I think Walter is Niave, I live in Wales and tool theft is not a common occurrence where I live but it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Just because it isn’t happening at his car boots doesn’t mean that others in the country are not flooded with it.
Great debate however I don't think that Walter has the ability to understand that we aren't trying to shut boot sales down. We are trying to make it harder for these tool thieves to have a streamlined avenue for these tools to be sold on. It seems, unknowingly to a lot of us that boot sales have been in trouble for a little while and unfortunately they have been targeted by these people to sell their stolen goods because its an easy avenue that isn't regulated. That is a boot sale issue. Reply
If he’s so concerned about the BootSales closing down then he needs to work on fixing their act instead of arguing about it with me trying to ban it. 46000 signatures can’t be wrong.. Unregulated, unlicensed market place that’s all it has become. stolen tools, cosmetics, bikes, tobacco, contraband, counterfeit goods, tobacco, fake viagra pills, out of date food. Everything you’ll find at the boot sale and he doesn’t see it. I couldn’t be as harsh as I wanted to be on him it’s because I realised he came from a car boot that is up wales. If bootsales aren’t to blame then no one else is. I’ve seen enough that goes on there and it’s about time the GOVERNMENT and Police both see it. All we are asking is for the bootsales to work with us and clean up these criminals from using their platform. NOTHING ELSE! It helps everyone
This Welsh fella is proper clueless because he seems to have a major problem with OB and if and when he drops that grudge you might just be able to have a proper debate with him. take him to a room full of trade guys who have had their vans done. boot fairs have always been the place for dodgy gear.
I'm 16 minutes in and the welsh guy seems like a clown, the "statistic" on tradesmen supposedly ripping of the public, sure there's some bad guys out there we've all met them, but its a stereotype akin to any other kind of prejudice, and a view often formed by people who don't actually understand the cost of work (i.e. cost of tools, materials, consumables, labour, time costs outside the time spent visibly on the job, etc) and seems like quite a low blow from the welsh guy. For the record I'm undecided either way on the idea of banning tool sales at boot sales , but I certainly wouldn't have approached the debate the way he did.
I think he thinks Trades want them all banned not just the sale of tools. Either way it is crazy how big the problem is. Anything to help reduce the ease to sell them is a good thing.
@@TradeLegends yeah, probably. The point of markets vs car boots is an interesting one. One thing that certainly would make sense is banning the bulk sale of power tools. Like if you're there with a load of stuff from your house and have like 1 or 2 power tools amongst a load of other stuff fine, ( I could see this possibly being abused like people hiding them ) but the point I suppose I'm getting at is you shouldn't really have people selling as a business at a carboot unregulated no matter what they are selling.
@@jonesconrad1they aren’t regulated at all. You can sell anything there and just drive off after. brilliant isn’t it.. That’s why theives love car boots. They have their perfect clients there too. What else could they ask for.
Walter is blaming lack police intervention . I don’t think he grasps the extent of the problem. A van is broken into every 12 minutes. Most incidents go unreported so the figure is actually much higher. This is not a crime that happens all over the country. In Cornwall and Devon for example it is so rare they lump the statistics in with general theft from vehicles. So again the figures in the hot spots like London the figures are much higher and the police just can’t cope. The criminals are in and out in a very few minutes, they use false number plates and they are away. Virtually impossible to catch. How many more police does Walter think we need to recruit to get on top of this crime. How much does that cost? Even if they catch some of them. There place will be filled in no time. How much does Walter think it costs, conduct an investigation, to arrest someone, convict them and then send them to one of our already over subscribed prisons. The police have to prioritise and as a tax payer I believe it is more important for the police to focus on murder, paedophilia, rape, drug gangs, violence against women, people trafficking etc. We are talking millions if not billions to make an impact. Quick low cost solution start cutting the places they sell. Starting with Carboots. How much does that cost? Nothing! It’s a shame for the people that sell the odd tool but the harsh reality is that sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the greater good. Comments please Walter and I honestly didn’t see your request for a discussion but if you want one please go ahead and invite me again.
TBH, I couldn't help but think that Shoaib was arguing with "Uncle Bryn"... To be fair, his main concern is the longevity of Car Boot Sales, and these protests and the action TradesUnited are calling for, DO NOT threaten this. Boot Sales are not built on Tool Sales.. FFS! Fair play to him for coming on the show, and well done Team TL for going through the motions with this, as one thing for sure, this shows how "misunderstood' the whole notion is, our motives and the problems we have! Let's keep it going, and with time and momentum, we will win this! 🦾
At the risk of making a comment in an echo chamber, the idea of criminalising people selling uncontrolled goods which anyone is free to own is ludicrous. Having said that, anyone trading in stolen goods should be procecuted with the full strength of the law.
Settle in guys and girls…… this is a great debate……🙌🏼🙌🏼
Highly charged
I wonder if he'd be happy to have his car broken into 8 times and the insurance company saying they would only cover 90% of the vehicle value
Don’t think anyone would enjoy that. I think unless it happens to you people don’t get the impact.
Really good debate! Some fair points but tool theft is just getting out of hand
Absolutely wild currently. I just think people don’t understand the scale of it.

blaming the “government” for 20mph speed limit - that was introduced by the welsh labour government.

Also I would like to add that Nath did a smashing job of being the impartial party here, Bravo sir!
Haha how much did he pay you to say that🤣
He even did his hair for the occasion…😂
Yes well done Nath 👏

Seems that way doesn’t it. Boot sales definitely have an issue with stolen tools.
This guy has obviously never had his vehicle torn open followed by having his business wiped out.
Hard to explain to people how bad the problem is.

It’s a fine line to be fair, not as simple as it seems.
