I love your videos! I'm retired from Costco working there for over 26 years. It's good that you put comments in the comment box (usually found at the front of the store as you are leaving). They love to hear from their members and you help to educate them on what people want. Have your friends fill them out too, the more the better. Just remember that they have to find a good supplier and there has to be a good demand. Also you can ask at the Membership desk if they are just out of something and waiting for the shipment or if it is seasonal. The grass fed burgers have been a regular item at our store.
Thank u for educating us! I am a chef and grocery prices are ridiculous! It's hard not to gravitate toward more affordable meats and seafood. In culinary school I learned that it is important to know where your meats come from. How animals/seafood are handled or raised and etc. This video was awesome because I am about to make a Costco run for meats and seafood this weekend! You are the best! Thanks FlavCity! Been following u since the beginning 👩🏾🍳💯❤️
@@feistygrandma2636or a lot of things yeah. But meat is one of those things that you can actually taste the difference in quality of how they were handled/raised.
@@Giraffe27 yes I agree Elizabeth, and I still say pork is Good eats it tastes way better than beef it used to be less expensive than beef but now it's more expensive, well everything is expensive nowadays they just got greedier and greedier and greedier period.
Morgan Spurlock did a great video documentary on chicken farmers, he created his own chicken farm and contacted the USDA to get approved to sell. He was able to add things such as "free range chickens"...which is just opening a door with a fence to allow them "access" to outside, though none went out. "No antibiotics"...well that's already illegal. In total he added about 6 or 7 "feel good" labels but in actually they really meant nothing or had no effect as all chickens are raised the same.
I live in Seattle in Washington State. 90% of the Alaskan fishing fleet harbors here in the off season. Never, ever consume farm raised fish. The practice is very harmful to the environment. The fish get lice from each other. The meat is mushy because the fish are stuck in small pens. And the food pellets they feed them have dye in them to give the salmon meat a red color because the food they are eating is not natural. The red color in salmon comes from the food they consume in the ocean.
This dude is also way over indexing on non-GMO feed, and foods labeled organic. Not sure who this guy is but he doesn't sound very credible from this video.
Great point about blade tenderized, thanks! This is also why burgers sketch me out when they're not cooked through since ground beef is a mixture of exposed meat, and not a solid unpierced hunk of meat.
@@lovesandwich8783 Yeah, whenever I cook burgers at home to well done they're always absurdly juicy (maybe because I eat them quickly?). But if I order well done from a restaurant they're always the dry hockey pucks everyone talks about. I've never understood why there's such a stark difference.
1:50 if you like your salmon criminally over cooked like I do (practically white throughout), then it’s perfectly fine to freeze previously frozen stuff. Defrost it for 6-8hrs at least, in the fridge, just straight up in the packet you froze it in (whole package or if you individually sealed it). Tastes just fine and the texture is fine
This was SO helpful. Thank you so much for posting. I've noticed that my family and I are already making good choices. Honestly, I thought I ate pretty healthy until I got my cancer diagnosis last spring. After treatment, My doctor said that the major thing I could do is Change things in my diet. I wasn't eating organic because it is more expensive. But ever since we got our Costco membership, we've been in food heaven. The savings has been great. But the most important thing is that it's made it SO much easier for us to buy Organic and actually stick to it. I love these videos and am about to search for more.
In British Columbia , Canada, we have two residential pods of Orcas. They live and travel up and down the coast. After some Norwegian fishfarm companies got permission to set up open net salmon farms scientists who track these pods started to notice that when a pod went to travel past these areas, they would veer off to get as far away from them as possible to get past them. So if the water around these nets is so toxic , I'm going to take the advise of the orcas and stay away. These fish farms pollute the water the same as a factory farmer pollutes the land. The Canadian government has withdrawn the licenses and they have to be completely gone by 2022. We are ecstatic.

This may be a little late and I didn't read through all of the comments so it might have been said but, I believe that the "Salmon" from Chile that you showed in this video in costco, it's actually a variety of Trout. "Steelhead Trout" looks very similar to Salmon and has a close-ish flavor profile (if you're pretty forgiving like most). I have seen and heard of it being used as a cheaper substitute for real Salmon and many stores don't try to educate people otherwise. Please feel free to verify as I am going on a memory from a long time ago. Thank you for this informative video by the way, I do appreciate the information and the help to shop smarter.
Some of this was very interesting! But bruh... Put the stuff back the way you found it instead of just throwing it back all wonky. So annoying, staff has to follow up behind you and straighten it up.
Yep, lazy and you see it all the time. The same folks who just shove their cart anywhere in the parking lot when they are done. Is it really that hard to put stuff back?!
Hey as a meatcutter put your packages back the way they were in the case it’s annoying when we have to go behind a customer and straighten the case because they just threw it back in however. I like your videos though.
LOL! it's more than just meats that folk do that - I'm OCD and forever straightening products on the shelves so much they asked if I wanted to work at my store - no thank you, retired! :)
I buy the wild Costco salmon A LOT and almost always re-freeze after trimming, portioning and vacuum sealing. I have not noticed any texture difference vs eating immediately.
@@leeratliff7588 I religiously only got to Costco sometimes for that pre packed sockeye salmon in the frozen section. The bag is now $39.99 but health is wealth
12:37. I went to my local Costco after watching this video, and the had the 100% Grass Fed Burgers. Package of 15 for $19.99. Normally I wouldn't buy frozen pre formed burgers, but! I was pleasantly surprised. They are delicious = Thanks.
Regarding scallops and shrimp. Most often they are full of sodium tripolyphosphate (STP or STPP), which is a salt that adheres itself to the cells causing them to retain water. It's used by the food industry to add weight to the food for more profit. It cannot be washed out, and can only be removed by heating, hence the white glue-like ooze that comes out of seafood when cooked. It's hard to find seafood without STP. I've checked Costo's shrimp and it's on the label. Check the unpeeled, as they sometimes don't have it but the peeled will most often. Also, scallops are known as "wet" (with STPP) or "Dry" (without STPP)...so obviously dry is best and will sear in a pan instead of steam.
Of note about "organic" chicken. The term "organic" being owned by the US government is subject to changes and revisions. Organic chicken feed is allowed to have non-organic/synthetic protein in it. Specifically methionine, which is a major factor in poultry feed. The word "organic" is a political term with it's definition being a constant moving target. There is little integrity in it.
You are absolutely correct most of this idiots videos are full of inaccurate misleading information. Only uneducated internet users would believe his garbage without verifying it.
Great video and I agree with everything you said. I already knew all this information about meat/seafood but I’m so glad your getting the information out there for people who have no idea about meat practices, feed, and what’s added. I hope Costco will continue to provider it’s savvy shoppers higher quality meat options and more organic. Paying a premium for a membership should come with better options. As a Physician Assistant who’s done a lot of research on nutrition and holistic health, I just want to say spot on and good job explaining all of this. And one more thing, most people buy the rotisserie chicken because they leave exhausted and hungry and it’s a quick fast option for many. I don’t like the idea of getting non-organic poultry. Suggestion for Costco: prepare some organic rotisserie chicken for higher $$ and let people chose. I would pay more for an organic rotisserie chicken already cooked. Great content! Keep informing people and hopefully one day we can ban Glyphosate/Monsanto/Roundup/GMO and all practices creating TOXIC FOOD.
Norwegian farm raised Salmon has had really bad press about toxic chemical, antibiotics used etc. I do not know if they have cleaned their act up but I would be wary. I’m living in Uk and Costco stopped buying Scottish salmon and went for Norwegian, presumably because of cost. I only buy Scottish (from researched farms) or wild caught.
Laith A You’re absolutely right. Norwegian salmon farmers have been caught-out with highly toxic water conditions. The government is actively trying to cover it up. Stick to your Scottish salmon and I’ll stick to my NZ salmon here down under.
@@shellylarue9661 yes hope so. I think Bobby is thinking this is the better option regarding imported salmon to the US but Norway has some shocking practice. A quick Google will show...
Regarding the roast chicken, what really impressed me is that your previous video showed that they put a lot of hormones and antibiotics to lower the cost. Since then, I never buy that chicken again. And since then, they start to put "No added hormones" signal there, lol. That video was also the first video taught me to read the ingredients. Thank you Bobby.
Every time I read an article from those health food fruitcakes, I laugh. At 73, I've eaten many a cows, pigs, chickens(not my fav), seafood throughout the world and am still as healthy as can be. I remember a health food nut Euell Gibbons in the early 60's appearing in ads eating healthy food like grape nuts and pine nuts. He died at 64 and looked more like 90. I have no problem with corn fed or grain fed beef, so long as not animal by-products. This Non-GMO bull shit is for the birds-literally. Many plant cross pollinate naturally by wind or other means. It's been going on through millennial. Now all of a sudden it's bad for you. Rice was engineered to harvest quicker to feed the hunger. I guest it's better to let people be safe but starved to death. People sits in ivory tower have the luxury to pick and choose. People in Africa starving don't give a shit about a cow is grass fed, corn fed, or grain fed. They are just happy to have meat or engineered corn. I would you rather die at 80 with some kind of disease then starved to death at 15.
Just watched your video ,regarding the organic poultry products from Costco . I've noticed the yield raw to cooked is quite extensive . Back in the eighties a technique was developed where poultry in its portioned form is put in a machine called a tumbler and this product is put through the rigors of a kind term called massaging which results in mechanical tenderizing. The process stretches the fibers of the poultry. The benefit to the producer is that when water is added it retains a volume and since water is inexpensive and heavy it a great way to add weight and increase margin. The loss to the consumer is the edible yield. It's a common cheat practise in the food industry. You need to look into this.
Lamb is an amazing deal at costco. And I love the 4.99 chickens. Otherwise I think the meats are pretty overpriced and not particularly tender, even with the blade tenderization. And I agree, blade tenderizing steaks is a terrible idea. Fred Meyer is usually a very good price for their meat The interesting thing about costco ground beef is that it expires the next day. It's all the beef that will expire tomorrow tossed in the grinder with some extra fat. That means your burger could be prime rib or tenderloin. It's also incredibly lean. You do have to be able to use it very quickly or freeze it that day though.
Bobby, Costco just opened a Business Costco in my neighborhood and they have the prime meats in the whole packaging. This allows me to cut my Prime New York strip at the thickness that I like best and No tenderizing issues :) I love going to the Business Costco and they are not as crowded. At least not yet 😄👍🏼
100% frozen grass fed beef available here in Connecticut. So glad to see your reviews of Costco. Hoping some day they get organic, humanely raised pork… and organic rotisserie chickens.. getting my organic rotisserie chickens at Whole Foods about $10 each
We don’t use the tenderizer on our prime beef steaks, at-least not at the costco I work at, and we clean and sanitize the tenderizing needless, and machine every 3 hours after we start using it
I gotta say these are some phenomenal deals however I also work as butcher with Albertsons I got my self a Rib-eye Roast for 4.77 per pound plus my employees discount/deals and rewards and managed to grave myself 20$! 13 pound RIB Eye Roast for this thanksgiving!
People are just turned off because it's a bottom feeder. My family is Hungarian and we used to go carp fishing. The fish tasted fantastic, if you know how to make it. I've even had bullhead and the flesh is beautiful and tasty. People think that bottom feeders are eating poop when in fact they are eating insects, small crustaceans, etc. Same type of food as other fish.
That "Fresh Farmed Steelhead Fillet" from Chile is NOT salmon. That is why it doesn't say salmon. It is steelhead; a type of trout that behaves like salmon. A lot of people grab it up thinking its a sweet deal on salmon.
Great segment! Thanks for the info but would you mind putting back the packages in the original position? Tossing it back in the fridge makes it unappealing for shoppers who want to buy the least handled packages. Thanks!
Know that there is a HUGE difference between frozen thawed seafood! The major difference is time from processing to freezing, which presumes sub-0 degree freezing, then it's THAWED and repackaged! Unless you can buy fresh, buy the farm raised steelhead from Norway (only!)!
I read an article regarding farm-raised fish and shrimp in South-East Asia. It revealed that the fish and shrimp are overcrowded in small ponds that get very dirty, so they have to put A LOT of antibiotics in the ponds. Not good !!!
@Billy Buckles if you want North Atlantic Salmon farmed Salmon is the only way to go, it's not perfect but wild Atlantic salmon is not always readily available thanks to over fishing ... Iceland being one of the main culprits
The prices are relative to the money American's earn. I.E: Police officer's salary in NY City is $54,000/year. In Toronto,Ontario an officer will make almost$100,000/year. Yes we are taxed heavily in Canada, but we do get benefits from high taxes. Not everything is cheaper in the US.
Hi there I just wanted to let you know. I was diagnosed with cholesterol issues a few months ago. Not wanting to go on medication. I began to TH-cam dive. And came across your video about oil vegetable oil. Took your recommendation into practice. No more cholesterol issues! Thanks
Boy am I glad I went to the Tumwater WA Costco last week and picked up some of those grass fed beef patties. I love them. They still had a bunch of them. Also, I knew that the rotisserie chicken has stuff I don't need, however.....I am on a limited budget and I got about 10 meals of meat and 9 cups of bone broth from it for $5. I balance it out with mostly organic meats etc. I also got the organic eggs for instance. Most of my veggies come from local farmers who farm organically. and I get my fish from a local seafood place that carries a lot of wild fish from local waters. Not cheap though so that is where my money goes. I love Costco and am glad my son has a membership.
Up in Alberta we finish our cattle on barley and we’ve had friends from Montana swear we have the best tasting beef in the world. Thanks for listening.

Thank you Bobby for all the info on products! I love that you take all the guessing out for us. I bought your book and love that you have Paleo recipes because I try and follow a Paleo lifestyle. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
and it is expensive my COSTCO everything comes from Washington State or Alaska with some coming from Southern California. If you are going to buy seafood make sure it says Trident or Bubba on the side if it does not don't buy it it is a foreign import and it contains toxins. Trident and Bubba are american brands they are grown in American waters and farmed by trusty sailors on Wild Salmon, Wicked Tuna, Lobstermen, Shrimpen, and Deadliest Catch none of it comes from a farm. Hint if it says 10 bucks don't buy it you will be paying an import tax and it is not good for you. Buy American!
I love that you focus on environmentally responsible products. I do the same thing and sure, it costs me roughly 20% more the feed myself but it's much healthier food.
Norwegian salmon has a bad reputation for the way it is raised. Too many fish living and pooping together in tanks results in unsafe food.Do some homework.
Norwegian Salmon is not raised in tanks. They are raised in the ocean. Unless the population starts declining there is no other choice than to farm raise everything. Unless someone clearly analyzes a fish or meat product in a scientific lab and tell me exactly what's bad in it, I won't believe anything I hear from some dude you lives in a Costco.
Link that says this please. I read the Norwegian law demands salmon amount for %2.5 or less of space and the %97.5+ is water. The salmon line in open water areas where the water flows naturally. The water quality is monitored constantly
I haven’t went to Costco in years there is one somewhat close to me and I’m very picky with meat I usually buy at BJS but I want to see what meat Costco has in my area this is a great video to follow and informative I love organic
Thanks for explaining blade tenderizing! I almost bought New York strip steak and I read about blade tenderizing at Costco but had no clue what they meant. Now I know for sure why not to buy it. I lime my steak rare so that is a no go.
I live in sweden and guys you need to know that not every salmon coming form Norway is good many of them full with antibiotics we live in this area and every one know that
Oak Son that’s what I know too! I’m surprised to hear this from Bobby! The European TV channel Arte had done a long and disturbing documents about the scandalous salmon farming practices!
Link that says this please. There is a law that the salmon taking antibiotics needs to be quarantined. Salmon feed has to be antibiotic free. Unless your saying the government is corrupt and let them get away with it anyway
Your absolutely correct, this guy is misinformed. Get to know your fish monger and he will tell you the goods. I am one and sorry to say he doesn’t have all the facts
I agree with you. I have seen videos done incognito because they didn't allow anyone to film the way they farm raised salmon and the type of feed they used. I would not eat Norwegian salmon.
The quality of food is the reason why I left Walmart for Costcos 2 years ago. The executive membership at Costcos for $120/year has been far more worth it.
I worked at a grocery store just out of high school which was a million years ago and it was giving me anxiety watching him not put the items back like he found them. I remember all the time I spent fixing aisles only to discover 10 minutes later they were messed up again. It is disrespectful to the store employees who work so hard to display the items neatly. Come on Bobby, I know you can do better!
I caught a quick glimpse of the Prime ribeye steak you picked up and noticed it was missing the spinalis and then you picked up the spinalis and said it was your favorite cut of meat. The Costcos in my area (Central Valley California-Stockton, Modesto, Manteca) started removing the spinalis just from the prime ribeye (not from the Choice) about a year ago and began selling them separately at a higher price (now they are both the same price). (They use to have both the intact prime ribeye and spinalis before that but they discontinued the spinalis for awhile and later resorted to just getting the spinalis from the prime ribeyes they were selling. A disservice to prime ribeye fans who relish the spinalis part of the ribeye.) I found this to be such a conniving, deceitful, practice (when it was priced higher than the ribeye) that I stopped buying the prime ribeye altogether. Now, with the pandemic, both prime ribeyes and spinalis meat are just over the top at about $22/lbs. in my area so buying them isn't really in the best interest of my pocket book when I can get it at my local steak restaurants for about the same price and with loads of side dishes. I wonder which Costco you were at (?) because I've seen other recent Costco shopping videos that still sell the prime ribeye intact, without stealing the spinalis off of them to be sold separately. This led me to believe they were just doing it at the lesser affluent cities because the videos that showed intact ribeyes were in more influential cities.
I’ve seen the spinalis sold as a separate individual cut at Costco as well but I haven’t seen the eyes sold individually before. If it’s ribeye it’s always the entire cut in tact. I’m in Texas though so maybe they know better than to mess with a Texan’s steak. I’m also starting to see more tomahawk ribeyes as well. Last time I was in Costco these were only $15/lb for prime which is incredible. The biggest crime is the stupid blade tenderizing. No one is buying a prime steak and cooking it to 160.
I recently saw your book at my local Costco in Hazlet NJ. I haven't bought it yet because i'm not very familiar with Keto but I've recently started looking into it.
Wow, I'm Canadian and can't get over the price difference at your Costco. Prices are tripled from yours, buying prime hear is pretty rough, 3 prime strip loins are 60-90$, same with anything organic.
Was at a grocery store in Vermont some time ago and bought 8 huge pieces of delicious fried chicken for $6.99 - not like the dinky overpriced KFC pieces..... Everything is cheaper even with the exchange. 2 years ago was in Sault Set Marie Michigan and bought a 4 litre jug of milk at Wal-Mart for $1.00... And don't get me started on cheese prices...
According to this report, farm raised fish from Norway is bad because their feed includes a pesticide used as an antioxidant to prevent the fat from spoiling. th-cam.com/video/RYYf8cLUV5E/w-d-xo.html
costco moves products around their warehouse so that when you come back to the same place, the product isnt there. They do this so you have to look around more and lure you to looking a new products and buying more.
I noticed that blade tenderized at costco some time ago it is mind boggling. We buy the large whole pieces and cut trim and re-package its a good bargain
i used to do that as well but my wife doesn't eat beef. which infuriates me to no end as now i have to buy tiny roasts at the local grocer at twice the price per weight.
@@johnadamczyk6213 i work for costcos meat dept. Why do we do it. Bc it vastly improves the product. Eat a tenderized steak vs a non tenderized one and i guarntee its a night and day difference. I personally dont pay attention to that cook to 145 label. I eat steak rare and had no issue from them and not heard of members having issues either.
Perhaps you could do some of your own research to discover what standards are represented by that label ... and those farms which at least ADDRESS and Attempt a higher standard than those who do NOT even bother to address the Humane Aspect of raising animals for food. Certainly there will be glitches and 'cheaters' in any system... but the more humane treatment we INSIST ON ... that we are Aware of... the better off we all are. I have gone to some local farms who advertise *Humanely Raised* and validated their practices for myself. Yes... eating ethically does take some effort.
@@faithrada You do realize for all intensive purposes it makes no difference. Do not get me wrong not torturing the animals psychologically and morally is the right thing to do but our global population is over 7713468100. You do understand that the number goes up exponentially right? The only way you are going to see your trend continue is if we colonize mars and fast or have another World War. The amount of room to raise the food takes a lot more room to do it your way. Don't get me wrong nutrition wise etc it is much better but, in all honesty corporations and the government elect only care about money. So when you have to weigh feeding a massive population vs upsetting maybe 10% of people guess what feeding the population wins every time. Only way around this is if everyone raises their own livestock and slaughters them. So are you going to slaughter your own live stock or are you going to become too attached and go vegan so your plants can feel the pain longer as they slowly die out of the ground?
@@UberArchangel it actually does make a difference. Humanely raised animals aren't living knee deep in their own shit decreasing the risk of e.coli transmission. It's not about making the animals feel good for me, it's about the ranching practices of the producer.
Hi! Thanks for your videos! I buy the farm to family organic ground turkey at Costco too and if you look at the ingredients it also has Rosemary extract in it.
That ground beef and bison you picked was ground in some factory somewhere, was shipped and who knows how many loading docks it sat on thawing in the sun. The stuff you wouldn't buy was ground that day in the store. Never frozen They know exactly where the meat came from.
I came across this channel and enjoyed the content, thank you! But we are very annoyed when you pick up all the products, talk a bunch about them, and just THROW THEM BACK RANDOMLY to the display instead of gently placing them back the way you picked them up. This shows that you have probably never worked at retail and does not seem to be a very considerate shopper. Otherwise, interesting content! Thank you.
I agree. We have many locations in the San Diego area. It doesn’t matter which one I go to, or what time, it is always crowded! Good for them! My only gripe with Costco is their hours. Opening at 10 AM makes zero sense. I go to Sams Club every so often simply because they’re open at 7 AM and it just fits my schedule better.
How much research did you do on Norwegian farm raised salmon? From what I heard, the main toxic is not from antibiotics but actually from the feed which came from bottom feeder fish of Baltic sea, these fish are highly toxic from pollution over the year .
This video linked below talks about how toxic farmed raised salmon is from Norway, I definitely would not buy farm raised from Norway after having watched this th-cam.com/video/RYYf8cLUV5E/w-d-xo.html
Disappointed to discover blading in the meat...(I usually buy my meat at Sprouts, but have occasionally bought at Costco). HOWEVER! FYI: If you sous vide your meat, you can kill the bacteria even at lower temps like 130 for med-rare, because it's a longer length of time and will essentially pasteurize the meat.
I was laughing when he said that and the next thing should have been.... "These Turkey's were treated right before we chopped their heads off and ground them up to make this"..lol
Not only are those fillets of farmed raised salmon from Norway, the salmon in Norway also practice social distancing, so you know the fish are covid-19 compliant, this is good to know!
bobby check out a series on netflix, “Rotten”, specifically the episode on Farm Raised Atlantic Salmon. you might change your mind on Norwegian Salmon after that episode.
Why is organic everything better? Can you cite a peer reviewed study to back that up? Do you live longer or healthier switching to organic? If so, what's the cut off? If you live longer eating organic, does everything have to be organic? 90% 50% 10? to get the benefit? It doesn't make any sense to me to spend substantially more just for the sake of organic.
Exactly.. He mentions being sustainable and environmentally friendly.. Organic products use more pesticides, and don't have the same production as GMO products, which are proven safe time and time again.
I used to want to go “organic” till i worked in a produce department and currently meat department, one shouldn’t touch the other because of pesticides, preservatives, bla bla. If conventional touch organic, then is not organic anymore. Now customers and stockers touch organic fruit and then conventional, and back and forth, is almost impossible to avoid it, and lets not even talk about the insects i used to find in strawberries and romaine lettuce. Now, same for meat, the boards doesn’t get clean for transition, not mandatory for some reason, the grinding machine, EVERYTHING, is almost worthless, high price and it goes bad quicker, and labels are just labels man, treating and chicken good wont change flavor, if you feel bad about it, go vegan
After working in this industry (Ag/Feed) I'd advise you do more to visit organic versus non-organic farms and make sure when you make statements, you're getting information from personal experience and not books or articles about organic. Surprisingly, when you see "no antibiotics" on poultry packing, that's something you cannot do, whether Non-GMO or GMO, or organic.
One of the 'Salmon' products you pointed out after coming back to the seafood section was actually Steelhead. Steelhead is a species of Trout. Not salmon.
My uncle has a business in Asia, saw the farm raised shrimp up close and couldn’t stay because of the smell 🤢 he has never eaten farm raised shrimp since that day...and me neither.

Yep, LETS GO BRANDON! It's what happens when you print $6 Trillion more.
Do you eat USDA prime? Costco had some grass fed beef in the past, gone for a while..
It's so depressing to see what the prices of food were not long ago in this video compared to walking into Costco today. The good old days!

In total he added about 6 or 7 "feel good" labels but in actually they really meant nothing or had no effect as all chickens are raised the same.
th-cam.com/video/fxreqaIMtfw/w-d-xo.html
Pasture raised is best. Although 10 bucks a dozen is crazy
Yes, that’s why he says Free Range means nothing
Whoa! In Europe, Norway has a very bad reputation for farm raised fish. If health is your #1 priority, nothing beats wild-caught.
Wonderful show
That is the same perspective from France.
OK but overfishing???
Great point about blade tenderized, thanks! This is also why burgers sketch me out when they're not cooked through since ground beef is a mixture of exposed meat, and not a solid unpierced hunk of meat.
Sous vide to the rescue for that!
Jay yea same. I promise you people you can get a extremely juicy burger even if it is cooked to well done.
@@nerdcave0 because restaurants with inexperienced cooks squish patties onto the grill, pushing the juice out of the burger.
This guy must be on the Costco payroll his advice sucks

He talked about wagu burger patties. Never saw that in the three Costcos near me. Anyone else?
The W.H.O. must have invented it!
So sad
its why i dont even buy organic at regular stores anymore ..... you have to catch a farmer's markt or an amish market for the good stuff .....

Sockeye salmon now costs between $20 to $30 a pound when it's out of season. $6.99 a pound would make me very suspicious.
Fred Meyer is usually a very good price for their meat
The interesting thing about costco ground beef is that it expires the next day. It's all the beef that will expire tomorrow tossed in the grinder with some extra fat. That means your burger could be prime rib or tenderloin. It's also incredibly lean. You do have to be able to use it very quickly or freeze it that day though.
Good to know, we really like it for cheeseburgers.
Bobby, Costco just opened a Business Costco in my neighborhood and they have the prime meats in the whole packaging. This allows me to cut my Prime New York strip at the thickness that I like best and No tenderizing issues :)

Norwegian salmon has a bad reputation for the way it is raised. Too many fish living and pooping together in tanks results in unsafe food.Do some homework.

A disservice to prime ribeye fans who relish the spinalis part of the ribeye.)
I found this to be such a conniving, deceitful, practice (when it was priced higher than the ribeye) that I stopped buying the prime ribeye altogether.
Few ago weeks I was skeptical about the lamb because I didn't see grass feed however I really like the quality now I'm comfortable to buy it 😊
I recently saw your book at my local Costco in Hazlet NJ.
Agreed. We get ripped off. Same with Lowes and Home Depot. Huge mark up, over US prices.
c'mon down ... we speak Canadian ....especially here in Arizona .... VERY fluent :)
Yikes! Tripled? Wth is little Trudy doing over there?
Love this video. Very informative. I'm a frequent Costco shopper - there are two in my SoCal town - so keep em rolling
This guy is about half right on everything here.
Jimmy Rodriguez in what way?
Needs to explain why his choices better.
Half the time he is right all the time
More like always
According to this report, farm raised fish from Norway is bad because their feed includes a pesticide used as an antioxidant to prevent the fat from spoiling. th-cam.com/video/RYYf8cLUV5E/w-d-xo.html
This was fabulous. I have been reluctant to buy meat from Costco, but this was so helpful and will end up saving me money. Thank you!
Real talk
costco moves products around their warehouse so that when you come back to the same place, the product isnt there. They do this so you have to look around more and lure you to looking a new products and buying more.
I noticed that blade tenderized at costco some time ago it is mind boggling. We buy the large whole pieces and cut trim and re-package its a good bargain
i used to do that as well but my wife doesn't eat beef. which infuriates me to no end as now i have to buy tiny roasts at the local grocer at twice the price per weight.
is there any way to suggest or ask costco why they do this? There's gotta be a reason they've decided to do this. Really strange
@@johnadamczyk6213 cooking them longer with sous vide would correct that issue and you'd still be able to have rare, med-rare, etc.
Wish I had room for another dedicated freezer I would totally buy those large whole pieces myself, part them out, and vacuum seal for later.
Certified humane?
Sounds like some consumer feel good labelling and little else thing to me.
I'm a member of PETA......"people eating tasty animals."
Certified humane? Does that mean that the turkey didn’t end up dead?
I wish you guys would do a video on the SEASON sardines and mackerel canned from COSTCO. Does the canning process destroy the Omega 3 etc?
Thank you.
I noticed the vary same thing about throwing the packages back randomly. Thanks for pointing that out !
Great info....subbed especially after seeing the warmth and time you gave to the driver.😊
Thank you for making us think about what we are putting down our throats!!!! Keep up the good work!!
I haven't been to Costco for a few years. My sons has a Costco card. Costco has changed a lot and I am hoping to join Costco. Keep up the good work.
Do a new one for sams club please
YES ,PLEASE
How is your Costco empty? Ours is like always crowded and gives my wife anxiety lol
If you can go weekdays before 5pm, they're almost always empty. Most stores are.
K Vall haha. They are Costco, they open when they want. 😎
Exactly. I go during the slowest time of day and its still busy and overwhelming!
this probably wasnt filmed on a weekend. i usually go on like a tuesday or wednesday afternoon and its almost always a quick trip
He is right on about the rack of lamb. Probably the best meat I've ever had at Costco.
I don't know Bobby I think I'll just skip farmed salmon all together.
Farm raised salmon is too fatty for me. Give me sockeye!
I heard wild is often filled with worms 🤷♀️🙈
@@tracy_cakkes worms make absolutely no sense, but you should be worried of heavy metals in yohr fish and potential diseases, hence the aqua culture
I am pretty sure the steelhead is trout that looks just like salmon... hence why they dont write salmon on it!
Salroth ate a blackened trout last night at a restaurant that looked like salmon and tasted much like it, too. Surprising.
Steelhead is a type of salmon.
Steelhead is trout that has migrated to the ocean rather than staying in freshwater for its entire lifecycle.
Ok what else does this guy not really know? 🤔
Steelhead is just another name for rainbow trout
Very informative! Thanks so much! This carnivore loves Costco and you for educating!
How much research did you do on Norwegian farm raised salmon? From what I heard, the main toxic is not from antibiotics but actually from the feed which came from bottom feeder fish of Baltic sea, these fish are highly toxic from pollution over the year .
This video linked below talks about how toxic farmed raised salmon is from Norway, I definitely would not buy farm raised from Norway after having watched this
th-cam.com/video/RYYf8cLUV5E/w-d-xo.html
I agree Norwegian is bad look it up
Disappointed to discover blading in the meat...(I usually buy my meat at Sprouts, but have occasionally bought at Costco). HOWEVER! FYI: If you sous vide your meat, you can kill the bacteria even at lower temps like 130 for med-rare, because it's a longer length of time and will essentially pasteurize the meat.
You are amazing keep doing this please. You are unfolding all the dirty secrets and man so much its like dodging bullets just to eat safe!
Norwegian farmed salmon is bad for your health, I watched a documentary about it.
Yes, I saw that too!
"The Turkeys were treated right" until they weren't?
I was laughing when he said that and the next thing should have been.... "These Turkey's were treated right before we chopped their heads off and ground them up to make this"..lol
Yea we killed them nicley...sheesh
Com'on man, those turkeys only had one bad in their life.
Why should any living creature be treated poorly unless some cruel heartless asshole gets off on it?
Do you know what you call a Turkey after Thanksgiving ❓
🤔
😹
👀
😊
🥰
LUCKY‼
Thanks, I definitely would like more valuable info like this about Costco... great research!
100%
He mentioned “Rotten” in another video
Carrageenan is from seaweed. Used it to clarify beer. It's all natural maybe even organic.
Give a comparison between Costco Kirkland brand & Sam’s Club Member’s Mark common household products
Plus the whole anti GMOs thing is obnoxious since not all GMOs are bad. Hell, selective breeding is a type of gmo.
Lots of places say organic, but that DOES NOT mean non gmo as much as one thinks, same with certified humane...another lie
@@Dokumashin So true also we would be starving if it was not for GMO especially with the growth of our population
Not salmon.
I noticed that too 😂
Yeah, work in a meat/seafood dept. Popped in my head as soon as I saw it.
I was hoping you would cover the shrimp in the standing freezer section, I never know which shrimp to get
He made a video on this two weeks ago. It’s called “How to buy seafood at the grocery store.”
My uncle has a business in Asia, saw the farm raised shrimp up close and couldn’t stay because of the smell 🤢 he has never eaten farm raised shrimp since that day...and me neither.
the venison i got this season is much much better than that grass fed lamb from costco lol
Yeah but you KILLED it. Cruel !!!!!
I’ll take venison over store bought “grass fed” anything!
@@@thwwoodcraft1449 The only difference is I killed my deer, and do my own butchering, and somebody else killed and butchered your animal for you. Really !!
