In this episode of The Coaching Studio, Lyssa deHart welcomes Carrie Sackett, PCC, also known as America’s Loneliness Coach, for a deep dive into her unique approach to coaching. Carrie shares her inspiring journey from her first job as a retail sales clerk to founding the Center for Group and Couples Coaching. The discussion covers how Carrie’s experience in social therapeutics has shaped her methods for building relational skills, combating loneliness, and fostering emotional resilience. Looking at the role of groups in solving things like the Loneliness Crisis. The solution to people’s loneliness is unique to each person. We can’t prescribe the solution but rather we have to support people to build their relational muscles.
Listeners will learn about Carrie’s innovative use of theatre and improv in coaching, which helps clients build stronger connections and navigate uncertainty in an increasingly complex world. The episode also touches on the challenges women face in the corporate environment, the importance of self-trust, and how mentorship has influenced Carrie’s personal and professional growth.
Carrie offers insights into the power of social therapeutics in personal growth and the role of playfulness and co-creation in learning and development.
This episode is packed with valuable takeaways for coaches, leaders, and anyone interested in enhancing their relational skills and personal growth.

Lisa you are awesome love you and your videos very much. Sorry doctor, the truth is the truth.

      @@pitbest83 I think it's important to remember that he was not mentioning any particular books as a focus, but rather, that for some people, a faith base is part of how they determine how to be a good person. He mentioned the Bible, the Quran or Hadith, the Torah, and the Bhagavad Gita, to name a few. I do not believe that he was saying that's what he reads; he was talking about how people often learn what it means to be a good person through religious writings. He was only listing off religious writings. Just some extended food for thought.

      Hi @RadiantRyker50 I think this would be a great topic of a video. My first thought is that you look on the ICF website for programs and then you interview several to see if they resonate with your interests. How do they teach? What is their focus? And, could you speak with a few past students? Remember when it comes to any education you are the consumer and so doing your due diligence is going to be your first most important step. :) Great question!

    Lyssa, thanks for the video! I have no doubt that the agreement is a key, still 3.4 is tricky for me as 80% of time I ask a client: "Where do we need to begin exploring?", they answer "I don't know". As if they want me to decide the direction which I don't want to do) I'm just interested if this is the case in your practice. And also thanks for the alternative question "What are the obstacles?", I haven't thought of it in the context of 3.4

      @LyssadeHart หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@asonnette it can really be helpful to add one little element to your 3.4 question. I’m assuming you’re clear on the outcome or success measure. Client, “I would be confident to have X difficult conversation with whomever.” Coach, “Where would be important to explore first towards you experiencing more confidence?” Or, something like that. This way the question supports the client to explore what’s between where they are and what they want. Thoughts?

      @@LyssadeHart wow, I haven't received the notification for your comment. Thanks for your answer. Sometimes it works and sometimes Client is like "I don't know, if I knew I would try it out, but I don't know". I can't remember the exact example but if the session goes this way it's rarely a good session.

    Thank you Lyssa for such a great video. I have recently received my coaching certification and this video really resonates with how I approach coaching. As a coach it is the most important thing to explore, with the client, the way can achieve what it is they want to achieve. Strategies are just tools to assist, understanding the client goes such a long way.

    • @LyssadeHart

      Hi @Benskingdom, I agree, strategies are fine, but being in a partnered conversation is a very different thing. I really takes that clarity for the client to name what is important, what would make the conversation successful, and where they believe we need to start exploring. Thank you for the comment! Cheers.

    I'm not even two minutes into this video and know that it will change the rest of my life! 22 years ago I made a comeback in life that was so incredible, and so unlike the person I'd been up to that point. You see I just lost everything in a fire and shortly there after my marriage and job as well. Through this somehow I believed "I" had the power to change my life and I did reaching incredible success for seven years. And then I lost it! And I've been looking for it ever since. I now see I gave ALL my power away to the external things again and dropped all the internal things that had made my life so good, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! 😊 You've no idea what you've done here...

    This is great information, Lyssa. I have often been given the feedback that I speak quite a bit in a coaching conversation. However, at the MCC level coaching, I feel that it is important to finesse a conversational approach. And it’s often valuable to offer observations and reflection.

      I, too, have been told I talk too much; some of it is style, and some of it is, to your point, the conversational approach. I do think it's been an important learning journey for me to really observe my coaching and explore if I am, in fact, talking too much or if what I am saying is useful to the client. :) Thank you for the comment!
