Idk if it's a school to school thing, but the only moves ik white belts are restricted from are like knee bars and heel hooks. Hell, traditionally the Gracie's wouldn't allow rolling until blue belt. Although my gym teaches everyone everything. Well....as far as standard submissions go. All the unorthodox ones are taught in either no-gi classes, leg lock classes.....or at my gyms syster location, an advanced class.

Random comment here, as an ex judo student blue belt level when I was young. I find Brazilian jujitsu very different in thr distance of approach and defence on ground fighting. To me they are fighting in the danger zone. Meaning not far away enough or not close enough to make locks no longer effective.
One day I plan to give it a go, but in judo it's all about leverage and those huge dynamic movements.
I would be levering my opponents body to get in super close for a choke or arm bar.
Looks interesting, but It looks wrong to start at that point of disadvantage.

  • @thorazine0076

Decent reach advantage for sure. That looks like a pretty easy sub to just stand up. I mean I don't think you would even have to be strong or lift weights to get out of that one. The Rampage slam on Arona requires a shit ton of strength. The positioning here, even if he grabs the leg seems pretty easy. But this is a white belt match so pretty much anything will work haha.
