elvis' birthday is coming up on january 8th he would've been 89 years old, then it'll be a year in early february since his only child, lisa marie presley passed away
@@stevenyurik2924 Remember that when people search for an Elvis tune, sometimes they don't notice that it's a reaction video. If you want them to stay longer, keep the intros shorter, don't stop the song and give your critique when it's over. Facial reactions are often just as good as verbal ones during the song.
Once a year, in Baltimore, there are two nights on a weekend in the fall there is an event called "Night of 100 Elvises" It's a huge event with 3 floors and all kinds of Elvis impersonators from a 6 yr old boy to a group of elderly woman. It's a freaking blast!! It's like 4 - 5 hours of Elvis! So much fun.
Elvis recorded over 750 songs and sold 1.5 billion records,,,Love The Channel..I seen Elvis in 1974 I was in 4th grade and My Parents took Me and My brothers to see Elvis and I have been a fan since,,,Hello from Boston Ma Luke Kelly☘
You’re so right, Guinness world records shows him with over a billion records sold worldwide. Hater and jealous sites report much lower sales. Guinness is a legit enterprise!
Baz the person that made the Elvis newest movie came across them while he was doing research for the movie and has gotten permission to release a new project using the footage. All us fans are in heaven with that news
Notice the smiles on all their faces ... the entire group enjoyed each other and their performances ... they all shared the same passion ! TCB forever !
Hate to disagree with Matt seeing as he's bringing a lot of Elvis to your channel and all but a lot of my favorite Elvis songs are from the 1970's. He may have started declining physically post-Aloha From Hawaii in 1973 but vocally, some of his best songs are from the time frame of late 1969 through 1976. As for his catalog, Elvis recorded close to 700 songs...
I like the earlier stuff better and nobody seems to react to a lot of the early rockabilly hits but I like all of it, and of course there are those Infamous last two shows within 7 weeks of him dying and he should not have been touring by any means, he was in such poor health and they had him on so many drugs for his various health conditions, and so at first I could never watch those, but now I've seen them many times and he still brings it so much. Very notable performances.😢 The 1972 version of How Great Thou Art is Stellar of course but there is something about that 1977 version that just absolutely kills me. Even though he was failing and his asthma was getting the best of him, he had become the equivalent of an opera singer, and then of course because that kind of music meant so much to him, he brought so much finesse and nuance to it that I don't see in the 1972 performance much less in the recording before that on the album. As a musician myself, I have come to see him as always exponentially progressing right up until the day he died.
Actually, Marty Lacked said that the day after the Aloha from Hawaii concert all the Memphis Mafia guys came to his room to meet up with him because they were going to take a tour of the USS Arizona which Elvis helped fund a few years prior... They knocked on the door and Linda Thompson answered and said they weren't going on the tour... The guys wanted to know why and Linda finally opened up the door and pointed out on the balcony and said he's out there... The guys went out on the balcony and Elvis was sitting down with a towel around his neck and dressed in a white polo shirt and shorts and sweating bullets... His speech was so slurred and he was obviously in no condition to do anything at that point... The guys said that their hearts sank when they saw him because they knew he went right back into the drugs again after working so hard to be off the drugs and lose weight for the concert but when the concert was done he didn't care anymore so he dove back into the drugs... the decline started the day after the Hawaiian concert when he was in the best shape of his life...
Elvis started the Aloha concert with Burning Love if I remember right. Elvis's opening and closing music was first used in the movie titled 2001 A Space Odyssey.
You're right about the lyrics aspect. He wanted to present a new song (his last major hit - #2 US, #1 Worldwide). He didn't know, so he didn't seem like he had an issue depending on these lyrics, and as you mention, not being paranoid what people would think or whether he should completely learn it first.
To me studio version is the best, but i agree, 73 is better than 72 but let's take into account that otherwise that concert from 1972 would have sounded live to us, probably much better than on video
Hey, I'm glad you mentioned his confidence about bringing lyrics. He was a perfectionist. He wanted his audience to have a good show. He did that to make sure he did it properly. He didn't give a shit what anyone thought. He wanted it right. But you are right. He had the confidence to do it that way. Love you, Merry Christmas
Well hello the wolf couple just seen you two on you tube my name is Vinny I’m from Boston I’m 61 years old been to Graceland 4 times I only listen to him since I was 15 years old I don’t know if anyone of your subscribers have told you guys to watch the video of him doing American triolgy from 1973 aloha from Hawaii but if you haven’t seen it please do I promise you that you both will get goosebumps you guys are really nice what I like about you guys is that you pay attention to the song don’t just play the video if you haven’t seen that video I will be looking forward to you guys watching it thank you Vinny I will keep watching keep up the great work
1992 ELVIS THE LOST PERFORMANCES came out, using footage from the Doc,Elvis That's The Way It Is 1970,and ELVIS ON TOUR both MGM...TTWII came out with new footage a few years ago.
I actually already subscribed to you guys because of your Elvis reactions. Special thank you to Matt! I grew up listening to him, my parents were huge fans. Elvis was my very 1st crush at 5 years old 😂 and I am still in love with him! I wish I could subscribe again. You guys are great!
The horns in the orchestra provided the opening riff that you mentioned in this video. They played it as Elvis came on stage following the theme from “2001, A Space Odyssey,” which was played with the lights dimmed. That song is actually a classical piece by Richard Strauss, “Also Sprach Zarathustra.” It had previously also been referred to as the “God Theme.” To use that song as Elvis did, contributed to the absolutely electric atmosphere at his concerts, and was something which only Elvis could have gotten away with, as it would have seemed way too over the top for any other entertainer to use. The opening horn riff was also used as the closing riff, as in this video, following his final number, which was most often ”I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You,” as he walked around on stage and then exited the stage, and never ever doing an encore. He kept the fans wanting more.
At the time of that concert, he was still tweaking the song in the recording studio and it would be several months before RCA released Burning Love as a 45RPM single.
Oh you guys, just on that brief black and white clip that it tried to switch to, I believe that is in early 1956 when he did Hound Dog on the Milton Berle variety show. And that's the thing that set everything off in terms of the racist and religious backslash, and so most people react to his appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show later that year, where it was really tamed down and lots of conditions and all that. And in fact Ed Sullivan said after watching this that he would never have a degenerate like Elvis on his show but, in the coming months, the dollar signs were just exploding around Elvis, who turned from 20 to 21 years of age, can you imagine that? and Sullivan relented and then had him on several times in a row although sometimes they filmed him from the waist up during certain sections. If you haven't seen it I hope you check it out, and make sure to get the longer version where they include the slow down halftime burlesque at the end, where Elvis surprised, which of course was no surprise he's been surprising his whole life when he's performing, he surprised the band and they'd never practiced it that way before and he wanted to extend what was already a very short television experience because the audience was just going so nuts, and he turns it into this almost striptease kind of thing.
That upbeat entrance/exit music is, I think from the song "See See Rider" which Elvis performed at the beginning of each show. I could be wrong though.
No you are correct, I'll show my Elvis neediness here but this is what he opened with each year 69-Blue Suede Shoes 70-Vegas was All Shook Up 71-72 either opened up with That's All Right or See See Rider 73-77 See See Rider Although In August opening night 74 used Big Boss Man for that show only
Elvis did not want to do this song. He felt he was too old to be “shaking his ass”. The words came hard to him and he struggled. The band pushed him to do it, he recorded it and it became as me one of his top grossing hits. You have to remember we did not have aging rock stars back then. I wonder what he would think of The Rolling Stones now! lol
Without reading other comments I think he was just smart enough to know that if he goes on stage with any kind of paper or read something like in Polk Salad, they talk about it next 100 years plus and laughed about it like joke of the century!!! I don't know of course!😂😂😂♥️🇫🇮
The man on the bass is the great Jerry Schef. I think that’s how you spell his last name. He was a very well known studio musician. He played bass for one of The Doors albums, I forget the one. I’ll see if I can find it. But, he is a great. And, Ronnie Tutt was also amazing.
It’s spelled Scheff, w/2 f’s. My favorite drummer was Ronnie Tutt! But can’t forget to mention James Burton -my favorite guitarist! Elvis could afford to pay top studio musicians to tour - and he did.
Hi Always love your video´s and reaction to Elvis clips.
