    This guy's demos are always great. I'd like to see him demo some famously bad pedals, like the Boss DS-1 or vintage EH Deluxe Big Muff.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      they're bad pedals?

    • @1971SuperLead
      @1971SuperLead 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DivKidVideo Very bad. Even worse was the Fender Blender. I've owned them all. lol

    • @kennywah5024
      @kennywah5024 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate all the boss pedals I've used.
      MetalCore (Dist)
      I've also demoed the DS1 and bleah.. what a tonesuck.
      DS1-X (Boring DIst)
      NS-1 Noise Gate, which was utterly useless. I want to get a really good noise gate some time, I imagine this gate is good for most people, but not every pedal is good for everyone am I right?

    • @1971SuperLead
      @1971SuperLead 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gluby, I hear you.
      I hear the Decimator is a good noise gate, but I've never tried one.
      As for overdrives, I can't beat the Tubescreamer platform. I play in a classic rock cover band, and the Tubescreamer is the overdrive that sounds the best in the mix.

      TC electronics makes one that sounds awesome. Has three frequency bands that separately open and close. Now low end hum when playing high notes. sounds excessive but I'd imagine it's better then the NS-2** I meant the NS-2 before.

    The best demos so far on YT 4 FX pedals ...amazing pristine crystal-clear sound...

    Everything in its right place! Having a GAS attack over that reverb. Nicely done, as always, Mike.

    Another fine demo Mike. Do you know if this is true stereo, or does it sum to mono to process the reverb? In other words, do you get spillover from stereo inputs on the reverb.

    I want to love this pedal, but it's just too dark.... tried it in a shop and it was really dark compared to the blue sky and other reverbs.... Get's muddy. A real shame too.

    • @rjw7032
      @rjw7032 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hmmm. Wondering if someone turned on the Cab emulation on the Reverb. Easy enough to do and will darken the sound a lot. Nothing there past 5kHz with the cab emulation on.
      If you demo this pedal in a store where other hands may have been involved, do a reset on the pedal to get back to factory defaults. Same goes with any of the Strymon pedals.
      I have the Blue Sky and the Flint but just picked up the Reverb a few weeks ago and it finally knocked the Blue Sky off the board in about the same pedalboard footprint after tweaking the presets to my liking. The Reverb sounds more natural to my ears. Just downloaded the latest patch last night and yet another cool reverb was added and a couple others tweaked. That in itself is very cool.
      I am not finding it muddy through a Fender Twin, Suhr sl67, Laney IRT-120 or my Traynor amps (several stock and modded YBA1's, YGL-3 and a super hot modded YGL-3 flame burner).
      Sounds good with overdrives, fuzz and distortion pedals. Reverb just sits nicely in there as a good last-pedal-in-the-chain.
