Every team has either a star or a future star but only some are true title contenders. Ranking the stars is tough because some NBA players are overrated and some are underrated but it is a great way to put the league in perspective before the 2022 season begins.

The bubble season gave LBJ and AD a long break before the playoffs, Kawhi’s lucky bounce and injuries to KD and Klay got Toronto a ring, a spike in the salary cap coincided with KD’s free agency, Draymond getting suspended helped the Cavs come back from 3-1 etc etc.

How can you use injuries as a knock for Kawhi but say that LeBron is still on top because “he couldn’t compete due to the injury”. You used injury history a lot but felt okay ignoring that for Bron. 1) AD was always that dude, just played in a brutal conference with a constantly injured supporting cast.
2) I would put Trae in the all-NBA tier based on what we saw in the past run. Either that or a tier between all-nba and all-star could make sense.

I think after this season we can safely say Durant does not belong in the Goated tier. At least not above players like Curry or Giannis or Jokic all of which I'd argue are better at their peak than Durant was at his. People too easily fall in love with Durant because he's 6-10; but everything he does on offense Steph can do better and he's not half as versatile as Giannis and Jokic. Simply put, he's the most overrated player of his generation.

Gotta divide up that all-star tier up WAY more. There's a big difference between a Jimmy Butler/Kyrie Irving/Brad Beal (who I'd call tier 1 all-stars), Zach Lavine/Donovan Mitchell/Julius Randle (tier 2 all-stars), and Kristaps Porzingis/Brandon Ingram/Pascal Siakam (tier 3 all-stars). Some of those guys, like Draymond and Lowry are flat-out not all-star caliber anymore.
