I appreciate this. I am a former wrestler and wrestling coach. My biggest hurdle in BJJ is staying within myself and not being to aggressive. Purple belts and above are constantly hitting me with calm sneaky techniques like this.
He's not a wrestler. Or if he was he wasn't a very good one. His gym is probably wrestling heavy for stand up. You can tell cuz he crosses his feet in his stance. Wrestlers don't do that that's wrestling 101. He's also a little uncoordinated in his stance and a wrestler would never bring his knee to your hand. For most of us when sleeve grips bother us we pummel our hands or try to switch to a 2 on 1. He's definitely aggressive tho. Not too take anything away from you that was a showcase you put on and that triangle from the hitchhikers escape was beautiful.
These were exactly my thoughts. The gentleman was certainly not a wrestler, & he lacked technique in both wrestling (pretty much zero from what I can tell) & Jiujitsu, although he had some good defensive qualities, did extremely well to avoid the backtake (genuinely impressive) & the hitchhiker was good initiative. He also did very well to keep the energy going throughout. I was very surprised he didn’t just gas out towards the end where one is effectively giving up to a certain degree. I would guess he goes to a club that emphasises hard sparring. If he could change that approach & concentrate on attacking open guard sweeps from bottom, he’d be a difficult person to beat in a blue belt division. Obviously the guy who posted the video has very nice technique, with some nice AOJ esque passes & very sharp as you say to switch to the triangle. the only qualm, would be to perhaps working on slowing it down once the guard is passed, as moving side to side from side control is a great way to make your opponent use energy & morally give up. That’s why I don’t like to hang around in knee in belly, unless they’re really passive from there.
The tricep grip is the hero to this story. Getting those key location grips allows you to control your opponent using leverage. Nicely done with that top pressure with the grips on the legs controlling the whole match. 👏
The use of principles in competition is very well explained here, it's one thing seeing your coach doing them and drilling in the gym but laid out like this in a competition context is very helpful.
The title was misleading, it should be "how I punish", since this was a showcase (recap) of your fight and not an actual "how to" tutorial or what ever.
@@Carsahh np I wish I could pay a fair ammount. I saw the video, learned, tried some of the strategies and it worked. If you decide to sell any instructional I’d buy. Thanks a lot !

Can’t stop laughing at some of the people saying, “Why would I learn from a blue belt?”, knowing damn well this blue belt would destroy them in every way possible. TH-cam comment coaches are crazy💀
Good job in your match. I like your breakdown keep going you going to develop a good game. Your opponent was in Wrestler mode, he left so many openings. You have a similar game to mine. When I see them bounce all over the place I slow it down which frustrates them and the leave openings. Very nice job. I like the initial sweep, if I may just be a lil closer (*what I mean is, when I do that take down I grip elbow as well. But when I go I switch to their belt or back material on Gi, I feel it makes it a lil tighter and his weight is better moved under me to complete take down*). that space could’ve been countered if he knew to move his body right. God bless, see you in the black belt circle.
How much time have you put in bud? There’s been blue belts that beat black belts at a world class level. Stop being so fucking ignorant and realize that lower belts can be equally proficient by putting the time in to become good at the sport. Your arrogance and unwillingness to learn from people because of their belt rank is going to be the very reason you never reach a high level.
Dude, is the white Gi guy you? Congratulations, and my respect! Your are a genious, and very technical, dominant ... BJJ is your main skill, if you wanna have another job on your life, make it only half time job!
Why can’t he be a blue belt? smh! Kid is nice with it. No one can ever say something nice always gotta have these clowns with there negative views. You must be a spazzy a white belt, if!
@@franciscogodo What kind of blue belt feels arrogant enough to "make instructionals?" I never see anyone do that unless they're at least purple. This sandbagger isn't fooling anyone.
The range of skill at blue belt is really wide, and from what I’ve seen here and in other competition footage he’s really that - a solid blue belt. In Europe and US it’s common to get blue belt in 1.5 year and then purple after another 4 years. Where I come from you don’t get blue that easily, it’s 2.5 years at minimum and you need to be real deal. And then it goes forever to get to purple.
Yeah wasting all your energy to be quick with wrestling in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and try to use all of your aggression to take someone down will not make you improve and make you end loosing every Brazilian jiu-jitsu match it's better to stay calm and focused while doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu to win a fight.
Good Job, I always root for the guy trying to do actual Jiu Jitsu and not constantly stand up all the time. That weak wrestling stuff is just stalling and a cop out for people with weak bottom games.
takedowns are important and regretfully neglected in BJJ (I'm guilty of that as well), but futile standup struggles with both competitors just pulling and pushing eachother for minutes on end are indeed a form of stalling. if noone can get a takedown, just pull guard.
Judging by his reflexive air of authority way before his time and how impressed he is with himself, I bet Carson’s parents didn’t spank him and used an affirmational style of parenting. Just a guess.

How is this an "instructional". He is just narrating his match and telling us what he did. What is wrong with that and why are you hating?
Lol literally why

In the arm bar, is it possible to try to grab his leg to prevent him from hitch hiking?
the single leg take was super cool
Fantastic video! You did great and those were some helpful insights 👍

Nicely done. Get on top, stay on top.
Man that was impressive 👏 your opponent was legit and you absolutely showed your level of skill was higher. Good job🤘
02:29 There is a near-side armbar as a counter to your opponent's right hand collar grip.
That arm was fully extended 3 times in the fight, he take the last one
Blue belt advice???
Good job, congrats man!
Solid jiu jitsu, great technique.

Very cool. Thanks.
Love it. Thank you.
is it time for purple?
Not without a good closed guard it isnt
Felt like the arm bar was there during the baseball attempt
Blue, using his feet to break your grip standing up, was pretty cool but wasted so much energy.
Try over under, that's most draining passing technique ever and his hips are pinned by your weight.
Very nice.. your game is polishing up nicely
Awesome movement subbed.
Great video
Playing open is fine but in the gi you had a lot of opportunities to close the space and pressure him but great blue belt game you look like a purple
Tough opp! Squirrely AF!
