    Awesome video and thanks for using a nice camera/phone camera. The picture is crystal clear and its one of the few videos that does justice to this piece of art. Wear it in good health!

      +bornofosiriss Thanks for commenting, your feedback is much appreciated! Please keep in mind, these aren't my watches. (I wear a plastic Swatch and a vintage Omega from 1954) which I've also reviewed on my channel :)
      Hope you have a great day!

    I bought my first Rolex a month ago and will say that the quality and workmanship is like nothing I have ever had or experienced. This classic looks and makes you feel good when you wear it.

      +James Pirih Rolex definitely makes high quality pieces so I can imagine that. Thank you for commenting, and enjoy your new watch. You might like my other watch reviews on my channel.

    Rolex Submeriner is also my favorite time piece. It's copied by so many brands yet the original still has its charm.

      +Hamza Khawaja Thanks for commenting. This isn't my favourite timepiece but it is a great one. Very true, I think this piece has inspired the most number of copy cats in the industry. Thoughts on my Lange 1 watch review?

  • @lennart8426

    Everything you have said about why people buy a Rolex reflect my thoughts about this topic. It's very sad, that people buy it just to show off their wealth. I am happy to see that other people appreciate these watches for their (almost) perfection and not just status.
    Before I bought my first Rolex I studied all the watches, their history and the way they are working. I watched videos on how to build the movement just to understand, why a watch can cost that amount of money and I think everyone who thinks about buying a Rolex should do this. Very good review and a very well said statement.

      Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. I believe the watch industry is very divided in terms of customers and their intent of purchasing a watch. Maybe that would make for an interesting separate video? :)

    An eloquent presentation. I agree with your opinions because I have worn various Submariner Date models since March 1975 without becoming bored. Its design has encouraged me to form a collection comprising derivatives such as the Sea-Dweller, Deepsea, the two steel GMT models and the Explorer II.

    Iconic! For better or for worse, it is both luxurious and practical in that you can take it from the warehouse workshop to an intimate dinner with clients. A bargain buy in the luxury watches game in my opinion.

    Fantastic review indeed!
    In my opinion the ceramic Sub it's the perfect everyday watch. Perhaps also the perfect single piece collection watch. As you said, it looks good in every occasion and it can survive in pretty much all the situations.
    Yes, it's expensive but it lasts you a lifetime!
    Again, excellent video.
    Regards,
    Michele.

      +Michele Calò Hi Michele, thank you very much for your comment, I l appreciate it a lot! Indeed, this sub is one of those rare pieces that can almost complete an entire collection by itself.

    • @rnunez70681
      @rnunez70681 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Erik Ternsjö I agree. This watch and the Rolex polar Explorer II (not the new 42mm, the previous model) are probably the only watches in the world with a complete range of versatility. from the beach to the night club to the board room and heck maybe even to the opera. I don't like the ceramic bezel because it looks more glossy and dressy that the mate tool look of the steel bezel, which I have. I have had 2 subs and I'm now thinking of getting the Explorer. The white dial and clean bezel and slimmer case may even be a better every day watch. We'll see.

    • @ternsjo
      @ternsjo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for contributing to the conversation! Well said with the versatility. It's definitely rare to be able to say that about other watches of the same caliber. I'll try to review the Rolex polar Explorer II that you mentioned because i am not too familiar with it. Design wise, I prefer the Submariner, but we'll see when I get my hands on one. Have a good day :)

      +Michael O'Connell Hi, thanks for commenting. I haven't spent enough time with the Tudor watch to compare them; however, that is a video I would very much like to work on. I really like the Tudor watch and would like to review it. I'll see what I can do :)
      Regarding design, from a quick point of view, I really like the Tudor and prefer the multiple straps available.

      Honestly if you could only have one Rolex, this would be a good choice. However I prefer the classic no date submariner. Besides, if you need a date function then get a datejust 36 or 41mm because that watch is more versatile

    • @ternsjo

    Totally agree with your comments! I prefer the GMT over the sub. Sub is essentially a time (plus date) watch since no one really dives with it. Most buy a sub due to its ubiquity therefore to maximise recognition from others. Very sad indeed

    I like this video review. I'm a person who in the last year has been considering the purchase of a Rolex. I've looked at the GMT, closely examined the Datejust 41 and SS version in 36mm. And I've looked at several models of the Submariner. Do I go for a "no date" or perhaps a two-tone model? Or should I settle for the 116610LN that you've highlighted in this video? This is no easy decision for me. It's a lot of money. The entire exercise is beginning to wear me down. Just thought I'd make comment.

    • @ternsjo
      @ternsjo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts. Your questions are good but impossible for me to answer as they involve a lot of personal opinion and design preference. My recommendation is to try the watches you're thinking about in shop and then think about it some more, and then go for the one that you feel most comfortable with and the one that seems better value for money. Or, you can just skip the watch all together :)

    There's no denying the superb quality and craftsmanship of these watches.The design is so good that there is very little to change from year to year. It's expensive yes, but it's fantastic and a true icon of modern watchmaking. As for the whole money but no brain crowd who like to show off,well don't they generally gravitate towards the best? Pathetic but true......

    Awesome review, to be honest i think people buy Rolex for the status as well, doesnt matter if they want to admit or not. Ofcourse the quality is a plus. Buying a $300 Kate Spade bag is by quality good enough in comparison to a $80,000 Hermes, which ofcourse are superior in quality. But the difference in quality does not equate the price difference. Same as rolex sub ($8000)in comparison to a seiko sumo($400). I own and love both of them.

    It's pronounced, "Submarine-er," not "sub-mariner." A submariner (first pronunciation) works underwater, whereas a sub-mariner (not a real word) would be something less than a mariner. Please see the authorized Rolex add to hear the proper pronunciation.
