their names. nearly every neighborhood in Istanbul, which is old enough to trace its foundation back to the Ottoman time, has a story about a lone ruffian type who policed over the neighborhood and kept troublemakers in check and protected the weak among the folk. many such "ruffians" were ex-Janissary as for surviving as a regiment, well I think its only logical to allow some of the arrestees back into the army, after all these were highly trained personnel. if there were grounds to forgive a couple hundred, or a couple thousand, why not do so? but I'm truly stretching the limits of speculation here.
@Google Hesap Only the first two members of the House of Osman were actually of "Turkic" origin, the following sultans were Hellenized and Slavicized, the mother of Murat I, (3rd Ottoman sultan) Nilüfer Hatun, was an Orthodox Byzantine Greek. Other famous include the notorious Hürrem Sultan, a Ruthenian Orthadox named Alexandria; and Kösem, a Greek born in Venetian territory. So it would be wrong to say that the ruling class in Ottoman Turkey were "Turks", but the ruled common folk were certainly Turks.

Osmanlı son yüzyılında şartlar nedeniyle güçsüz düşse de başlangıcından sonuna ne olursa olsun büyük bir devletti. Şovenist olmadan ama küçümsemeden tarihe bakınca saygı duymamak elde değil.

Suleiman the Magnificent's answer to France, who asked for help from the Ottomans: "I am sending you a few Janissary outfits. Dress your soldiers and keep watch."
There's something about the melody of the original Ceddin Deden that makes it sound splendid and harmonious. Compositions like this one only serve to make that even more apparent. I don't even like the Civ series, but I certainly like this theme a lot. The peace version is welcoming, yet glorious, while the war version is menacing, yet also glorious. Both versions are fitting not just for your relations with them, but also for the purpose of highlighting the sheer power (culturally, administratively, diplomatically and especially militarily) of the Ottoman Empire, and that, to me, is everything you want out of a musical composition. This wouldn't be out of place in any game that featured the Ottomans at their peak.
Suleiman the Magnificent Creators of civilization have a great knowledge of history. They depict Suleiman flawlessly. Ambasaddors of other empires had to kneel before the emperor of Ottomans. The way Suleiman watches from superior position shows us the ambasaddor or representer of empire we sent to Ottomans is bent the knee before the Suleiman. Also Suleiman was a writer and poet. He had a great relationship with the books. They didnt miss that detail, Suleiman holds a book everytime on his hand.
Suleiman the Magnificent conquered most of the Hungarian empire in just 2 hours and opened the doors of Europe. He was a very majestic, intelligent and respectable man. Everyone should learn about his methods and thoughts.

correction: this is not Ottoman "war music", after the abolishment of Janissaries in 1826 (known as "the Auspicous Event" or in Turkish "Vaka-i Hayriye") everything pertaining to Janissary organization were also brutally cast down alongside world's first military band "Mehteran". Mehteran's music sheets were also destroyed in the process. today what is called "Hücum Marşı" is the only composition that has survived the event, and the rest are composed during the Republic Era.
yes that's "Ceddin Deden", it was written and composed in 1917 way after the abolition of Janissary Order and the "Mehteran"
they have become unruly and difficult to control. they might have had good reasons to riot in the beginning, such as ineffective leadership, but I'm not a historian I can't speculate. over the years they began rioting for the smallest things, started influencing which prince was to become the next Sultan, waylaid Sultans on their way to Palace after ascension ceremony to rip off some more money, even taking it too far to kill Sultans they didn't liked (like Osman II who wanted to introduce reforms to the Order waaaaaaay before Mahmud II finally abolished it).
there was no one left to revolt actually, all the remaining military branches sided with Sultan Mahmud II so it was the whole army against the Janissaries. and they were very thorough. they have besieged and bombarded Janissary barracks for days, killing thousands and arresting even more. the public anger was so terrible against these rowdy bunch that the people even have destroyed Janissary tombstones. as far as I know there are only 2 tombstones, belonging to Janissaries, left in İstanbul. what's more interesting is that the majority of Janissaries were members of a certain religious fraternity and even they got their share of the public anger and in the end had to change their names as a sign of severing all ties with the past.
this name change I mentioned was done by a religious fraternity (i.e. a sufi school of dervishes), not by a body of the army (the whole army got modernized and a renamed after that event). such fraternities were the backbone of the society actually. there was such a fraternity for nearly every artisan group, so people were not only learning a profession, but got to train themselves on a spiritual level as well. as for the army, Janissaries were not the only group, for example Archers had such a fraternity too, they got trained in the art of warfare as archers but also got a spiritual training alongside it.
as for surviving and changing names on a personal level i don't know; as far as i can tell (based on folklore, so don't quote me on this), against all that aggression, still some Janissaries survived (some were just arrested, remember) and even passed among the populace as "ex-janissaries", but I wouldn't know if they kept or changed their names. nearly every neighborhood in Istanbul, which is old enough to trace its foundation back to the Ottoman time, has a story about a lone ruffian type who policed over the neighborhood and kept troublemakers in check and protected the weak among the folk. many such "ruffians" were ex-Janissary
as for surviving as a regiment, well I think its only logical to allow some of the arrestees back into the army, after all these were highly trained personnel. if there were grounds to forgive a couple hundred, or a couple thousand, why not do so? but I'm truly stretching the limits of speculation here.
Think a song that gives fear to enemy also gives peace to entire world
True
Not really.
@@roader4986 huh?

A wise man once said "the worst thing you can do in your whole lifetime is to declare war against the Mighty Ottomans"
The Ottomans have been getting their ass kicked by Europeans since the 1400’s
Osmanlı son yüzyılında şartlar nedeniyle güçsüz düşse de başlangıcından sonuna ne olursa olsun büyük bir devletti. Şovenist olmadan ama küçümsemeden tarihe bakınca saygı duymamak elde değil.

I totally agree with you. Ceddin Deden has such a unique tone that you can make it both an epic music and a dramatic music.
Beautifully put !
Such an underrrated comment.
Suleiman the Magnificent
Creators of civilization have a great knowledge of history.
That book is Qur'an. Check the cover. It probably refers to the Ottomans' laws and religion.
