I wouldn't mind seeing this again, but from a more top down viewing angle. So the lines and angles are more visible.

Learning to layout and drill your own stuff is awesome. Also lets you see how much your bad shot making isn't your PSO's fault 😂

Drill angle is incorrectly stated. Larger the number, MB will be closer to the thumb. Lower the number, closer to VAL.

Good vid Luis. Good explanation. Overall good stuff. I'd like more content like this and see the ball rolled down the lane, to see its reaction.

I learned all the layout systems a few years ago, and now I layout and drill my own equipment at home. I highly encourage anyone who is serious about getting better to learn at least one system, especially younger bowlers. Offer to help out in the pro shop cleaning up an doing what’s needed, in return for some free lessons on basic layouts, ball maintenance and maybe even drilling.

Great video as always. Now, obviously you have a lot more experience than I do. Did you say depending on the video the matter if it was from a few years ago or today that your labs are kind of different for all your symmetrical balls versus your asymmetrical balls and even versus let’s say your urethane balls for different reasons? What do you like better traditional layout numbers or VLS I still do not understand all of them, even though I watched videos about it, it’s fascinating. I love learning this it’s gonna take me a lot more time to really sink it if there’s a simple way for me to understand it better that be great otherwise yes I do want more of these videos. Like at drill this ball do another one let’s say maybe doing it the cos way simply with another ball or change of the layout entirely for whatever the heck you choose. What’s next for the channel? Will it be a comparison a drill or a new ball review?

I have a zero gravity that I have with the pin above my middle finger and the mb next to my thumb and it is the same that was on my dad's old zero gravity that I got from him and used it all the time till it broke . But it reacts like a pin down ball from what I am seeing it clears the from like a pin down ball but has the whipping motion when it comes around the corner like my hyroad x does but as a asymmetric. I am on my second zero gravity and once I get my pap found I will see what the numbers are . And I personally would like to see more of the education video's you do a great job at explaining the numbers and the motions and it way easy to understand.

For me when I watch the storm vector layout system I use the paddlock the bowling app i put in the conversion part of the app and it translated to duel angle layout numbers

What is the significance of the angles totalling 100-120?

Serious comment, this is a very good presentation. But I think the majority of bowlers who just bowl league and who just want to average 200+ as a goal shouldn't really worry about layouts. They need to worry more about developing a strong grasp of the basics before even worrying about layouts.
I always get a laugh when I see 175ish average bowlers obsess about layouts when they struggle to cover even the easiest of spares.

It is helpful. Thanks for the demo. But, I would have liked some closeups to see the yellow lines on the yellow areas of the ball.

I use the 2LS layout system once I get it all measured out, and then I place a piece of tape where the holes are going to be drilled and make it easier for the pro shop operator.

Dumb it down a little more, use a dark ball to show marks, more prepared with less noise

Really great video Lou. Very informative. I would like to see more of these videos. Dual angle has its historical roots in the work of Denny and Lew Marquez. Mo combined, refined the concepts and developed the system as we have it today. In my experience layouts are much more important than surface for ball shape. All surface can do is make a ball read the lane earlier or later, but surface will not "shape" the ball's movement through the lane. Layouts are the key to taking a simple sphere and creating imbalance in it so that it does different things through the lane. Even balls that have no core can be laid out in a way to make them have different shapes, something surface alone cannot do.

I’ve been laying out my own bowling balls for a while now, but it’s good to have things explained in better detail than how I understood it initially.

Sorry to say Luis, you got a few things wrong here. In asymmetrical balls, 3⅜ is not max flare. That only applies to Symmetric balls, and even then only UNdrilled symmetric balls, as drilling holes will shift the low rg away from the holes.
Additionally, you got the drilling angle backwards, smaller numbers get the MB to your VAL. Larger numbers put the MB in the thumb. Usually 70 degrees + 10% for every half inch horizontal of your pap measurement.
Additionally your angle sums are typically based on total hook desired, and dictated by your speed to rev rate balance. And then the ratios of angles are designed to match your tilt to axis rotation variables.

Yeah, really good video. I am very uninformed about layouts and how they are determined, so thank you. I do agree with @liquidrock2u, it was hard to see the lines. Again, thanks Luis!👍👊✌🖖
