saw him twice in concert, he had a aura about him that just blew you away. I am 80 now but loved him since I was a 12 year old girl in 1956 watching him on tv and my parents were not happy about it. Times were so different then and nobody understands the backlash he got for his music and his style. Parents, teachers, preachers all called it the devil's music. No to mention the guys who's girlfriends fell out over Elvis. If you want to see true history in the short documentary "Elvis Presley and the Black Community' that is eye opening what a challenge he had. You see in the segregated 50's white stations would not play black music until Elvis brought it to the forefront. Having been raised in a poor black neighborhood Elvis was an advocate for many black artist like James Brown and Jackie Wilson, Since Elvis grew up in gospel and often in black churches it was his favorite music. Thank you for your kind perspective on Elvis, you are great reactors. Be Blessed

I also go way back w-him -- began in '54 age 11 w-the 45's & the occasional TV show but I was lucky -- no one in my family saw anything wrong about it -- my mother even said "He's going to be very big one day" & I never saw it as anything sexual about it -- I understood that he was moving to the music he was feeling.

I’m 66 and saw Elvis also, Chicago Stadium June 1972, October 1976 and May 1977. But probably the best was I saw him at The Las Vegas Hilton in August 1974 during The Elvis Summer Festival. I would like to hear more of your experiences if we can connect somehow? We’re a dying breed. Take care.

What you guys probably don't realize is that it was very rare to see Elvis perform live. he did thousands of shows but he hit the same old cities over and over again because of the Colonel and tens of millions were never able to see him live. And he had only been back on tour for about 3 years when this was filmed. He was the King again and the top concert draw of the 70s

Elvis toured with an 8 or 10 man band, a male gospel group, a female vocal trio, a special high soprano female vocalist and a full 30 pc orchestra. Every show was sold out. Every tour.

The only time he had 3 female backups was after Cissy Houston left in '69 (w-Cissy it was 4) & he then hired a 4th, but I can't recall her name.

J.D Sumner is the bass singer, he is a Basso Profundo (the lowest bass).
    Ronnie Tutt was the drummer...
I think that Tina Turner would have loved his version!!!
    .
I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists:
Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley (if I could hear Elvis sing some duets with Lisa Marie to).
Would you go and watch them perform if you could, or who would you like to see and hear if you could choose anyone???

This guy changed music ...We went from "HOW MUCH IS THAT DOGGIE IN THE WINDOW " to "HOUND DOG " , went from singers who basically almost stood still in front of a microphone when they sang a song, to Elvis ROCKIN' AND ROLLIN' all over the stage . In the 1950s Elvis hit the music scene like an ATOMIC. BOMB and music has never been the same since. He didn't invent Rock and Roll, but Elvis lit the fuse that blew people away by it . He was the FIRST superstar of Rock , and has influenced nearly everybody who came after him ...Some will admit to that , and some won't , His STAR status shines almost as bright NOW nearly 50 years after his death , as it did back in the 50s . Even FONZIE called Elvis the COOLEST ! lol !
almost still in front of a microphone

Again, great reaction. Every show, every concert performance was so electric it is hard to imagine the feeling of seeing him live and in person. No other performer has ever had that effect on the audience. It was like being in Nirvana. He was even more handsome in person and the love just flowed through everyone. Spectacular!!!❤❤❤

It's a matter of opinion, of preference. You prefer Blue Hawaii, others prefer this, which I also prefer, & I just don't happen to think he was at his best in BH. But this certainly was in no way "a shame" in the least.
