What a treasure, Don needs to host monthly "tractor & coffee" events so we get to see more of these 😅
It’s amazing how long a well built tractor that is cared for will last.
That’s why it’s still around today. It was built back in the day when stuff was really made good
👍👍👍
To keep us mindless consumers..keeping them rich, while we stay poor
I had one of these a while back.
It had pretty much hydraulic everything, deck lifts drive steering, ect.
If I remember correctly, they were built in Germany, but I could be wrong.
For me, I had to get rid of it, I got it a few weeks before my wife passed away and it brought back way too many memories of when we went to go get it.
The smallest V-Twin Engine ever built, that I'm aware of the 12.5-HP
In 1984, Allis-Chalmers was in a difficult position and the company was purchased by Deutz. Deutz rebranded the Allis tractors as Deutz-Allis and began importing Deutz-Fahr tractors under the Deutz-Allis name. The Simplicity-built Allis lawn and garden tractors were produced in Deutz-Allis green until Allis was sold again, forming AGCO
That’s the same the Simplicity Broadmore model. I have one with over a thousand hours on it and it still runs and cuts fantastic. One of the best mowers ever built.
Looks like a green version of the Simplicity Broadmoor from the early 90s I have. Other than the color and badges, it’s exactly the same. Still running strong.
Briggs and Stratton V twin engines runs like a swiss watch bulletproof engines. Those Deutz-allis was formed when Deutz-fahr in Germany part of KHD purchased the agriculture assets of the allis-Chalmers in 1985 Deutz-Allis was eventually sold to the Allis-Gleaner Corporation, or AGCO), in 1990.
Made before people ate tide pods and guys knew which bathroom to use. Just saying😂😂
😂Well said.
Yep That's a 1613H From 1990-93. Simplicity built them under contract to AC and when Deutz bought them they did some extra work and turned them green. Then when they became part of AGCO they switched to orange. If you want to see a beast find a Ultima 1920 that was fully optioned. Those had front, mid, and rear pto, rear three point and up to 3 hydraulic circuits. One of very few garden tractors that came with a factory front end loader option!
Simplicity made some good stuff in the past. For another to make it even better... I wish companies still had this mindset.
Totally agree. Simplicity (when they were built in Port Washington , WI) had an agreement with AC-, and then Deutz more or less bought out AC they changed the AC branded models to Deutz Allis, and eventually there was the Simplicity models that were branded AGCO. For the most part , when Simplicity was based in Port Washington they made high quality stuff. I have a 1955 Simplicity walk behind that will probably last another 60 years; much longer than me!
Looks like the Simplicity Mower I grew up with, only difference is Deutz Allis Green
Pretty sure that the date on Tractordata is not quite correct. Simplicity made mowers with that body style from 1994-02. 94 and older were Alot more square and 2003 to present are alot more rounded (and cheaper built).
I'v got a Ultima 1920, second owner, & it is a real machine, up there with the Bolens Duratracs, another real machine. Not blessed with all the options you mentioned however but it powers a 60" deck with ease.
That looks like a machine you could keep operational virtually forever. Nice!
Im from Denmark and we have Deutz tractors here. Same green colour 👍
G'day, Don! Deutz Allis were made in the mid to late 80's, after the German tractor manufacturer Deutz bought what was left of Allis Chalmers ag tractor business. Since Simplicity was building lawn & garden tractors for Allis, they started painting some of them green and calling them Deutz Allis. When Deutz got out in the early 90's, Simplicity started, and still does, selling tractors to AGCO Allis. (Deutz-Allis was itself replaced by AGCO-Allis Lawn & Garden Equipment when AGCO Corp. purchased Deutz-Allis and replaced the Deutz name) But they're all really Simplicity's in disguise. (Some Model Numbers: 1613H: 12.5hp, and 1616H: 16.0hp)
You may notice, the Deutz-Allis is a "re-badged" Simplicity, and is a fine "premium brand" tractor. They are not as popular as the predecessors -- Allis-Chalmers, but they're great machines. The 1613 looks to be the equivalent to a Simplicity 12.5 LTH. The Vanguard twin is a great engine. Starts on a dime and pulls strong. Happy mowing! Enjoy!
Cheers! ❤✌🏻🛠🚜
I have the Simplicity version. Identical to this machine. Freaking love it!
❤ I just love the way you share this stuff with us Don!! Thanks 👍
I love that lawn tractor, very well built and it is my favorite lime green color.👍👍
Looks exactly like my simplicity ,mine has a slightly bigger motor, orange paint bought it slightly used fifteen or more years ago, still going strong
The big Deutz-Allis farm tractors were great too. There's some farms around my area that still run them. Deutz-Fahr bought out Allis Chalmers in the 80's and upon doing so they offered the same model of tractor in Allis Chalmers orange or Deutz-Fahr green when they were in the process of transitioning. Deutz was trying to sell their machines here in the states so they kind of mixed their name with Allis Chalmers into Deutz-Allis to make it more appealing to US buyers.
I don't know the exact models as I'm not a farmer. But a few of them ran forced air-cooled diesels in them so you didn't have to worry about a water pump or radiator going bad. But they also required a bit more frequent cleaning of filter screens if field conditions were bad. If they weren't cleaned frequent enough they were prone to over heating, especially the farthest cylinders closest to the cab. Besides that I've heard the engines were pretty much bullet proof. But of course like with any European made machine here in the states parts are hard to get.
I would say that's the downfall to any European machines sold here in the states even today. They're expensive to fix and parts are hard to get.
Worked for a Canadian farm equipment manufacturer in the 80’s and early 90’s. The gentleman in the office beside me arranged and wholesaled several lawn and garden lines to our dealers. We would tour the farm shows together and review specs and features. Allis Chalmers was partnering with Simplicity for their lawn and garden line, although the OEM A-C products were superior in many ways. The 80’s and 90’s saw a lot of farm equipment manufacturers merge. Many short line dealers carried both Deutz and A-C tractors, or other products. Allis developed a monster of a Rotary combine that had a Deutz air cooled engine for awhile, the Gleaner N7, which flopped, possibly because chaff collected in the air cooling fins and there were some fires. As in to the ground. Visible from over the horizon. Deutz air cooled diesel tractors, while bulletproof, were becoming underpowered with unsophisticated chassis. Deutz air cooled engines appeared in Allis chassis, and they were green. Deutz- Fahr bought Allis in 1985? And then AGCO-Allis which became just AGCO bought out Deutz Fahr in 1990? But during those in between years and slightly beyond the green Deutz Allis (Simplicity) lawn and garden line appeared on many dealers lots. There’s a twin cylinder diesel engine version as well, but somehow it was the Italian Lombardini engine and not a Deutz. Which had been used on several air-seeders to power the pneumatic delivery systems. And which my co-worker was very familiar with.
Thank you so much.
I had a 16hp B&S Vanguard twin cylinder engine on my White lawn tractor back in the early 90s. It was a great engine.
That is a classic mower that you got in your shop
I have one of those deutz-Allis lawn tractors! I can confirm, they are indestructible, mine was abused before I got it and I have abused it for 10 years and it still starts every spring with no issues. I rebuilt the starter and put a new carb on it but that's all the major repairs it has needed. If you find a parts tractor I live a few hours east of you and would be interested in it.
Mike
Looks like it was well taken care of as well. Nice video!
That's a Simplicity from the 90s. Allis-Chalmers owned Simplicity. Duetz from West Germany, who is now Duetz Farr, bought Agco-Allis and at one time, was called Duetz-Allis
Looks and sounds exactly like my Simplicity. Except for the green paint!
That's a real nice tractor wow Thank you for the video
Really looks solid and well maintained. I want it lol
Sweet !
Seems Deutz of Germany bought up rights to the remaining Allis Chamers tractor company. They produced in 1985 to about 95 in green and orange . Seems they sold it off after that. In Germany .....Duetz still produces tractors, busses, big trucks, & heavy equipment.
You have a rare antique there!! Nice it was kept so well. It will probably run for another 30 years!! 😊
Great video, and thanks for sharing 👍.
Sweet, thx
Nice old machine very well made never saw one before cannot help out with any information thanks for sharing
That’s my moms actual tractor gotta love don docs out stuff so well and cheap
Back in the "70's" when I worked for Allis Chalmers agricultural line, we sold these also. They were well built machines.
I have only seen 1 other of those my neighbor had for years never had a problem with normal maintenance
Sweet mower. Solid.
That thing is an awesome machine!
I'm looking at the steering links!! Omg...makes the linkage on my craftsman and husky lawnmowers look like the casters on a beat up walmart shopping cart! Wish we could still find that kind of quality.
Same as a Simplicity but green. Been collecting the Deutz/Simplicity line for years. Deutz has the larger Ultima and Simplicity has the Sunstar. Always liked the rollers on the deck and how deep the shell is.
Yes Sunstar 20 hp w heal switch to lock differential. Pto engagement and rear pto w attached lawn vac to trailer w high sides. Exceptional tractor.
I have a simplicity 17gth-l for sale if you’re interested.
It’s basically a Simplicity Broadmoor with green paint
That beast cuts down cornstalks!
Very nice. Built by simplicity I believe.
I have had Simplicity lawn tractors and they last a long time, but parts seem to be harder to come by. I was told they produce an excellent “lawn finish” because the deck floats with the front axle. Great video🇨🇦👍
hi 👋 Don I’ve never seen a lawn tractor like this one brother it’s very rare & the customer looks to be taking great care of this machine sir that say if you maintain things the right way they will last many years & here is proof of that 😃😀
I've seen several of these in Minnesota
Several years ago my Church had a Deutz Allis mower for a few years that had the engine in the back and the mower deck out front.
I have a 1716 with a 50” mower and 16hp Vanguard that was my dad’s. He got it new in ‘91 and kept it indoors and it still looks and works great! I also have it’s Simplicity twin the “Landlord” which my dad got for parts but it just needed a little tlc and it works fine. The hand operated hydrostatic drive takes some getting used to if you are accustomed to foot pedal drive!
Nice one 👍🏻
👍👍👍 Thank you
Yep worked on them at the shop I help at. The precursor to the simplicity line.
SIMPLICITY MAKES THAT SAME EXACT TRACTOR
Very good machine. Toughest I’ve ever seen.
Omg, I think I want that tractor!
Wow, nice
Cool old lawn tractor! They haven't made quality mowers like that in many years. Todd from da Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Very good rider in its day
Those aren’t uncommon here in Michigan. There are tractor timelines that simply the timeline of the duetz allis name. I think it was some combination of a couple brands that further distilled into other brands.
I personally own a Case Ingersoll 444 that is of similar quality to this one. Love this era of equipment.
Ps… the vibrations that come from the old kohler K series on my case are what it’s all about 😎. Far out performs it’s 14hp rating in terms of torque. It’s a monster.
Yes but the case/ingersoll 200 400 3000 4000 series are not comparable for a fair test of this smaller lt. But a very good tractor
My grandpa was a farmer and owned one exactly like it. They were sold at Deutz Allis (now AGCO) Dealerships and made by Simplicity. I believe they are from the early 90's
Good Lord, that thing is sweet! Right now in the US a cheap rider is over $2K. That kind of quality would probably be $10,000+.
I’ve owned one of those before.
That is a 1996 mower and a beauty
I almost bought one just like it back in the late 1980's, but for a lack of local dealerships I decided to buy a Simplicity. I remember the handle crank for raising/lowering the deck is exactly the same on both brands. Nice video!
That is the same thing.
Deutz bought out Allis Chalmers or merged with them Decades ago. Don't break a Spindle! Very rare, very nice. Crank for gauge wheels? Well thought out and built to last. Not messed up with pedals or safety switches.
Mean ole beast 👍
I have an old Columbia tractor of 1996 with an opposed twin Briggs engine 19,5 hp. The Briggs opposed twin is also a bulletproof engine and the sound is amazing.
I have the same, even more bulletproof than vanguard, valves never need adjusting. So easy to work on too, simple, very little to fail. Just keep oil in it and go.
Great video! Awesome lawn tractor. they Realy built high quality tractors back then. i have heard that they are like tanks. love watching your videos. :)
Looks like the Smiplicity I had. Best riding tractor I had.
I Love it
Deutz allis formerly allis chalmers these tractors are great they are built from the simplcity line up and we’re different decals and paint scheme. This particular model was equivalent to the simplicity lth 12.5 lawn tractor part of the broadmoor series. Good machines biggest killer was overheating and leaking oil. This one looks very clean.
Lots of Allis Chalmers farm implements were in the fields when I was a kid in the 60s, perhaps 70s too. They wouldn't be there had the farmers not wanted them.
@@jimbohnenkamp5082 very true I love the old allis chalmers equipment we have a lot of allis products. Great classic machinery and very durable
I had a Duetz Allis snow blower from that era that was green like that. Made by Simplicity. Heavy!!!
I have an older Simplicity and nearly everything on this tractor you presented is the same. The setup of the controls are the same, location of the gas tank the same, belt routing is the same. However, mine has a Kohler Command motor.
Very interesting lawn tractor. I've heard Allis Chalmers makes big tractors and industrial machines. Deutz is a very famous German diesel engine manufacturer, supplying to all sorts including marine, renowned for being very reliable, easy to maintain and service and mostly being aircooled. Magirus-Deutz was a very well known truck and bus makes until late 70's. Later on purchased by Iveco if I'm not wrong. Also Deutz-Fahr has been producing tractors for years and popular all over the world. I'm not a big fan of tractors and farming equipment, but I've never heard of this Deutz-Allis combination.
That deck and chassis look like my simplicity 😳
Allis Chalmers and Simplicity had a long history together. Would speculate that Deutz kept the relationship going after acquiring AC.
Now that's a rideing mower built to last!! An a Hella of good engine to boot!! Built like a tank!! Unlike today's mowers good video Donnie
I'd never seen one either , thanks. My 14 year old John Deere had a single cylinder 19.5 Briggs and it's been a great motor with a hydrostatic drive .
I would have kept it. Say it was finished. Beautiful unit
Lucky owner. Had one 25 years no major service.
Deutz Fahr makes farm tractor s equipment here in America.
Excellent quality.
Nice channel 👍
Ps Deutz came from Rudolph Diesel originally.
40 years ago would make it early 80s. Back in the days when a great many things were still well built. There were problems back then too, but it seems like planned obsolescence has gone way over the top, with EVERYTHING. Which is why I like older things and always look for great stuff at flea markets, tag sales and rummage sales. Ya never know what you will find!
Nice machine. Good vid.👍
It’s about 30 years old, not 40. It’s still just a rock solid mower.
@@5roundsrapid263 Yeah. It looks to be in good shape. Nice to see some old things hanging in there, like me.😄
I asked a appliance repair man fixed my new fridge, why can’t anybody make a quality refrigerator these days they don’t exactly go to the moon. They can he replied but it would be too expensive. Guess that’s true for just about everything (like lawn tractors).
I can't say for sure, if I ever seen one. I do have a similar deck here but, it's orange and needs some TLC. Damn ! That mower came half way between lake Simcoe and Ajax. Uxbridge, Ontario to be exact.
HAPPY " Donyboy's Day!" to you my friend. TIM. ( - ;
We had the bigger ones 20 hp 50 or 52 " which also had rear pto and and a heal lever to to lock rear differential. Pto for mower engagement power steering. Grand mother had same mower that was Simplicity branded. Rear pto powered an attached grass vac to towed trailer with high sides. These were true tractors w big tires. They were a lot of money even way back
You can say this about most stuff that was built in the 80s to late 90s and early 2000s. I took home an old toro CCR2000 from 1985 model year with a Suzuki 2 stroke engine. It was sitting underneath a porch for who knows how long. All the fuel in the tank evaporated and only oil was left. I drained out the tank and carburetor and put fresh fuel into it and it started immediately after at least 6+ years of sitting. It was surging at first but then it cleared itself up. Also recently a neighbor gave me an old Homelite SX-135 Bandit trimmer from 1995. Same story with it sitting for awhile in his garage and only oil left in the tank. I drained the oil out and replaced the whole fuel system besides the carburetor and it also fired right up. They really don’t make them like they use to! It’s honestly really sad that they make everything so cheap nowadays.
Hey Don - It’s Paul from Toro - That’s a Simplicity and a great tractor. FYI, their current tractors are not much different. I think the deck is still the same with those rollers that make nice stripes and you can still get a Vanguard. ! If you must have a tractor - Simplicity is the one to get. All that said, I prefer the Toro Timecutter Z: Super simple quality build, it will last long (I think 30 years too!) and save up to half your cutting time!! Had to say that (Toro is my employer and I’m a solid Toro guy) and Z’s are truly the best cutting machines on the market! Great video!
Unitl at 298 hours the ole diahstu 950d starts knockin....like mine did
Simplicity made one just like it.
I don't know anything about it but it looks like a very reliable tractor
Looks exactly like my simplicity but a different color. Never seen any like this.
Sounds great! Was it hard to find parts for that? 👍👍
Yes it's difficult
I thought I recognised the name, partially. Deutz produced some awesome tractors back in the day (many are still used on farms in Norway today), and the Allis reminded me of Allis-Chalmers, who produced some great outdoor equipment. Just searched it now, and the Deutz-Allis came to be when Deutz bought the outdoor and agricultural products of Allis-Chalmers back in the mid 80s ❤ Back in the day when stuff was made to last!
I had a Simplicity very similar to this. It had a 50" deck though.
Cool Simplicity Landlord remake. I’ve had 2 of them here in Denmark. Never seen them as Deutz though
great machines used ones command top dollar in u.s.
my sweetheart used one at the apartments in Upper Michigan
I’ve never heard of this brand of lawn tractor before that’s a rare bird for sure
I have one and its a simplicity
My dad has a 1716h from 1991 with 16hp 50" deck only engine work was a reseal for oil leaks I did couple years ago. 1000 hours + on the clock
It's basically a Simplicity... but if you see MTD's all day long, no wonder this looks incredible. Same thing happened to me when I bought a Cub Cadet, then a few years later saw a Wheel Horse. End of story.
Looks just like my neighbor’s older simplicity. Only it’s orange not green. Have to look at it better next time
My father in law had one he used up until he passed away a year ago. It sold at there action.
