As a crazy fan of Tal, I also respect Paul Kerres a lot. He is such a great positional player. Can we have a Paul Kerres saga? That guy defeated Capablanca, you know. May be he also deserves his saga. Love and peace from Bangladesh.
Paul Keres played his last tournament, in Vancouver, Canada, in 1975. Sadly, on his way back to Tallinn, he passed away. Ever since then, the Paul Keres Memorial tournament has been held in Vancouver to mark his legacy, with the 48th edition being played this year. There are usually several GMs in attendance, and a high number of Estonian players as well.
Keres definitely a formidable player great game vs Casablanca I just finished watching inspired by this video I’m always in Awe of the legendary Great players and the history with it all tough game for Tal Thanks Agadmator
Can you make a short serial on Keres? Also a serial on Kasparov - Karpov games or only on Kasparov would be very interesting. Thanks for your wonderful coverage and analysis.
I NEED AN ANSWER -- Totally unrelated to this game. My question; Would a typical grandmaster prefer to win a game (during mid or end game scenarios), with a tactic of mate in two, or mate in three, if the mate in three included a beautiful queen sacrifice? We all know that masters hate to be seen as barbaric, and often consider their games as things of beauty. Then again, they also love winning with the least amount of moves. What does the chess world think?
Could you make an overview video of various era's? I'd love to know what the chess world was like in the early years. When did chess became a seriously internationally, how many masters and grandmasters were there? The for this first era, who were world champions or otherwise top players? Next might be subjective, but what would be a nice second, third etc era and how did the number and strength of masters grandmasters change? Who were the top players over time?
Hi, After watching this video, I again watched Tal games from 1959 candidates which you covered. At the beginning of one video Tal vs Fischer from 1959 candidates, you have shared some interesting information about stats of viewers of Agadmator channel. Contrywise viewers, age wise viewers etc. But this stats is 6 years old. Your channel has grown in multiples. What would be the stats now? Please share if easily possible Regards

Keres and Akiba should be honoured as honorary world champions😢... He was kryptonite to Tal, almost had an equal score against fischer, crushed 9 world champions. Com'on, what more do you need...

didn't find it. Spoiler alert > > > > > > > > > > Seems strange though. The move is obvious as its just another way to g3, which is the objective of the queen. Pity we don't have the times. If I had to guess from what kind of player Keres was, he went ivil mode on Tal, saw the best move but figured he could win with what he played anyway. To counterTal Tal must hurt. Or maybe he was being kind, Keres was, as chess players, it seems to me, must be inquisitive spirits. [It was scary to hear Magnus recently express boredom because he had played a position before.] So he knew the game would end much more quickly if he played said move, he loved chess too much and maybe enjoyed playing Tal, to do that.

There will be a day where we will have seen every tal game played. A sad day indeed.

Of all the matchups that we wish could have occurred, I think Morphy v Tal would have to be pretty high up on the list.
I can imagine Morphy getting significantly stronger playing against someone like Tal. Scary how much better Morphy could have been.

great commentary. i've also heard Keres was the strongest non-champion possibly with david bronstein.
MEDO IS FOREVER
Keres played the Kings Indian just to meet Tal expectations of a wild game as quoted in Keres The Quest for Perfection.
This matchup is the perfect example of the phrase: "When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object".
