The Gruven site clearly indicates that you need to buy a new motor from them to prevent the grounding issue. At least it does now, lol. I wonder if this video inspired that warning.
What no ones seems to mention is that on my 2013 ram mirror motor there is a very small rubber o ring and metal washer at the end of the cork screw shaft...the o ring stayed on the shaft but the washer stayed stuck in the hole when i pulled the motor out.
Cool video! The mirror I’m gonna fix does not fold in or out so I’m guessing it’s the gear because I hear the motor running. I’m glad I found your video because I would have just bought the all metal gear, assuming it’s better being all metal. Great job!
Great Job there Dan, really appreciate the DIY and detailed steps. $50.00 for the motor on Amazon, your $7 gear + the time & effort probably ends up same.
I don't think you can do that with them folding, ,just the mirror going down when you put it in reverse. But you can check your menu settings on the dash.
Maybe, but the motor on the truck is probably better built that what you are going to get that cheap. Plus I like fixing things, knowing how they work, and don't like throwing things away that work just fine.
Nice DIY. Very helpful. I’m about to do this both mirrors on my 2012. This is by far the best DIY I’ve found for this.
Thanks, glad I could help.
I ran into the same problem with the grounding issue. I haven't heard anyone else mention it on TH-cam, so thanks!
I did not see anyone either, that's why I wanted to mention it.
Thanks Dan, just repaired my wife's 07 Tahoe by watching your video. In the words of Jack Nickelson as the Joker.
"You're my new No. 1 guy!"
Glad this helped. I'm your guy.

It may have, but it was cheaper to get another gear that was correct. It has been working great ever since.
Thank you so much!! Very thorough instruction. Awesome, Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for your help 👍
well done, Dan, great and very clear explained!
Thank you kindly!
Its a wonderful demo for this matter, I hope the metal one works with my car, keep up Dan
You can try it, but you may have to upgrade the motor too. Mine is working flawlessly with the plastic original style gear.

Glad you can learn from my mistakes.
Also - if you use a long bolt with a washer on the bottom and a scoket on top thas spring goes on a lot easier.
Thanks, hopefully I won't have to do this for a while. It has been working great.

Yea, I think it depends on the direction you go in.
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed

I would say they are bearings, but I did not need them so I am not sure.
I live in Raleigh. Will you do mine please.
I don't generally work on other peoples vehicles. But if you get the parts and Email me, I would be glad to help you out.

What size socket did you use?
Sorry, I don't recall. I should have said it in the video.
