I'm really sick of the "shimmer" type reverbs, but I will say that the one on this pedal actually sounds really good.
Mark Lugg the really digital sounding shimmer of cheaper units is very hard to stomach for me too. Like it’s “trying too hard”

You can tell he's using rev. 1.0 of the firmware. they are up to rev 3.03 now, with several new effects and features. the next couple of releases will add looper functionality.

Dang it! It sounds and looks like it's an awesome pedal, well, I know it's an awesome pedal! I am currently waiting on the Ventris Reverb by Source Audio... I didn't wait last time and got the DD-500 and regretted it ... couldn't get the Nemesis until I sold that Boss thing... I'm sure the Empress is a lot easier to sell if I wanted to get the Ventris, but it really sounds like this might even be better or at least as good... sound wise it might be better... I don't know... knowing by using the nemesis they are always improving the algorithms and adding new ones... something Empress is doing too! So they are even there, also the presets seem to be more easily accesible here and don't need to buy an extra button like with the Ventris... it's a tough decision... I know I should wait... but I thought It would be released by now... this Empress reverb definitely looks awesome and I would get it before the Strymon big sky for sure , looks very, very nice... oh and it has dual reverb processors too right? Like the Ventris? So this one might be the best... damn... I want it!

And... Tell me, the sound quality on the Specular are really goods??? can compare to Eventide or something like that?
Anthony Estrella I'm not that familiar with the eventide, but the sound quality is very good. I find myself only using a few of the settings though and not all of them. They all sound good though
Any thoughts on this compared to the Big Sky?
Some say this one is better some say Strymon, i think its a matter of taste.
They both are really good reverb pedals.
I personally prefer this one myself.

You Have to do this Empress Reverb VS. the Big Sky soon! I want to know which one is better, more natural sounding. I know the big sky is amazing, but it has that smooth soft digital "Strymon sound". I think the Big Sky excels at the ambients and not the spring. How is the Spring on the Empress? Thanks Shnobs!
I own both, I love both. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. They are both top notch and fantastic. I feel the empress is more "practical" But it can get pretty ambient as well. I plan on doing a very large spring reverb comparison with a whole bunch of different reverbs, big sky and empress included. But it will take some time to put it together as I have 12 or 13 digital reverb pedals and 3 or 4 analog pedals with springs actually in them. I believe this pedal alone has 3 different spring modes.

Mark. Meyer I’m about halfway through and many of the reverbs have thing 1 serving as pre-delay
Doesn't seem as spacious as the Big Sky. Am I missing something? There is no spec info on the website as to internal processing and or types of processor. Any knowledge on this?

I would never. just to many knobs must quick and easy. sounds fine but fine just to much adjusting.

27 minutes of the same worship-band chords. Never pushed the limits at all. Everytime he changed settings he just tried to make it sound as pretty and ambient as possible. I came to see what this pedal COULD DO! I love the pedal. I just wish there was someone more competent to demonstrate.
Maybe you should do a demo for this pedal if you feel confident of doing it better.
All that complaining and you still haven’t posted a video of you reviewing it better.
