I am no chess player, not by any right. But I have watched enough of this channel now to understand that Chess is not a game of mating the king, but of being up a pawn.
Superlative analysis ! Excellent commentary. Clear, concise. Fascinating game by two great champions ! So exciting. I'm amazed by the balls of Tal: Imagine under that pressure, to make that intuitive positional knight sacrifice !? And without any real follow up? In a world championship game? So young, so gifted. So gutsy. Wow. Brilliant. Beautiful game. No wonder Bobby loved this guy--he was there on Tal's death bed. What a legacy for Tal. Breathtaking, hair-raising game. Now I can't sleep! Lol. I felt like I was literally witnessing God's work in progress. Thank you Maestro for this exposition.
When tal thinks 3 extra pawn is not enough for botvinniks piece, shows how good Bottvinnik was. And this is tals thought process as a great attacker himself. My most favourite game, not because tal won, but because he was so beautifully humble.
this is 11th time I am watching Tal Botvinic series. especially titles like ''Fall of Leningrad Dutch", "My Taxi driver is not chess enthusiastic", etc. Well Done Agad.
That moment when you're watching an old agadmator video with a very calm "hello everyone" and then you switch to a new video with a very loud "HELLO EVERYONE" with your volume on max
I would have loved to see the look on Botvinnik's face as he analysed that one and it slowly dawned on him all the many possibilities it opened for Tal, and that even a great defender like him was unlikely to be able to close out ALL of them. One of the most beautiful single moves ever.

Thank you
Tal was such a genius in regard to the timing and order of combinations. One of the greatest ever. It must've been so distressing to be sitting across the board from him. So imaginative and creative.🤔
According to Kasparov's My Great Predecessors, Volume 2, Tal took 16 minutes for 14...Rfc8. He has a few quotes from Tal as well as to what else he was thinking.
You're welcome - it's fun to follow along in a book that has a game you're covering. I can see the author's analysis as well as yours at the same time. And, as I've told Rick from Chess to Impress and Mato - I like it when you guys cover the same game - the comparing of the analysis is fun to watch.
If anyone is interested: Move 14: rf8-c8 actually took 16 mins, as Tal mentions in his book. He also just used 16mins for all previous 13 moves. So he really took his time.
This guy tal, hunts the opponent's king in every possible crazy way... Mind blowing... Even a non-chess player would love watching his game... I think, chess is in his blood...
@@recipoldinasty That's because he was not allowed by the SSR authorities to go abroad for playing more tournaments. He defeated many a GM in his prime.

Hello agadmator's Chess Channel ! Yesterday was my birthday and I asked myself: "What can I ask agadmator to say?" but then I realized that the vast knowledge of the 1959 Candidates Tournament, that you gave me, is still more than I can handle. Keep up the good work!
Over the last few months, I have become hooked on this channel and on playing chess again. There is such a wealth of games you have covered, I won't run out any time soon. Watching matches from decades ago by masters of the game and having them explained in such a rapid but explanative and engaging way always grabs and keeps the attention. Lovely stuff. Keep it up.
Thank you. I am finishing the book Checkmate by Tal's first wife. I have no idea how I ended up getting the book lol! But it is very good. I knew almost nothing about Tal and am not a chess player. I do enjoy your videos however (well... except all the "Uhhhhs" that detract so much from them lol). Thanks for posting this game, as well as the others where Tal won the world championship. I doubt I will bother with the rematch he lost. But you give an excellent description of this game. And it very much adds to the book, called "Checkmate" by his wife!

This is just THRILLING. The "inexplicable" (to the audience) move by the knight followed by the audience- and grandmaster-agitating move by the pawn. I love the fact that Tal kind of intuited these both. Chess at its most magnificent - thank you! Separately, I just re-watched the Capablanca Marshall 1918 game on this channel (another pretty breathtaking game, esp the way Capa thought on his feet) and there also is much ado about a black knight in that neck of the (woods) board.
