After Bobby singing unchained melody they lightened things up. Bobby was known for his sense of humor and Bill never knew when Bobby would pull a gotcha on him like he did on this song too.
Bobby added so much. RIP Bobby. For another great singer listen to k.d. Lang sing "Crying" And Roberta Flack singing "The first time ever i saw your face". But i encourage you to.cheçk out some of Bobby's singles like He , My Prayer, Somewhere. So good!!
These two were so good Elvis would even go see them, and they became good friends, Bobby's vocal range was unbelievable he was so good and they harmonized so good together, noons better!
Andy Williams was probably the least square of the adults on TV variety shows, he was so open to what the kids stars were doing, at least within a frame work. He jumped right in and got cheers from the kids in the crowd. Just an all around nice guy.
It's impossible to watch The Righteous Brothers and Andy Williams do this, without having an ear do ear smile on your face the whole time. Thanks for showing this, I had forgotten it came Unchained Melody.
I'm still trying to work out when Andy got the tambourine off Bill ... love the clip could watch it forever, Bobby was so relaxed and having fun, genuine smile and showing off his dancing skills. Just adorable!
So glad to see you appreciate the RB. Complete entertainers. With the chops to do that. And, yes, kudos to Andy, a crooner, for holding his own. Thanks for your comments.
Chad, You nailed it !! Your remarks regarding the outstanding talent of Bobby & Bill (&Andy) has truly displayed a different side of them. There are more on You Tube and you will be hooked on them like those of us who were young adults at that time in the 60's. Great classics never get old--only we seniors have, but this music keeps us moving and enjoying it as much as we did back then. Cathy
Whoa, I think I’m falling in love with this commentator. What a contribution he makes! I agree with him… Such a talent, such fun they are having, Bobby’s dancing, such a joy!
Awe man, look at Andy jive. Chad way back in the good old days I use to watch the Andy Williams show. He had the Osmond's on when they were really young. Such entertainment 💞💞💞
Thank you so much Chad....you made me smile from ear to ear! Just fantastic! If you liked this have you seen the Shindig shows? Just incredible, and so much FUN! Your reactions are priceless!
Andy Williams although a very talented and great singer , loved to showcase new talent . He had the beegees on his show when they were known as/the Gibb 9:18 brothers
Andy was a famous and successful singer who had been performing professionally since he was a small boy. He started with his brothers, called, creatively, The Williams Brothers. His was the definitive recording of Henry Mancini's Moon River. This is why he had his own tv show in the sixties.
For those who don’t know Andy Williams; This performance & the one of Bobby Hatfield singing Unchained Melody, is on The Andy William’s show. He was a wonderful, very famous singer, whose career lasted over 70 years (till his 2012 death). 1938 to 1953, he & 3 brothers were The William’s Brothers, singing on radio, in films & records. Andy went solo in 1953. He recorded 43 albums, 15 certified Gold & 3 Platinum, had 6 Grammy nominations & sold over 100 million records worldwide. He had a weekly TV show in 1962-63, then started doing regular specials, which he did for many years, winning 3 Emmys. The popularity of his Christmas Specials, his 8 Christmas albums & his song “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” earned him the name Mr. Christmas. He was close friends with Senator Robert F. Kennedy & sang at his 1968 funeral. He hosted the Grammy Awards from 1971-1977. He also had a theater in Branson, MO named Moon River, after his biggest hit.
Never missed the Andy Williams Show. He was the best! And I have never forgotten this show, in October '65. I was 22 and fell instantly in love with Bobby.
Andy began singing with his brothers as a quartet before going on to an extremely successful solo career. His most famous hit was Moon River. Bobby and Bill spent many hours performing in clubs where they had to be not just singers, but entertainers. It would be worth your time to check out their studio version of What'd I Say to experience them singing it straight, without the goofing around.
There’s another Righteous Brothers video you can react on. The video isn’t that clear, but the sound is great. It’s called Righteous Brother Loving Feeling Intro to Look at Me. It was still on the Andy Williams Show. I think Andy had them for a whole hour on his variety show.
Check out Andy Williams with Simon and Garfunkel singing Scarborough fair. And for Andy’s solo check out “moon River”. Andy has three other brothers that occasionally sang with him and they would sing in four part harmony! So he knows how to harmonize with other people!
They did a great Beatles medly with Nancy Sinatra, also there's a solo with Bobby singing summertime with a funny introduction by Bill then Bobby finishes and does Bill the same favor.
Thank you for your enthusiastic and insightful reaction and participation. You added even further excitement and your comments added to the appreciation.
Bobby was doing the moon walk way before MJ, you should see his dance moves in other video, I wondered how he did not get his legs tangled and go splat on his faces
Bobby's mother was sitting behind Bill to the left wearing a blue dress with a brown fur shoulder wrap and wearing eyeglasses. It was the first time she had heard Bobby sing live and Bobby was somewhat nervous because she was there.
I just love this so much! The first time I saw this performance, when Andy did his part, my jaw hit the floor HARD! I was just amazed! I love Andy, but prior to discovering this video, if I heard the name "Andy Williams," my first thought wasn't of Rock n Roll! Lol Andy killed it, baby! 🎶 🎸🎤🎼
I met Bill afew years ago n he was a great guy n very friendly talked to me for over 2 hours. Elvis came before MJ n did the moon walk And yes Righteous Brothers also did it Have you reacted to "Sweet Inspirations n Rock n Roll Heaven, Justin, You've Lost That Loving Feeling n many more. ,Bill is still singing in his 80's, Bobby died in 2003. You may like Elvis songs also. I never met Elvis but was friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died. Bill n Elvis were great friends getting together for dinners at Elvis home in Graceland n just sitting around talking about life. I'm at work so after I get home I'll give you afew Elvis songs that I know you will like. I love your reaction Keey those videos coming
Chad actually Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003 shortly after they were inducted into the ROCK and ROLL HALL OF FAME but Bill Melody is still singing and performing today 2022 imagine over 4 decades.Still sound good even in his late 70's
Brothers were everything anyone could ever dream of. Have you heard Gladys Knight and the Pips? Or Kristofferson ( why me lord), or Al Greene singing How do you mend a broken heart? Sara Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald? Some greats, but not all around entertainers like the Brothers
They always credit Frank Sinatra for their ability to be performers, not just singers. Sinatra liked them, booked tgem at the Sands in Vegas. They hung out with the Rat Pack. That is where they crafter their art as entertainers & performers.
Well, Hello again Chad. This is such fun, isn't it?! Wow. Andy Williams was my Father's Favorite while i was growing up and Yes he is an extremely talented artist. We are so fortunate that we have these archives to revisit today. If we didn't have these archives, no one would believe it. I don't want to be a downer here, but please allow me a little grace as I explain? When I look around today, there is something missing from everything in Life, just as you noted that we've lost something when it comes to our Music. While this is definately true, it isn't just our music, it is everythiong in our Lives today, is missing that certain Something and it is extremely saddening to observe this. This is not the world that You and I were born into any longer, I'm afraid. I woke up one day and... POOF! So many things had changed, but for some reason this "Change" seemed to happen over night somehow AND I was somehow left out of the loop, because I never got "The Memo?" Now, as I observe the world around me, it seems as though every facet of Life is missing, to the same degree as Music is missing a bit of Magic that used to be there. This has become obvious that it's missing from the Music of today, when compared to our staples from our younger years. I wish I knew exactly what it is that's missing, but I don't, so that makes something like this pretty hard to fix when you don't know what it is that's missing, ya know? On some level I'm sorry about writing this, but when I heard you mention that something is missing from the Music of today, when you reacted to "Unchained Melody," I simply couldn't resist. I'm wondering if you might feel the same way that I do? It's okay if you don't, but I'd like to know, is all, so that I will know that I'm not completely out of my mind, or something. Be good to yourself and thank you for sharing this with the rest of us. Cheers...
Thank you for describing what I also sense. There _is_ something, seemingly in the whole world, that has changed. Like you, I can't quite put my finger on it, and really there's no words to describe it. It's like a minor-note hum, or a vibration. The ambient background energy of the planet, of life, of living, of people in general -- everything has slightly changed a degree or two, like a guitar with one string slightly out of tune. That's the best I can describe what you referred to as that "certain something" missing from the world today. Hopefully it will get better.
Hey Chad, nice reaction as usual! I have some things to say about this clip: 1) They performed this song immediately after Bobby belted out “Unchained Melody,” and he wasn’t even out of breath! Amazing. 2) Andy Williams is INCREDIBLY talented, and you nailed one of the reasons why: he can blend is lovely voice with anyone. You might want to hear him join in with a couple of masters of close harmony: Simon and Garfunkel (singing “Scarborough Fair”) 3) Bobby Hatfield going so off the hook that he silences both Andy Williams AND Bill Medley is pure gold . Nice job on this reaction!
Jenny, not sure if you've been browsing the channel of late, but "Scarborough Fair" has been uploaded. I've got so many demanding Bee Gee fans, lol... (which I love the BGs so I don't mind.) Sorry it's been so long. Regards!
I thought it was immediately after this, Bobby managed to completely change his and the audience's mood, when they left him alone to sing Unchained Melody, in a superlative performance that set the gold standard for that song. Oh, Bobby, you were the best, why did they always call you 'the other brother'?
Chad your reaction was great but please they were never a band they were the greatest duo in music. They were having a good time and letting the audience see their God given talent. Andy Williams I think surprised everyone. These were live performances. Glad you enjoyed it Chad
Andy Williams had a long career first singing with his brothers the William Brothers and then he broke off and did a solo career of his own. You should listen to some of his old songs they're fantastic too. Not as great as the Righteous Brothers because he was singing in the 40s and the 50s before the Righteous Brothers so his style would be a little bit different, you know how things change.
Have a look at Andy singing close harmony with Simon and Garfunkel doing Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. Amazing. He was a very fine and versatile singer. Had to laugh when Bill and Andy left Bobby hanging there, quite funny and a bit evil.

What a great rendition of what I say. They were funny they were comedic, and their voices were great. It was a. whole total package.
Just watched the Shindig performance by the RB, "You are my sunshine", another Bill and Bobby triumph! It's black and white but well worth your time.
After Bobby singing unchained melody they lightened things up. Bobby was known for his sense of humor and Bill never knew when Bobby would pull a gotcha on him like he did on this song too.
Bobby was having a ball. I absolutely love this performance, Bobby is so charismatic x
Bobby added so much. RIP Bobby.

Andy Williams??
Andy had a blast.
Talk about groovy for 1965❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was 15 yrs old when I watched these guys on the Andy Williams show in 1965. So talented! Blue eyed soul!!! Love these memories! ❤❤❤❤

This was a Ray Charles popular song. These men were stellar singers and performers.

An old Ray Charles song.
Andy harmonizes well with them because he was an old hand at it singing with his brothers. “The Williams Brothers.”
Yeah, Ray Charles did it best. I saw him perform live in 1962. Still have fond memories.
Bill is still performing in his 80's, we lost Bobby in 2003!
