Not entirely different from how we use soon/fast/now/immediately/quickly/pretty quickly/in a hurry. It makes sense that there are multiple ways of saying "soon." The part about salary and going to Japan soon reminded me of that.

its pretty clear in the video, just give it another watch. sugu gives the impression of urgency or no time elapsing at all. mousugu sounds like its coming up soon as a future thing, such as the english phrase 'around the corner' as in, already going to happen, hence the 'mou'
