Nvidia aren’t exactly swimming in cash though as they aren’t selling in large numbers and most products they sell at msrp.. they weren’t the ones profiteering off the supply deficit it is retailers and other scalpers.
the numbers they are shipping are pathetic which isn’t exactly their fault as other manufacturers are also struggling to put out products.
If it was just a nvidia problem the solution would be to buy amd as their cards are probably just as good at the moment but they don’t have any product at market either..
The 3080ti is overpriced though and if I could get a card at msrp it would be the 3080 or 6900 but since I can’t I will stick with my 1080ti.

Nvidia has been slapping customers in the face for over a decade, people have been taking it and allowing for such a behaviour, it will only get worse. @@HotdogNoire IIRC, only the 3090 has really major VRAM temp issues because the GDDR6X modules are on both sides of the PCB, and the backplate isn't good enough to cool the rear side modules. But ya, the FE cooler isn't great for VRAM compared to pretty much all the AIB cards.

The market determines the price but they could be manipulating supply. What gets me is why people aren't questioning these shortage claims instead of just chalking it up to miners. They are lying about shortages on other products so what would stop them from doing the same with gpu's & microchips? If you owned Nvidia & knew people were gonna be forced to stay home in front of there computers wouldn't you increase production? I know for a fact in America 70-80% of company's were deemed essential & most people didn't miss much work at all.

See the thing about the 3080 Ti is this: yes I get it, it's very expensive and you can call me a fool for buying the TUF Gaming OC version of it. However, it really shouldn't be compared to a regular 3080. It is about 10% faster than a 3080 on average for 70% more money. That is a stupidly, hilariously horrible deal, yes. However, it starts to make more sense when you compare it to the 3090. At best, it's 2% slower than the 3090, yet it is 20% cheaper and has half the VRAM. The 3090 is good for gaming, but it's designed for so much more.
If all you do is gaming, and you want the best gaming performance and can afford it, by all means you should sacrifice that UNNOTICABLE 2% performance from the 3090 and step down to a 3080 Ti. However, if you also do creative stuff like video editing, encoding, blender, 3D Modelling etc. then the 3090 is the card for you. Do not get a 3090 if all you do is gaming as it is a total waste of money and it's 20% more expensive than the 3080 Ti which, again, is only 2% slower.
So do you really want to pay 20% more for 2% gain? I didn't think so. The 3090 does much, much better in these 3D modelling, video editing etc applications than the 3080 Ti. So, instead of comparing the 3080 Ti to the 3080, compare it to the 3090 and it makes a bit more sense. Of course, most people will buy the vastly more affordable 3070, as even the 3080 is pretty crazy expensive compared to the 3070. I do not support Nvidia with its price gouging, by the way, I'm just giving my 2 cents, and it can't be said that I'm totally wrong.
TL;DR: RTX 3080, 3080 Ti and 3090 are all stupidly expensive. The 3080 has the power to SOMEWHAT justify its price, while the 3090 is excellent for those who do more than just gaming. So instead of comparing the 3080 Ti to the 3080, compare it to the 3090 which is 2% better and 20% more expensive. For the best gaming results IF YOU CAN AFFORD, get a 3080 Ti instead of a 3090 if all you do is gaming, as you're spending 20% LESS for basically the same performance. Again, I do not support what Nvidia is doing to us, this is pretty much robbery.

Depends on who you are, just because you have no need for one doesn't mean someone else can't use it. I'm sure it's a good card for gaming and someone could use it. Just because a tech reviewer from GN says something "is a waste of sand" doesn't mean jack shit. I still bought a 3090 for gaming myself. I guess this thing's value depends on how you look at it. If you consider it a slightly cut down 3090 with less vram for $300 less, it's a good relative value in that sense. My guess is that NVidia figured out that most of the rejected silicon from the 3090 was only very slightly off the mark, and they could fill a niche and sigificantly raise prices. Now, here's the kicker: I don't think the price change at MSRP won't affect consumers in the slightest. What it will do is change who's pockets gets the biggest part of the inflated retail prices. NVidia will be making more for the same silicon, and the board partners will pass that on to their distributors. So the distributors and end retailers will make less. The near $2000 current market retail for a 3080 (or more for a 3090) won't change as a result of this part coming to market. In fact, you may end up getting the Ti model for the same over inflated prices as the non Ti, just because there isn't any market headroom to charge more.
Of course, if NVidia is coming to market with a metric sh-tton of these cards, they could rock the entire market. It's in their interest to drive retail prices back down closer to MSRP, as consumers will be "happy" to only get screwed out of a few hundred more dollars instead of $1000 or more on top.

If you know anything about ltt's work schedule you would understand that it's not an easy thing for them to do same day videos. As their channel gets bigger and they have more projects it's harder to be as responsive. Right now they are doing 17 videos a week. That's a pretty tight schedule. Whether you view this either positively or negatively is up to you. He did have a cut in stating that he wasn't impressed with the price. And I'm sure he'll elaborate on it more probably during the wan show.
But at the same time look at this from nvidia's point of view. Why should they release it at a lower price if it's just going to sell out instantaneously anyway? And in many cases to scalpers who will just profit off of it even more. If I'm on the board or a shareholder I'm going to want the company to make as much money as possible.
Also as of note: Nvidia doesn't have an unlimited supply of wafers or memory, so they're basically taking advantage of the demand and using what wafer supply they have to its fullest potential.
You (We) may not like it because of the high prices, but that is the law of supply and demand. Once the demand starts dropping the prices will start dropping.
AMD is going through the same thing. Only in some ways they have it worse because they have to supply graphics card CPUs and console chips. And they are getting their raw materials from tsmc who is already tapped out....
