- REACTION VIDEO -- This is the reaction channel where the only reaction that matters is YOURS! I've noticed that there are two songs by the members of the Righteous Brothers that have been almost completely overlooked by other reaction channels. And in this video, I set out to correct that oversight. You will hear a standard by Bobby Hatfield that was one of the Righteous Brothers' biggest hits. And you will hear a solo performance by Bill Medley that he released after leaving the Righteous Brothers in 1968. These are two great songs that deserve some love. And I'm just the guy to give it.
Bobby Hatfield..Unchained Melody. The best ever.❤
My favourite song of course is Unchained Melody, the best song EVER I heard it when I was 14, I still love it now I'm 72, Sydney Australia.
Just beautiful music brings back great memories.
Bobby is indeed amazing. The "Blonde Bomber."
If"Unchained Melody" by Hamilton didn't bring on the tears, then Bobby's version certainly did. Love them both.
I was born in 1980, but I've always felt so connected to the 50s. It feels like ghost stories when I listen to any of these songs.
The Righteous Brothers weren't a thing in the 1950s. They came along in the '60s.
Un chained melody❤😂
My favorite was Unchained Melody by Bobby Hatfield the Live version done at the Andy Williams Show, then Soul & Inspiration comes in second with Bobby Hatfield singing not nearly enough in it. I wanted to hear more & more of his voice. What a gift he had, what talent, may Bobby rest in peace.
The B side of Ebb Tide, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons, is another great Bobby solo. Did you know Bill and Darlene Love of the Blossoms had a relationship? Darlene said they almost got married. I can't pick just one favorite and most of the ones that I love most weren't their big hits (though I love the hits, too). Here are 3 fun ones I've been listening to a lot lately:
I Need a Girl - very early, probably pre-Righteous Brothers, doo wop. Written by Bill. Bobby singing lead with Bill and probably the Paramours singing backup.
Don't Give Up on Me - Sort of revival tent gospel style. Wish there was video of them doing this live as I can just imagine how much fun they would have had with it.
Something You Got - Originally done by Chris Kenner, later by many including Wilson Pickett.
I think they’re both great singers.
My favorite song is the Unchained Melody of course . Love it since the first time I heard it on the radio in the fifties in my teens .
love any and all righteous brothers
What a great video. Definitely subscribed.
I'm so glad I decided to listen to you.Playing Bobby's EBB TIDE and then Bill Medley doing BROWN EYED WOMAN was great.Hardly anyone plays this song that was written for Bill specifically it's a great song.Thank you.
Bill Medley dated Darlene Love (the singer on the far right behind Bill in the Blossoms and the uncredited lead singer on several Crystals' hits) for a few years so "Brown Eyed Woman" could very well have been about their relationship.
Thanks for that info!
Wow! Bobby Hatfield "Ebb Tide" rendition so beautiful and his amazing voice.
First time I've heard this song.
Thank you, Radio Reactive One. I enjoyed your show.
My favorite is "Unchained Melody".
It is wonderful to see some of the faces behind the scenes of these hits - thank you!
Darlene Love of The Blossoms was the love he was singing about. Don't give it up! Love your commentary and insight.
Unchained Melody by Bobby Hatfield the Live version !
Ebb Tide sounds over-produced, overshadowing Bobby's voice.
Great song by Bill...love his voice. He could sing anything and it would be wonderful. He sure looked handsome with the beard and moustache! I have to find Bill singing Unchained Melody. Did you play it?
Soul and Inspiration is my favorite RB song because it touches my heart being so close to my life's situation now.
Thank you for this video!
Bobby’s ‘Unchained Melody’ plus Bill‘s ‘Brown Eyed Woman’ are my two favourite Righteous Brothers solos. I think Bobby’s ‘’Ebb Tide’ would have rivalled his success with ‘Unchained Melody’ except the orchestra drowned his voice out too much.
What a shame!
Wow both so darn brilliant take me to church guys
Loved the Righteous Brothers and the arrangements for all their music was excellent in those early years. Your work on the historical background is very good and much appreciated.
My prayer and I believe by Bobby Hatfield. Love his style of music
Thank you! 😊 I subscribed to Radio Active One while hearing "Unchained Melody". You've given me something unique -- background information and musical versions -- that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. You are producing a fine and unique product that that I greatly appreciate.
I am working my way through all the Radio Reactive One videos. Once again, thank you. 😊
Unchained... fave!
Just found your channel. Where you been hiding? I thought I'd watched all of these channels but some how I have missed yours. Bobbie lives on through his songs for so many people. There's not a night that passes that I don't listen to Bobby's beautiful voice. Mesa AZ
So good, always great. Thanks.
That's what I love, a full orchestra behind great singers. Ebb tide is another classic that Bobby made his own. And this one by Bill, no one else could perform nearly as well. Unchained Melody is "Bobbys' Song, just as Brown Eyed Woman is "Bills Song," Another one, so amazingly beautiful by Bobby, is "If I Ruled The World." Thank you for playing these two amazing songs. I have heard only 2 other reactors play Ebb Tide. Chad L Summers and girl named Jayy. [2 y's] Have you heard "Summertime" by Bobby or "He Ain't Heavy" by Bill? Together or solo, these two are the greatest!
Bill’s ‘I’m No Angel’ and ‘I’m Gonna be Strong’ are great as is Bobby’s ‘Summertime’ and ‘Sentimental Reasons’ are lesser known but still worth the play. Also ‘Hey Girl’ and ‘Harlem Shuffle’. Of their better-known work it would have to be ‘I Just Wanna Make Love to You’, ‘Justine!’ And of course ‘Soul and Inspiration’. I hope your channel grows and you can keep it going…. this ‘boomer’ really appreciates it!👍
Bobby's "Stay With Me" Should have gotten way more play. It's so great, I don't understand why it didn't. Bobby is amazing, as usual. Heart, soul, passion, anguish...he had it all in every song he sang.
thanks for the pics of Bobby.
It's not exciting, but "If I Ruled the world is one of the most beautiful Bobby has done, no fancy runs, just his magical voice.
I probably hadn't listened to it since I owned the album as a kid growing up. Thanks for reminding me of it. I just listened again. Totally worth it.
@@RadioReactiveOne Oh, yes! He could do anything with his voice, so easily.
Love Bill's beard. He was supposed to audition for "Jesus Christ Superstar, but they didn't hire him because of some stupid reason. I think "Brown Eyed Woman" was his best. Have you listened to Bobby's "Stay with Me" with Ringo on drums. Amazing, Bobby was. Bill's "I Just Wanna Make Love To You," with a little part by Bobby, You can hear Bill's amazing soulful sound. He is amazing.
Love your show. Came across it with the Righteous Brothers and of course you know that I'm not young so we all love the Righteous Brothers so you know what age group I am in. I signed up right away and hope that they'll be more enjoyable music, can't wait
@@suzanwahlquist3258 you can't get any better
Hard to choose a favorite but if pressed to pick one from the ones they sang together, it would probably be a toss up between Just Once In My Life and Soul and Inspiration. I don't think a lot of people realize how many solo tracks they recorded, especially in the first period together. One album, Standards, was nothing but solo performances.
I think "Just Once In My Life" is probably their most overlooked song. It's as strong as "Lovin' Feelin'," and was the follow-up to it. Unfortunately, the only "live" performance of it on TH-cam has some pretty rough video footage, which may be the reason why few reactors have bothered with it.
@@RadioReactiveOne But it's worth it. And "Summertime" on the tv show "Something Special" is definitely Bobby's Soul Sound at it's best. No one could could wail like Bobby!
Thanks a lot buddy !!
This addition to the history of the righteous brothers, is wonderful. I have never seen either Bill's, Brown Eyed Woman video, or Bobby's Ebb Tide production pictures. I enjoyed Bill's rendition and the Blossom's. I am familiar with the documentary "The Wrecking Crew" documentary, created by the son of it's Guitarist; Teddy Tedesco. I recommend it, along with the Oscar winning; Looking for Sugarman, Muscle Shoals, et al.. There is interlocking history such as Bill Medley's rarely discussed relationship with Brian Wilson. I loved and collected the history of most idioms of entertainment, when I hit the ground running in L A.. The history of Playboy, Tower, Casablanca, A&M, MGM, et al., where I made nearly daily stops. No offense to anyone uninterested; but it's what's behind you that becomes in part or whole; what's out front. Good work, Radio Reactive One. I'm sorry I haven't seen all of your work. Good Luck with your heart.
Blessings
I have been looking everywhere for a video of Bobby singing Ebb Tide and all I've found is someone doing a cover (a pretty good job of it) on some talent show, perhaps Stars In Their Eyes? I'm not sure what the show is but I thought he was Bobby until I looked closer. Have you found any live video of Bobby singing Ebb Tide?
And thank you for this channel, which I just discovered. I loved the Andy Williams clip of Bobby singing Unchained Melody and your commentary taught me so much. Loved that he bit his lip at the end because his mom was in the audience and he knew he "nailed it". He sure did...
I really did want to hear Bill sing The Best Song they ever did, Unchained Melody by his departed partner. I am sure he couldn't do it better, but I also am sure he did it better than Elvis, 2nd best after Babby. Really curious to hear it!😃
You or I could sing it better than Elvis.
@@ProdigyBowlersTour oh well, I get you there, but... so could 82% of all alive people today then!😵🤯 Naa, it's just that somebody should have told Elvis in advance that Unchained Melody is not a rock song!😆
I remember Bill singing Old Man River and I totally lost it. It just took me to church. And I'm an atheist. I've always wondered about the backgrounds of Bill and Bobby. How did they come to develop so much soul in their voices? Were they always singing like that? Who were their influences? You can't go to a store and buy that. Something had to strike them when they were very young and how they found each other is a mystery to me.
Unchained Melody
I was giving your channel likes, but didn't think to subscribe until "Brown Eyed Woman". As you said, why haven't the other reactive channels reacted to it! Is it because most of them seem to be black? Keep giving us renditions reactors haven't reacted to yet! Hopefully, they will. When I find something I like, I keep the original feeling I have alive by seeing others feeling what I had feeling, too
Very informative!
Ebb Tide, beautiful song, sounds like Hatfield is singing it beautifully, but the orchestra was drowning out his voice! Spector's wall of sound wasn't good in this song. Not like the softer, complementary orchestra on the Andy Williams show Unchained Melody.
Summertime by Bobby is fantastic. Also My Prayer, The White Cliffs of Dover, Cryin in the Chapel and Brothers are good songs.
I would absolutely love to see many "brown eyed women's" reactions to Brown Eyed Woman!!!
Fecho osolhos e ja me sinto mais jovem continuem com musicas para😢😮
Bobby's was the better versio n of unchained melody..by far.
No one's questioning that. Especially Bill Medley.
I liked Unchained Melody& Summertime by BOBBY HATFIELD.
Play You'll Never Walk Alone they did on the Ed Sullivan show.
You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling!
How about Bobby Hatfield singing "My Prayer" ? The video itself isn't very good but it's the only one I've been able to find. Maybe you can find a better quality video. TIA! Mesa AZ
I like this but can barely hear Bobby for all the instruments!
My prayer and I believe by Bobby Hatfield. Love his style of music
