for those that do not have a trader joe's or whole foods within 2 hours distance, nor have a budget that can stand $5 pasta sauce, "Simply Ragu" is a good non organic option: no sugar, 100% olive oil, no preservatives--tomato, olive oil, salt onion, carrots, garlic. $1.89.

You have certainly opened my eyes as to the sugar content with Ragu, Classic, and others. Little by little I'm going to work my way back into using only my own sauce (which I have done in the past). It was just too convenient and cheap to use the others--not realizing how bad they are.

I grew up in family where we only used homemade sauce. As I got older, I wanted to try store bought in jars to make things easier. I tried many of them, maybe 15 or so. The only one that tasted like homemade was the Victoria brand in marinara. I highly recommend that brand, especially if you are Italian and grew up eating homemade only.

I’m Greek and Italian and therefore a pasta purist. The best tasting pasta is the Organic 365 from Whole Foods. I’ve tried the Banza, not bad really, but when it comes to texture and flavor you can’t beat the good stuff from WF. I only eat pasta about twice a month, so. I’m not worried about lack of nutrition, I’m filling my sauce with veg and beans so it doesn’t matter to me.

Why did you skip the Jovial pasta? I use jovial and their ingredients are organic brown rice & water. That’s it. The texture of their pasta when cooked is fantastic even my 6 year can’t tell the difference. Also I highly recommend the Mezzetta brand pasta sauces. Clear ingredient list. Not always organic but they use premium ingredients like extra virgin olive oil. And they are sugar free.
Really like your videos Bobby. Thank you

I've always made my own sauce It takes any where from 10 mins for a simply recipe to 4 hrs for a more complex sauce. Use canned tomatoes with little or no sugar .U can make it sweet if U want use a carrot when U cook it down. And the cost is very little even using top grade canned tomatoes.
In the summer I make it fresh get any kind of tomatoes at ur local farm put them in a blender with parsley, olive oil and a peeled clove of garlic . That's it no cooking at all and it will freeze nice.

To save money eating clean i meal plan and I shop at aldi, Walmart, target and wegmans. Each store has different healthy essentials that I buy, aldi and Walmart being the cheapest but wegmans and target have essentials that I can’t find at Aldi and Walmart. .. I made a spreadsheet of what I get where and use the spreadsheet and my recipe book to create my weekly shopping list.. with this method, I spend the same amount of money eating clean with this method as I spent for shopping conventional foods solely at wegmans.
I watch Bobby’s videos and update my spreadsheet and Also update my spreadsheet while Grocery shopping as I check the ingredients lists.
Eating cleaner has become a hobby for me and my health and wellness is greatly benefiting from it. I’m also becoming a better cook and saving money from not eating out much.

Being in Chicago he has many places to shop. When you live in a small town and all you have is a small walmart without much choice as the only place to shop for groceries oh, an a small Aldi. You are really limited. Also, you have to have money to spend to buy the premium product. The advice is superior, but not everyone has transportation, or money to travel out of town to buy the good stuff. Then theirs getting your family to eat it. I think I will start with the oil, and go from there little by little.

    • @weridplusho

Cut out anything with soy = cutting out 99% of products with crap ingredients.
Olive oil that's not cut with another oil.
Not buying the Dirty Dozen - everything else is okay.
      Make most things from scratch.
These were mine before I semi-perfected my spending. Meat is always the most expensive, tho. It's just not feasible since I need to eat a lot of meat.

Pig's feet are pickled in brine so there's a potential for some probiotics then there's jellied pig's feet where the pig's feet are cooked until gelatinous. The meat is removed from the bones and added back to the gelatinous collagen then placed in a pan, refrigerated and once set, sliced. Both are old farmer favorites

Bobby is the one saying he's covering everything. I love Bobby, but that review was more of a commercial for $6 a bottle Roa's versus a GOOD look at what is on the shelves at Walmart. If that was the first video youve ever watched of Bobby's it wasnt as thorough. Its my opinion thanks.so much, so no further commentary is necessary. I complement Bobby all the time. Agreed with the other comments: RAO's is the best pasta sauce by far. I don't like Cucina Antica at all actually, bought it when it was on sale at Whole Foods to try but it's a watery pasta (tried both the tomato basil and the marinara.) Turns out, they use tomato puree. Here is their full list of ingredients: imported Italian San Marzano tomatoes, tomatoes (tomatoes, tomato puree, salt), onions, extra virgin olive oil, salt, basil, white pepper, black pepper.
The puree hidden in there, so it's a bit deceptive.

Of the legumes, such as lentils and chickpeas, only soybeans provide all nine essential amino acids. In order to obtain complete protein, another food source, such as a whole grain, must be added. That is why many cultures have dishes such as beans and rice as a fixture of their cuisines. This is particularly important for those who follow a vegan diet.

Pig feet is used in some Mexican cuisine. Pozole, guisado, or just pickled in vinegar then eaten with salsa and lime. Texture/taste is not my favorite, but as a child I grew up eating it with my grandparents in the countryside. When a pig was killed for food, every part was used someway. Just for those that were curious
