    There's a lot of videos out there about finding your PAP with no tools, but that never quite worked for me. I decided to splurge recently and bought an armadillo, and was shocked by how quick and easy it made it!

      WAY easier with the tools! Like I mentioned in the video you local shop should let you borrow it!

    Good video choice. So many people drill balls without doing this

    I have my own Pro-Sect and Armadillo! My PAP is 3" over by 3/4" up.

    Can I use my spare ball to do this? Flare is very low, so I figure it would be easier?

    This is one reason why I like your ball reviews; your PAP is very similar to mine. I'm curious what your pin down layout measurement is because as a fellow high tracking player, it likes to roll over the thumb hole with the pin down.

    I haven't checked mine in several years and I have had some coaching to work on my release, so I should re calculate that. However, my PAP was close to yours at 5 9/16 and 3/4 up.

    Very interesting. Just had pap done last year for first time that I can remember. All of the years I never had it done because never knew what it meant nor Pso ever did it. Current Pso did do it late last year. Just had a new ball drilled and he used the new drilling system that storm has developed and only thrown ball in league once and had six splits in game and half so hit it with 4000 pad to some surface on it but yet to throw it on house shot. It was the sublime. Hopefully this will help as I don’t have the speed or revs to control the shot

    Our PAPs are almost identical lol, mines 5 ⅞ over and ½ up. Ill start watching your ball motion even closer now to see if these balls will fit my game. 2 handed style might he different, but it gives me a closer look at what to expect

    Love these types of vids. Would love to see a comparison of very short val angles vs very long val angles. 5 degrees vs something more normal.

    Luis loved the video I really appreciate these types of videos they help more then anything else. Hopefully more pro shop owners watch and make sure they are doing this for their player ( not just the ones asking about it). One quick question. When you were measuring your span was it from the bridge (center) of the fingers to the cut of thumb? If you are using an interchangeable thumb do you measure with it out or in.
    Thanks
    John

    Hi Louis. Appreciate the video. You always are very “real” and fun to watch. I would like to see if your PAP stays the same on something you throw straighter up the lanes like a urethane ball vs. something you throw from further left on the lane such as the Attention Star.

    • @LuisNapoles
      @LuisNapoles  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yup stays the same! As long as I’m releasing it the same

    Luis how are you? I saw other guys do videos like this. This is my first time seeing you do this. I am terrible at math so that would not help me question for you, though I got my first two bowling balls drilled at my local Pro shop great guy, a former PBA bowler named Frankie Maye. He wrote the stuff down both of my balls, the IQ tour solid, and the phase II our drill pin up but I was never given my exact measurements. Is there anything I can do about that? I’m still developing as a bowler for me my downfall is execution besides that my game is slowly but surely getting better.

    I came across a video for PAPs for 2 handers and thumbless bowlers, and it's says that those frequently have their PAP changed through every shot. However, my 2ls PAP is 5¼ and 1¾ Up.

    Cool video Luis! Question: Is knowing your PAP more important when laying out an asymm ball as compared to laying one out with a symm core?

  • @christopherkulig
    @christopherkulig 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    How accurate does someone need to be with finding their PAP? I’ve had it measured 2x at 4 5/8R, 11/16 up and also 4 1/2R, 3/4 up.

  • @austincauthen564
    @austincauthen564 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Luis, so what would happen to the bowling ball if a pro shop operator didn’t know what your PaP, how would it roll

    • @ripvanrevs
      @ripvanrevs 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Here is my example. My pap is 6 3/4 over by 1 1/16 down. The first shop just guessed and put the pin over my middle finger which was a 6 inch pin. That was making my ball not flair much, go very long, and flip over at the end of the pattern. When drilled correctly with a shorter pin to pap, the ball flared more and would hook sooner reading the mid lane making it more controllable.

    • @austincauthen564
      @austincauthen564 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ripvanrevs thank you for the reply, now I understand why Luis said that it just will not work.

    Here is my simple method to find your true PAP:
    To find your true PAP correctly for any bowling style, you need a "neutral ball" without a core.
    'Never' use a ball with a core as the properties of the core can move your PAP from its neutral location.
    I have seen my PAP move as much as 1 1/2" when using a ball with a core.
    So grab your spare ball if it has a label layout with CG in palm center, or a house ball that fits with CG dead center in palm.
    Warm up with the ball until you are releasing it very well with it coming off your hand cleanly.
    Now take the neutral ball and clean it off with ball cleaner so it is totally dry.
    Make a perfect release with it. It does not matter what the ball does down lane, only that you release it perfectly.
    When the ball comes back it will have a defined oil line on it.
    Don't wipe that!
    Place the ball on the end (back) of the ball return.
    Rotate the ball until the oil line is perfectly vertical 12 and 6 o'clock.
    Next, put any ball to the right of this ball.
    Let that ball touch the right side of your ball with the oil line.
    The point where the other ball touches your ball is your pap.
    Mark that touching point with white tape.
    Now throw a few shots and make sure that tape stays still and does not rotate as your ball does down the lane.
    Move the tape around as needed until it stays perfectly still on good releases.
    Now you have your neutral PAP location.
    Have you PSO measure it and give you the numbers.

    You said your PAP is very important but the pro shop tech told me it’s 10% useful. The surface of the ball is more important than that. I’m very confused. I never have my PAP measured. My friend did and he told me it’s so so. If it is that important, than why people always have different layout. I understand that different layout will make the ball react differently. Tell me what I should tell/ask my pro shop tech. ✌🏼

      You don’t do that every shot right? You have a baseline of how you throw the ball
