    Today, we’re inhabiting the Echosystem from Empress Effects. The Echosystem is a multifaceted dual engine delay, with an unbelievable level of control. Featuring 12 delay environments and several submodes within each, the Echosystem covers every delay type in the book, and even writes a few new chapters. Across all 12 environments, the Echosystem features 36 studio-quality delay types, with more in the works. Each delay engine is governed by five global knobs and two “thing” knobs that control individual parameters depending on which mode you’re in. These specialty knobs can control everything from modulation rate and depth to aliasing strength and decay diffusion. Navigating these types couldn’t be simpler, because the Echosystem gives you access to 35 presets, as well as two ways to cycle through them for quick patch changes. The routing capabilities are just as immersive as the delay selection, giving you the ability to run two different delay engines at once, then routing them in series, parallel, or with each engine going to an individual output. The dry signal path of the Echosystem is 100 percent analog, and the delay side features the latest in AD converters for the purest tone possible. The output processing is just as feature laden as the engines themselves, giving you three different cabinet simulators, as well as hum-free stereo operation because of an integrated output transformer. Empress has also included a universal control port that lets you connect any type of control device or protocol you may have, including MIDI, external audio, tap tempo, control voltage and expression control. And just like all Empress Effects, the Echosystem is built with the finest parts money can buy.

    Brilliant demo of a stunning pedal, Andy. Thank you once again. I'll be referring to your benchmark as a base for my own efforts later this month. Cheers ... from Vietnam!

      This an exciting rarity...never before has a human witnessed the courting ritual of the Andy, you can hear it's mating call echo....Eeeeempreeeeess, Eeeempressss. Lets see if we can get in for a closer look.

    That's my new crush right there, what a fantastic machine!
    This delay is simply mind-blowing, everything I always wanted from top notch delays (dual engines, easy banking) and so, so much more.
    Hope i can gather money soon to get me one of those ASAP

      Dan Jack-son wow really ? I went with the echo system and I love it! but in the back of my mind I wonder what the timeline could have been . I never tried it. I want to ask what do you see better or worse about the echo system compared to the timeline in regards to to sound and capabilities ?

    • @danjack-son4871
      @danjack-son4871 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      matthew diaz I find that the sound is very natural and keeps your tone...yours.
      I kinda miss the screen on the Timeline but it was small anyway.
      I love the duel delays which Timeline only had one dedicated dual delay.
      That is a small snapshot of what I like and think about it so far.

    1965... Shapes of Things, the groundbreaking hit from the Yardbirds... Andy did a nice interpretation of it at the beginning of the demo. This effects combo is the newest "thing" that companys are building. I'll have to save up a bit more to afford this one.

    That strat sounds sooooooooo good on that yardbirds. This fx is def the nicest Delay around, it's crazy..reverb,chorus,reverse..its insane.
    But even so, I'm more interested in listening to the beautiful tone of that strat,
    that's one of Andy's axes I haven't looked up yet.. he has videos on most of his guitars he uses here..
    it's nice. What beautiful music, great job.

      @Cesar. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend by that comment, but seriously... So many of the worship dudes use Strymon Timeline/Big Sky pedals that it IS the new worship sound. I'm not dissing your timeline.

    • @Travmann777
      @Travmann777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a game changer at the very least. Strymon is going to have a good response, and soon, or they'll probably lose a good chunk of their users to Empress.

  • @MrKadidle51
    @MrKadidle51 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've always just been a clean and overdrive traditional player. But I've been thinking about getting into more effects lately. Delay seems like a logical one to be next, however my fear is that while this thing is awesome, it seems like a newb wouldn't know what to do with it. Should I stick with just a single MXR carbon? Flashback x4? Or go balls to the walls with something like this or the strymon or pigtronix?

      @ryanwilson5936 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Joe Schmoe
      Get the best pedals you can realistically afford whether it be $30 or $300. While high-end pedals are awesome and very very appealing, you could spend $150 bucks and any of the multitude of pedals in that price range and be happy with your purchase (after research of course). If you’re new to pedals, there’s no need to spend $500 on any specific pedal to get a sound you’d be satisfied with. Unless you’re made of money then by all means go for it. I would lol.
      To get the most out of this pedal though you would need a stereo setup consisting of two separate amp/cab rigs or the capabilities to do it on a computer.
      Lots of options out there, shop around, demo them if you can, watch videos if you can’t and make a sensible affordable choice that works for your needs. Sometimes pedals that look promising end up being a disappointment regardless of price. I would like a handful of Strymons though. My pedals top out at $150-$200. I’m currently considering the Digitech Obscura delay. Sounds good for what I need and doesn’t cost a fortune.
      My best advice would be to invest in a quality power supply with isolated outputs especially if you plan on getting higher end pedals. I’m looking at getting a Strymon Ojai R30. It’s roughly $200 bucks and for the price of a decent pedal I can comfortably power any pedal I want. And you can daisy chain multiple power supplies together.
      Did you ever decide on some pedals? If so, what did you get?

      I don’t see that happening unless the Output level is below noon (unity). You might want to enable the buffer in the adv config mode, it could be due to cable capacitance. Good luck!

    as much as I love my Empress VMSD, I F&@* loathe its one way preset selection system and the worst part is that it sometimes skips presets for no reason and there's no way to go back other than cycle through every presets. So what I did is I put tape around and over the preset switch and I just dial my settings as I go.

      My El Capistan taxes my on-the-fly configuration skills. I'll stick with that, and a DD-3 for my crisp slappy needs. Simple man, simple needs. But this is a gorgeous sounding pedal.
