    Garrett, sent me enough stuff to last me a lifetime, and a handwritten note, that was super cool 😎!.

    Always use a magnetic stir bar and electric mixer. Don’t swirl to mix. I get contam on the filter disc when I’ve swirled to mix. I’m changing all my LCs to 1/2 pint jars and I’ve always used 14g 3” long needles. I wish I could get 6” long sterile needles but haven’t been able to find any.
    When I apply the SHIPs I always turn the lid upside down to make sure it’s centered.

      Swirling works fine as long as you're careful and don't splash your filter. I've been doing it 20 years with no contamination issues. That being said, magnetic stirrers are very cool and a nice accessory. I often recommend them to people but have never bought one myself.

    Thanks again for the amazing content man! A little trick I learned years ago when drilling plastic is to put the drill in reverse to prevent cracking.

      Thanks for the tip, never tried that but it makes sense. You're burning through it more than you're drilling through it. Good sharp drill bit and gentle pressure works for me 99%.

    Hell yea, we dont see much of this type of content, nice!. My lids are green, and there are 2 grey rubber injection ports on them, with a ptfe 0.22um red plastic thing, I don't really know what is is really, but I had to but custom small brown Mason jars, to fit in my pressure cooker!.

    I have an appreciation for the grips on these lids. Theyre more than I would want to spend on them, as the ones I currently use are only $10 for 18qty. They (the ones I use) have the silicone seal and groove to house them as well. But, these look like they would be easier to open. I do prefer the pop-in SHIPS too, Ive tried these sticker ones, and theyre ok, but I find the rubber ones better for my likings, because they are larger and I can stab them anywhere without stabbing my needle into the lid. I dry fit them as well, they do not need RTV.
    This is a good tutorial, I appreciate the time and effort you put into your walk-thru. Im sure it is going to help many people.
    Good job, and Happy Cultivating!

    I see most people using regular mouth jars. Are wide mouth ok - seems like it would be easier to remove spawn. Any advantage to using regular mouth jars?

      Either one works fine. Personal preference mostly.

    I have fallowed your recipe of 1.8 lbs of wood pellets to 2 lbs of hot water and to let it cool overnight to add some wine cap spawn to it however when I did I have the feeling that it was too dry if I remember correctly that it should be or have enough moisture in it that if you squeeze a handful of it you should just barely get some water out of it and it was dryer than that the question now is how can or should I add some distilled water to it, could I inject some water to it or just leave it alone and see how it turns out???

    • @RenegadeMushrooms
      @RenegadeMushrooms  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You're a little off on your calculations. My recipe is: dry fuel pellet weight x 1.375 = boiling water weight. So for that amount of fuel pellets you should have used 2.5 lbs. of water. You can try adding .5 lbs. of distilled water and shaking it up.

      Yeah I've seen those green pre-fabd lids. Never used them myself, but I've never been a fan of the rubber self-healing injection ports. The one's I've tried, the rubber isn't very thick and they swiss cheese quick.
