When you do water pumps on those coyote engines they always disturb the y connector and o ring on the hose and they leak
How caN I contact u directly. Having issues with 2015 Ford transit connect 1.6l. No start. Have no crank signal and p0118 for coolant temp. Will still code caused it not to start? After excessive cranking it will logged p0322 for crank sensor

Will that o ring fit a 5.0 mustang as well? Amazon is saying it won’t

Watched video 2x and followed the steps you give, and even was brave enough to take throttle body off and cleaned it too. Everything went real great. Thanks for instructions. BTW to others- it took me 2 hours from start to finish.

I had to do this same job on my 2013 f150. Had a friend standing by watching. I was over the rad, arms deep into the hoses spewing all kinds of fowl puke language. Finally got done, looked around, he was gone. Asked him later where he went, he said he left before I start throwing tools. It wasn’t that bad. I think I scared him.

Can't help but notice the 5.0 repair playlist has two videos...the Eco Boost playlist has 14...Triton has 74 videos! Happy I got the 5.0, and sold my 5.4 to get it... You have to love it when the known common problems are "Sometimes people don't change the oil enough"
I have been a Ford guy since my first hand me down car which was a 70 mustang Mach 1. I have been fighting Fords engineering since day one. I had to remove the complete dash to change two nylon bushings on the clutch pedal!!! Fast forward some 35 yrs, ALWAYS worked on my own stuff and here I am with my 2014 F150 5.0. Always bought new fords and learned as I go. We are a long way from carbs and 5/16 hose clamps. You have helped me keep up with the times, keep my Fords running and problem free with your great videos! My 14 has every MINOR issue you have described. Water pump(junk), “O” rings, burn fuse and brake issues. Every time ….you have the video! Even my Transmission fluid change with no damn dipstick! Keep um coming pal, I only have 140K so at least 140K more to go on this one. Thanks

Well….here I am again. 203506 miles on same 2014 F150 5.0 and I am smelling antifreeze for about a week now. Couldn’t find anything but the level was obviously going down. Weekend came and I pulled the air intake apart to access water pump area (replaced at 75000). Nothing to see. Wiped my finger around the clamp on the thermostat and there it was. Leaking on the back side. I came in and jumped right on this channel and of course, he has the perfect video. Ordered parts from his channel and will be replacing all next weekend. Thanks again.

I replaced mine today with 2 new belts and I also done a coolant flush too(per your other post). It wasn’t bad at all. Took me about 3hrs to do it all and I really took my time. Thanks a lot for your instructions. It really helped a lot

Yikes! I was too late finding this video and the dealer found and fixed it. Front/rear differential fluid replacement, new antifreeze and replacement of the Y connector and hose cost me just a hair under a grand.

Thanks. I bought a used 2014 F150 XLT with the 5.0 released from a fleet leasing company which overall runs great. Love having a truck again. Your videos really help before, as in the purge valve causing stall issues with no check engine error codes. Your video prevented me from chasing my tail or having to the Ford dealer who would chase their tails across my wallet. What a simple fix, thank you.
I currently smell traces coolant when I park the truck after a it's warmed up. Only about a half a cup every couple weeks but don't see leaks, nor have overheating issues. But I smell it. Now with this video I know actually where to look for possible leaks since currently I can't not spot one. Going to watch your throttle body cleaning video, looking forward to that piece of knowledge shared to all of us out here. Thank you!!!

The content of your videos and the information you give are fantastic. It was through one of your videos that you mentioned a recall on the Taurus, Edge etc. for the rear toe link. I called my dealer here in Ontario to find out about it. I gave them the recall # and my service guy said he wasn't aware of it but within a week he called with an appointment for the recall. I wish you posted this back in January after my 2015 F 150 5.0 went in the shop for the same problem. Down side the dealer had my truck for 11 days before they could get the part so they say.

Hey guys, so i replaced this part on my 2012 5.0 model recently. After replacing it, my MPG dropped dramatically to about 11 mpg. I replaced the thermostat, and cleaned the MAF sensor, and throttle body since I was under the hood. After that my MPG went up to 18 MPG! Never would have thought an old (119k miles) thermostat could have such an affect on my MPGs!
Excellent video took me about 30 minutes plus fill and warm up time. Draining from the bottom of rad meant no spillage at all so belts were fine. Vehicle was completely cold I did cover belt area with rags. nice easy job. 2011 F150 5l

Thanks for this. Great info, especially on the quick-connect hoses/ throttle body/purge hose. I didn't know the coolant hoses had to be aligned 'notch to slot'. Just did this repair 9-2023. Along with changing OEM belts and A/C Idler pulley(since I had it apart). 2014 F150@ 215K👍
How hard is it to change the pulley?
@@J410N528 Ok, I have the 2014, 5.0. Once you relieve the tension on the A/C belt, it is a simple matter of removing a single bolt (15mm head) and the pulley comes right off. Easy to access with ratchet. Then reverse with new to install.

Another fantastic video! I've been wrenching over 50 years and I watch your videos and learn the vehicle-specific tips and smile at all the little things you do to work smart not hard. For example, use an impact wrench to get the throttle body bolts close and then use a socket to feel the tightness. Nice work! Thank you!

Thanks for the video! Just did this today on my truck. Only issue was I could not find the rad drain valve. Looked all over the passenger side lower section of the radiator. Ended up just popping upper hose off rad and letting it slowly drain down to the level of the Y hose and then changed it. 2017 F-150 XLT 5.0.
4/8 f150s in our fleet had that same damn leak. Like one after the other. Hated that entire month m

@Greg B I own three Ford pickups and they are used primarily for work. All regular cabs with long beds. No taking the kids to soccer practice with my trucks. haha I special ordered the '16 and here is a video the day I picked it up from the dealership.th-cam.com/video/5SVb-zv_9bg/w-d-xo.html and I discuss the window sticker and price.
@Greg B mine is a 2011, has 83000 on it, and it runs great. If I drive it right, it gets 23-26mpg on the highway. It's a 4x4 supercrew xlt with the 3.55 gears.
@@markk3652 I have never even come close to that mileage with the 5.0L
@@ozzstars_cars again, I drive it easy, and keep everything nailed down with maintenance. Clean air filter, tires aired up properly, and alignment in spec. The 3.55 diff gets the credit here too. My 2006 had the 3.73 gears, and the 5.4 3v it drank fuel a bit more greedily.
Thanks for the detailed video. I am going to replace my Y-pipe on my 2015 F-150. I am losing coolant, slowly. No puddles seen. I know it drips on the serpentine belt because belt slips and squeals when I turn on the AC. Only happens when it's really hot outside, 90 + degrees. Replacing both belts and the Y-pipe, and O-ring at 67,000 miles. Do it myself for $120.00.
I have the same problem on my 16 XLT. Small stain on ground sometimes as it seems to start and stop. Glad I saw this vid, cause I thought it was a bad upper radiator hose.

I’ve done this job 2x times now and the reservoir never does burp. I’ve even left it running for about 20 minutes at a time. Any thoughts on why? Or is it a big deal or not?
What size are these hoses? I'm curious if there are any brass y-pipe's available that would allow for full inner diameter flow (or close to it!) to replace this plastic monstrosity.

My y-fitting just started to leak. I have a 2012 with 107K on it and it has the original water pump. I am wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the water pump since I have heard they usually go out at 80K? Also wondering if I should do the thermostat? Thanks for any advice!!
Can you do a video with the VCT solenoids on the 5.0. I have a 2016 that keeps having this problem.not alot of info on it except pay $4k for ford to replace the cam phasers. I thought this issue was fixed when they stopped making the 5.4 3v.

Another one is the heater hose on the passenger side. All those plastic connectors on the hoses are terrible. Replaced the hoses, y connections, and orings. Lol. Love your videos man.

I have a 2016 5.0 that is leaking at this same upper location. It has already leaked on the serpentine belt, so I'm wondering if it is really necessary to remove that? Also, can you get by with not draining the entire system? My 16 has 75,000 on it. I know new coolant is probably better, but didn't know if necessary. Also, any problem with going with a universal coolant? I have several vehicles, and it would just be easier.
Sorry for so many questions, but I'm just a diy guy, trying to make it as easy as possible, but want to do it right. I do plan on keeping this truck for awhile.

If you have this problem do yourself a favor and do what he did and change that upper hose and the T. I changed o rings and it lasted about 90 days and started leaking again. Also make sure you clean up the corrosion/ porosity on those metal pieces that is going to be a big issue on these engines. Piss poor design. Great video!!
Thank you for this video! It was exactly what I needed to fix my leaking coolant system! And I'm not super mechanically inclined, but I can follow instructions, and these are pristine! With buying parts, coolant, a drain tube, throttle intake cleaner, and picks, it cost me about $100 and a little over an hour. Plus I cleaned the throttle body, which I'm sure would've added onto Ford's $600 quote that took several days to get. Thanks again!
a non-ford dealership just quoted $698. For an upper radiator hose and the "t" piece junction... but I can't help but feel like this dealer ship charging upwards of $400 dollars for labor and waiting two days to tell me all of this is totally worth it... nope haha !

I just bought a 2013 Ford f150 with a 5.0 Coyote engine the V8 and when I put cooling in it I seen it was leaking right below the thermostat housing. It was drooling down behind the pulleys and going down the crankshaft pulley and dripping down to the center front of the engine. So when I inspected my hoses the gasket in the t-shape connector was completely wore out. In that little black extension for the other hoses to connect to was also rusted out and cracked and the other hose was kind of swollen. So I'm hoping it solves my problem cuz the water pump is new and it was not leaking and it was dry from there

thanks for the video. It was my problem. This was harder to do than thought. Very hard getting all the connections to line up. I had to remove the thermostat housing & that made connections much easier. The connection to the thermostat housing is very difficult to line up due to the tension in the radiator hose, but removing the thermostat fixed that. I made that connection first.
Awesome video! You have links for the 50/50 and Concentrate coolant. For this job which one do I use? I know it will vary but how much coolant should I buy. I have a 2012 with a 5.0

Sure it's a "super simple" job. Nothing is super simple on a Mod motor except for changing the Alternator.
@@DS-ss7vlThe 2V motors are much easier to work on. That's why I'm going to keep my 4.6L 2V as long as I can. It ain't sexy, but it requires minimal maintenance compared to the overly complicated, overly engineered modern stuff.

i hope you see this... my 2015 f-150 overheated the other day and i noticed my coolant was low, so i added coolant and all seemed fine. the next day i checked and found all the coolant had again leaked out of the truck. so my question is, will the coolant leak from this area even if the truck is not actively running? or do i have another issue? it does look like the coolant may be leaking form this area, but i cannot tell for 100% sure
Man I wish I would’ve seen this sooner. My dealer fixed a coolant leak and charged me an arm and a leg and pro ably replaced this part instead of the heater core that they said they replaced. Great video nonetheless.

This was a great video. Removing those spring clips and cutting the hose to remove it are the things that the average guy would struggle with. Plus, removing the air after coolant system work is a hot topic around the internet. People report overheating problems, and "burping" is often the first suggestion.

Because new and used vehicles are so expensive that people are fixing their old ones.

I just did this fix. I am curious about procedure for refilling to coolant. You have other videos that go into length about burping the system to get the air out. For this one, it looks like we just need to fill the degas tank, and watch it. I held the rpms and ran the heat a while to verify and everything is working good. I only drained about 3/4 gal and that is how much I captured and put back in.
2011 coyote 245k I just had that large pipe coming from the radiator snap off right where the plastic meets the rubber, luckily when my fan went on High speed I turned off my truck and everything was fine, I would replace all the hoses after 10 years 200kmiles, easy $200 job

I’ve replaced all the hoses from the reservoir, the upper radiator hose, Y connector, lower radiator hose. Etc. I still have a coolant leak… do you think it’s the manifold?

I was following your steps in the video and I have ran into a snag. I'm installing the Denson aluminum Y instead of the OEM plastic one and I'm having a time getting it to snap into place after putting the hose on the one spot. Any suggestions?
