    Thank you so much for sharing these videos! It means so much. I’ve been looking everywhere for full, proper coaching sessions to watch, observe and learn from, but there’s not much out there. I also love the analogies and the bulding on them throughout the session. It’s genius. I’m learning a lot. Thank you again ❤️

    Thank you Lyssa for sharing this video. A few things that stood out from me was how you matched the energy and conversation pace of your Coachee and your use of a consistent metaphor (the plate) for the Coachee to identify their solutions and actions. Your use of long conversational style questions gave a sense of a strong connection and relationship with the Coachee. You have given me a lot to think about!

    Another inspiring example of a master at work, thank you. One technique which stood out for me in this example was grabbing ahold of the client's metaphor (thanksgiving PLATE) and weaving it through the rest of the conversation. It is affirming and allowed Tracey to continue to build her ideas within a picture that resonates with her. Another part of the secret sauce.

    Hi Lyssa,
    Thank you so much for sharing your sessions with us. That´s very generous. I love how the WHY was explored and how the session naturally led to the client unblocking her situation. Amazing!
    Quick question - I have noticed that you refer to asking open-ended questions to stay non-directive but you sometimes use closed questions. Is there a reason for this? ´ie: Are there any other things that need exploring...?.´
    I was also surprised by the fact that you shared your ´observation/reading´ of what the client was saying when she said she didn´t know how to get off the board. The binary comment. Could we have asked - what would make saying I need a month off easier? or something along those lines? Is it ok to share our opinion about what the coachee says?
    I am still training so I am sorry if my questions are missing the point!
    Thanks again for putting your sessions up.

    I so appreciate the work you are doing to supplement our learning as we approach coaching as a profession. One question - you reference - during the early questions around procrastination - a "transcript analysis" where you "talk about choice points - leading vs. being led." Is this analysis available somewhere? I ask because that point - leading vs being led - is so critical to me - I would really absorb whatever thoughts and guidance you might have on that - and of course it is so digestible within the context of the filmed session so I feel like I would really learn from it. Thank you again - I'm a huge fan of your work!

    • @LyssadeHart
      @LyssadeHart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @GiaWhite, I use RaeNotes as the transcript analysis element, they have the competencies baked into the program, so that is easy to start to check ALL the competencies that your question meets, and at each of my questions, I might consider other CPs to what I asked. I do this to expand my ear on possible ways of being curious, based on what the client offered me. :)

    Thank you so much Lyssa for these demo videos they are very helpful. I like your light fun style, it resonate with me. I love to have fun with my clients as well. I have a question for you though, what was the clue for you through the conversation to pull up the word "INTEGRITY "?

    • @LyssadeHart
      @LyssadeHart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Dalia, thank you for this question. I had to sit with it for a bit. What had INTEGRITY show up for me? My first, off the cuff, thought was, “It just bubbled to the surface for me, intuitively.” But the more I thought about it I knew; it could only bubble up intuitively if something had prompted me to hear it. So, I went back into the transcript.
      What I keyed in on subconsciously was through the series of the response to my questions. Starting with, “What does procrastination mean for you?”
      Client: I have specific things that need to be done. I know they need to be done.
      Then I asked, “What is the experience you're having when you are not procrastinating, and things are getting done the way that you would like them to be. Like you're doing what you need to be doing?”
      Client: I'm productive. I’m able to focus and get tasks done. The word would be productive.
      There were a series of questions that led to the client describing: "Because I have a lot of demands and other people, um their productivity depends on me. If I don't get my piece done, then they can't get their piece done."
      When I hear someone describing that other people’s work DEPENDS on them, and they aren’t getting it done, it piqued my curiosity about the value under that belief. Which, for me, brought the word INTEGRITY. I hope this helps to understand my intuition for testing my hypothesis, which then I tested by asking about the word that had shown up.
      I think coaching is to a large degree, coaches testing their assumptions and curiosities. :)

      Hi @Victoromollo7042, That is a really great question. There is some subjectivity to my choices, and I agree with you, I think that question at 10:44 does Evoke Awareness, I think it also is in alignment with Trust and Safety, Presence, and Listening as well. hi Lyssa, this demo was very insightful - thank you for sharing! I have one question: at the very end you said: "This is a beautiful word". What are your thoughts about labeling the activities of our clients? What I mean is whether we should take our position as coaches towards certain phrases/actions or remain completely neutral?

    • @LyssadeHart
      @LyssadeHart  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, I do think that we label things too much, but then there is our personality. I save my labels for things that sound like the client is happy, having fun, and when they share a powerful insight. I might say, "Brilliant!" or "Amazing." I guess I could contain my thoughts, but this is also about the client being heard and celebrated for their insights or work in the process.
      I think the danger is when the client says something like, "I'm overwhelmed..." and the coach says, "That's terrible." or "You shouldn't let yourself get like that."
      I will probably always be a coach who has to tone down her excitement with her clients. I don't have the interest or capability to remain completely neutral. It's not my style. I do hope I don't wash my excitement over the client too much, but so far, they haven't said to tone it down, and I ask them. :)

      Thank you for sharing your perspective. I completely understand that different coaching styles resonate with different people, and it's important to find an approach that aligns with you and your client's needs and expectations.
      In my experience, the executives I work with do respond well to this style of coaching. When you mention a "thought partner," I interpret it as helping clients independently think through their situation. If an Executive brings the language of a full plate, then that is the way the Executive speaks. I have worked in many industries, one executive in the Tire industry used the idea of different size tires for how to move forward with more ease, as one example.
      In my 30 years of working with people, I've found that executives don't typically need my expertise to solve their problems. Instead, they benefit from having someone to help them view their challenges with fresh eyes, hear what words light up their brain, and support them in exploring what's holding them back from acting on their own ideas.
      This demonstration is a moment in time that shows a client having her own insights, her brain lighting up to those insights, and then coming up with her own solutions.
      I do appreciate your insight into what your executives might prefer. Thank you for your feedback, wishing you continued success in your coaching journey!

      @mfandrew You use different coaching methods and techniques depending on the client and their issues. Clearly this approach worked well for this client. When the coach demonstrates understanding, compassion and understanding they create a safe space for the client to open up. Just because people are in executive roles doesn’t mean that this approach wouldn’t work. Executives are often in competitive environments where they don’t get safe space to be vulnerable. Where appropriate, I have used this approach in my coaching practice with executives and found people have responded positively. You should also check out the executive coaching videos of Alicia Marie who uses a similar approach in her business coaching. Try challenging yourself to have an open mind about how different coaching styles might work in various scenarios.

    7:18 is it okay to give the word integrity to the client and then build further on it? Does this not affect the direction of the conversation?

      Great question. For me, it fits with Marker 7.5. I am offering an intuition to the client, I am not telling her that the value being impacted is integrity, I am sharing an intuition and asking her if it aligns or not. And, remember, every question affects the direction of the conversation, so it the question inviting the client inside? Or outside? Is the question inviting the client to make meaning or is the coach making the meaning and sharing that with the client. Example: "As your talking, it's clear this is an integrity issue. It shows how much you care, right?" Very different delivery. Thanks for the comment!
