    :O I actually liked this more than game 6. That 'allowed the tactic by going out of his way to prevent it' bit was awesome... And watching Tal slowly convert that advantage into a win by playing super-solid moves was brilliant

    Nb1
    And resignation
    Not only returning the piece to the back rank, but also to the square from where it started the game
    (yes, i checked it, the knight that came to b1 is the one that started from there)
    "In my beginning is my end", T. S. Eliot wrote. I guess it is true here

    Regarding the question at 13:42. Why not Nf6+? Then black king moves. White can then play Ne8, blocking the Rook from stopping promotion. The Knight on d2 can easily stop promotion of the passed black pawn.

    • @charliegiles5627
      @charliegiles5627 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the king attacks the knight then so it has to move away then promotes.

    I'm just guessing but, methinks Fischer studied/learned a lot of/from Tal in aggressive/sacrificial chess strategy(ies). Would be very interesting to see a chart of how all of the modern day/major world champions fared against one another, W-L-D, career wise. I'd bet there were some P.I.T.A. matchups for many of them that would make for good stories.
