I feel genuinely bad for the people who have disassociated so hard they feel personally attacked when a Disney movie isn’t liked. What a horrible existence they must lead.
You're forgetting that a lot of criticism for the movies is also directed at the people who love the slop they're being fed. So it's not just feeling personally attacked, they are being mocked for it. And they deserve it, they're dumb as shit.
I hope the big climax drama of the movie is a Chlorine guy and a Potassium guy who really want to smooch and our heroes have to prevent the gay kiss at all costs to save the city from the resulting explosion.
There's this strange mentality where "positivity should be vocal, negativity should be silent." People who follow this line of thinking end up believing that if somebody is being critical, that it's "abusive" or mean-spirited because "if you don't like it, then you shouldn't invest any time thinking about it, which is why you shouldn't talk about it." That then extends out. Suddenly, a lack of outward positivity logically (in the minds of zealous fans) represents the silent disapproval... but in the absence of any actual vocal disapproval, silent disapproval becomes the most pushback they receive, and therefore they are *still* being attacked even if you buy into the idea that negativity should be silent and therefore don't say anything. Twisting into pretzels because it was never about managing negativity, it was about framing an out-group as essentially harmful and bad.
It's the culture. People refuse to accept the good with the bad. They have this idea that they can have more good than bad or more positivity than negativity when i find going too far one way sucks. Trying to be happy an acceptive of everything all the time is honestly soul crushing, as you quickly become a hypocrite who has no real opinions and therefore fails to truly appreciate anything. And being super negative and critical all the time gets depressing and alienating. Your comment is a happy reminder to me that I'm not alone in seeing this. It's why Disney and it's fans scare me, they feel like they'd rather burn the nay sayers than break their delusions. I honestly quiet like authentic and honest opinions form people. @@voidishprattles4319 A world without bitter or sour is tasteless. To flee from negativity in any form is to accept a steady hum of unfeeling, not joy. On one hand. I agree that Pixar gets a unfair advantage with the Oscars, that's why I never respect the decitions even if a movie I liked won. On the other I feel like people overpraise movies for not being Disney/Pixar I really liked Wolfwalkers but really, I don't think it was the masterpiece everyone talked about, it was kinda of the same quality of Soul tbh
Wade is at least a semi decent name for a water dude since it isn't immediately obvious it's water related. Ember, on the other hand, is stupidly generic and obvious. Does everybody in that universe have a pun name based on what element they are? Each element would only have a couple dozen names they'd be able to choose from.
How is that not immediately obvious? That was the connection I instantly made in my head. I'm not smart or anything, and I immediately got it and thought "huh huh water joke." "Wade" is as painfully obvious as "Ember."

Just looks like "Visual gags: The movie". Something that would be a cute short before the ACTUAL Pixar movie. Not to mention the "star-crossed lovers" premise is so overdone. You can imagine every scene and joke in your head if you've seen any similar movies.
Why can't these visual gags be more subtle or funny? We get whole screen focus on some dumb blooper stuff that would be fine in the background. When WALL-E put the spork between the spoons and forks out of confusion, I at least smiled. Pixar clearly ran out of ideas before 2010.

Why not have the cloud people be propelled to different areas with giant fans, or for water people to travel via waterslides or hoses or something? The whole _these two are different but will they work out_ love story plots aren't terrible, but will this film _wow_ audiences or give them something they've never seen before in a hundred other things? Even the style looks boring, just because we've been exposed to it too many times in _Inside Out_ and _Soul._ The world doesn't have a firm identity: it just feels like _modern Disney Pixar urban fantasy city 03._ It feels weird that this is the same company that made Ratatouille, which I personally think is the best Pixar film of them all.
I like Incredibles the most, cause its probably the best of them that doesnt reuse the " what if X thing was people" idea that almost every pixar movie integrates to some degree.
I think the first teaser trailer for Monsters Inc was better in terms of lore and world building than the first teaser trailer for Elemental. It could turn around and the actual film could be amazing, but Element City is still the laziest name they could have could up with.
As a lifelong videogame enjoyer, I've seen both sides of the "QUIT HAVING FUN!"-discourse more times than I can count. Either someone thinks you're objectively a terrible human being for enjoying something they didn't, or they think you're actively trying to ruin their life by not enjoying something they liked. The internet did something weird to the concept of opinions. It's like we need everything to be streamlined now. Either something is the best thing ever or the worst thing ever; you don't get to have a subjective opinion of it. Oh, and the whole "Shut up and let people enjoy things!"-things is one of the worst and most toxic manifestations of manufactured positivity and fake optimism there is. If you cannot enjoy something unless the world is expunged of anyone's critical opinion of it, you are a literal baby, and you need to grow up and build the confidence to stand by your own opinions and preferences without constantly needing the rest of the world to reaffirm your beliefs in order to feel valid. I enjoy criticizing stuff I don't like. In fact, it's even part of my job. Why shouldn't I be allowed to enjoy that? Shut up and let me enjoy not enjoying the stuff you like.
I think to be fair, this isn't an internet thing: it's a human thing. Just the internet has made it worse. Not sure about the whole " shut up and let people enjoy things" thing either, but I don't think I've ever seen it as meaning for zero criticism or negative takes on something. Mostly I've seen it used to address people who excessively go out of their way to be shitty towards people because they are enjoying something that a person didn't like, or is objectively not great.
@@reddawnstudios2016 Honestly, the only times I've ever seen anyone use "Let people enjoy things!" as an argument is when something they enjoy is criticized. There have been pushed to "end negativity" and that sort of thing. To try and make it against ToS to make critical content on TH-cam or whatever. It's obnoxious and asinine. People will actively seek out negative buzz about things they like and then be upset when they find it. And then claim that other people not enjoying the thing they like is somehow ruining their experience, because their emotions have to be universally applicable to be valid or something. I get it. I like a lot of trash media too. I just don't depend on the validation of others in order for my enjoyment to feel justified.
Yeah, I’ve been on the negative side of that argument somewhat with video games and it’s the worst but if it weren’t for the toxic positivity I would never have gotten that bad. I can look back and cringe at that part of my past, but it doesn’t really excuse how shitty gaming fandoms are when it comes to this. For whatever reason it seems like gamers are some of the most likely to judge you just based on what you like/dislike and I know it happens with everything but it’s like with gaming it leads to insults and shit.

A story with Periodic Elements could be fun. Seperating the world into different levels for each energy level of elements, having the noble gases be the kings of each level, the nonmetals are in kingdoms because of covalent bonds and metals are solitary that capture nonmetals into their own form. Not sure how the story could go down, but having something about reactions or fusing would fit.
I've heard that movie got fucked by studio demands and shit, and that this one is about the author's experience with his love life as an immigrant or whatever, which does sound more interesting but of course we get none if that in the teaser, like I get not wanting to spoil the whole thing obviously, but refusing to at least properly introduce the premise and just fill the teaser with predictable visual gags in an urban setting like they didn't do this shit already in Soul, Onward, and Zootopia if we wanna count Disney too doesn't help making the film not look generic.
Good dinosaur had a lot of trouble production, and changed 2 or 3 times of director. Its not entireley his fault, he had to fix something already "broken" if u see what i mean.
People have to see it in the perspective of having grown up with Pixar in the 2000s. I imagine most of the people dunking on this film already are people around my age (23) who grew up with Pixar when it was in its prime (2001-2010). Each film was completely fresh and original apart from the Toy Story sequels. Each one is iconic and stands alone in its own way. So it's understandable why people are getting fed up with very similar movies from Pixar each year.
That's the thing, right? I get the impression that people don't even really hate this trailer, they're just kind-of disinterested. But because Pixar fans are so vocal and aggressive about people liking the thing, it's pushing people into being more frustrated and doubling down. Like this isn't going to be an Emoji movie, it's not going to be terrible. It just feels really bland and forgettable, and in a way that's almost worse than being bad to some people because at least something bad gets talked about. I feel like this film is going to come out, it'll have maybe a few days of discourse, then it'll be gone and nobody will really care. And I feel like the hard Pixar stans are going to fucking HATE that!
To be fair they have been reusing this "what if X thing was a world with people" in almost every movies setting since the start. Toy Story is what if toys were people, Bugs Life is what if bugs were people, Cars is what if cars were people, Finding Nemo is what if fish were people, Monsters Inc is what if monsters were people, etc, etc, ad nauseum.
@@NudeSophist Those aren't unique worlds, though, which is what helped them be more imaginative. Toy Story is just about toys that come alive, it's not about toys that go to their own unique toy world. They're out dealing with real situations that make sense for what they are. Same for Bugs Life, there's the 'big city' but it's not like that's just a special magic bug world or something, it's just made out of soup cans and other garbage, which is pretty neat. I feel like even Cars kind-of gets a pass here? It's not a great movie, but at least there's stuff specific to being a car that you can work with to make an interesting setting. I look at Elemental and it just feels like Soul, right? Because "What if afterlife" doesn't really give you much to go off of. I mean, I like Soul, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't want EVERYTHING to be like Soul, right? This just kind-of feels like they're out of ideas for things to anthropomorphize because we did animals, insects, vehicles, toys, robots, fish, dinosaurs, ghosts, emotions... dogs....... Monsters.....? I guess they could do urban legends or mythology? "What if Bigfoot but people"? I don't know what the right move is, but this just feels really bland because there's just nothing to work with in a "What if elements but people" film. You can't really make a house out of just water and have it look interesting and believable, right? It's not a great start for worldbuilding, I think.
I feel so bad for everyone who has incredible stories and work their lives to get to work for a company with long notoriety and so much money but they’re forced to work on the blandest, most common stories of this era just to make rent and eat … painful

the most interesting thing about the movie is that it might be Pixar's first romantic comedy. previews Pixar films like walle had romantic elements, but they were never the main plot.
@UCwF0Db3WEj9Pe0KxGFed-hw you could argue that, and it does have way more romance than even the average Disney princess movie. what i mean is that Elemental seems to be way more of a standard love story.
The subtext of "let people enjoy things" is essentially "everything is subjective, therefor no one can observe things in a critical way" Its an overarching ideal rather than a situational response.
Tbh everything is subjective isn’t entirely wrong because just how much you enjoy something is subjective, but there are definitely standards, as much as they are up for debate. You can enjoy a game with bad framerate, your enjoyment and having a good time is subjective and you can wax on about philosophy there, but is anyone going to argue 20FPS is good for a video game? It’s just really stupid messy semantics. Adum mentions a lot how you can enjoy bad things, and some people take that too personally. I agree it’s a blunt way for him to say it, but Adum is right about it honestly. And being blunt doesn’t really make it rude, and if he went on about it, then any resulting argument would go pretty much nowhere. Saying “everything is subjective” really is just people trying to avoid/shut down criticism when they can’t have a more mature conversation or realise the nuance there. Wether they’re really defensive, or just not that introspective, it’s dumb. It isn’t even very nuanced anyway. Edit: sorry if my reply is kinda harsh lol idrc random youtube comments.
I once saw a comment of one of these people defending Elemental, that guy/gal/whatever had the audacity to write "it's because of people like them that creativity is dying". There's so much to unpack from such idiotic sentence.
Can you imagine the potential edutainment value if they'd chosen the periodic table over the classical elements? Give kids their laugh while teaching them something, and give their parents a laugh with all the potential science kids won't get up front... But instead they went the lazy shovelware route because they know it'll still make money. How tragic.
How tf does that end up being approved for the final script? Element city feels like a place-holder name, so they can write the script , flesh out the story and then come up with some creative name.
Best case scenario, this film goes the complete opposite direction we expect it to. Instead of your typical, run of the mill "forbidden love" and "opposites attract" route, they go completely the other way by presenting a harmful and toxic relationship. Think about it, it is a fact that water and fire do not mix. Not figuratively, literally these two characters have the capacity to seriously harm each other. The very first interaction we see is the fire girl being hurt from the water dude's touch. Pixar has tackled mature themes before. I think it would be very unique and interesting to show the reality of a harmful relationship and when to recognize that a relationship is putting you out and walk away from it.
I can already imagine elements having societal problems with each other as a metaphor for racial discourse like it hasn't been done in last 500 animated movies.
$100 says the fire people are discriminated against because they're too destructive and Ember will be the one who changes that (she will be the only one to try in the last 10000 years)

and then they'll make the marginalized people actually have genetic or natural differences that give the majority a reason to be afraid of them which adds just a taste of eugenics into the film

I have a few theories as to why some people interpret contrary opinions as personal attacks: 1: They believe that if something they really like doesn't become super popular it won't make a lot of money and therefore they'll stop making more of that thing they like. Which is only sort of true, but plenty of things that have been largely panned by critics and casual viewers alike have had sequels and entire franchises. 2: They spend a lot of time on the internet, specifically social media. The vast majority of the user content of these sites consist of people's opinions on stuff, and the most visible ones are always the most extreme and negative/reactionary. So it is likely they've come across lots of hyperbolic negative opinions on That Thing They Like, maybe even a few making fun of fans like them, calling them childish, gullible, nostalgia-blind, etc. and they interpret that as a judgemental attack on their tastes and personal character.
I feel the latter is more accurate. It's not a calculated effort get more content. When it becomes a special interest or hyperfixation, the thing that is criticized starts feeling like a part of someone's identity (it's not really an identity but neurodivergence can often make it feel that way). I do think it is low to make judgements about the people who enjoy something. 'X fans must be childish and emotionally stunted if they think something like this is good.' Why would anyone feel the need to pick apart the people who enjoy something? Some people do take a leap in logic though and assume that picking apart the thing they like means they're shaming people for liking it. I've found 'I' statements on opinions help diffuse these kinds of situations a lot but there is definitely this unfair standard that hating on media is rude and hurtful when it really is just an inconsequential opinion.
@@privernd I’m neurodivergent myself and I enjoyed listening to people’s opinions on stuff online when I was a kid. And the thing you mentioned is literally what happened to me as a kid. The "quit having fun" meme is basically just the guy who gets dunked on but repeats "I'm not bothered, you're the one who's bothered" with tears in his eyes. Almost every time I see it it's in response to very normal criticism of a generally commercially popular product that people often don't hold to any kind of basic standard out of either nostalgia or generally low quality standards (the Pokemon community has this battle a lot). And it just feels like such a smug way to try and dismiss criticism as "trying to ruin people's enjoyment of a thing". I'm sorry but, if a handful of people voicing their criticism of something really makes you mad enough to make a passive aggressive meme about it, did you ever really like the product at all? Or did you like being in something you think is "universally liked" because you've got nothing else going on? Like, people criticize the hell out of the Danganronpa series, a lot, and I still love all of the games and even the canonical sequel anime that people hate. It's crazy how you can just...y'know...like something regardless of other people not liking it.
Dude I totally agree, but you know what? I absolutely love love love Skylanders and talking about that series is a shit show. The fandom itself sucks with a bunch of corrupt cliques, a shit ton of kids and everyone else hates the series. I don’t really know what my point is except that I know what being in a similar position is like and being called “cringe” and shit and tbfh life is too short to worry about that shit just because you like an unpopular game or something. It definitely sucks liking something so unpopular and being unable to share it with more than a handful of people but it would suck more getting in arguments over it. People who waste their time being so defensive over this shit… yeah well it just really is a waste of time imo and they need just suck up criticism, its a pixar movie so its going to be fine anyway. You can see the same thing in pokemon fans going after criticism, its very stupid and sad these people use so much time on this which genuinely is annoying and in extreme cases can be like harassment toward other people. I guess when a fandom/people are genuinely toxic and making bad faith arguments it gets more complicated, but those people won’t listen to genuine arguments anyway which I have seen with Skylanders because people are just fixated on one screenshot from 2011 and clearly know nothing about the series so they make the most idiotic arguments lmao. So I don’t really bother with the debate because those people won’t listen anyway. You have to know when to cut your losses

Feeling personally attacked by others opinions is a sign of insecurity. Meaning, deep down they know full well that the product is not that good, so they desperately try to deflect any kind of criticism by labeling it as "hate speech", but in reality they are in full denial. A pointless endeavour really, because at the end of the day, they are only delaying the inevitable next 8 stages of grief, considering the current state of Pixar's animations. "Pixar is copying Avatar" mfs when I tell them Last Airbender didn't invent the elements. (They don't know air, water, earth, and fire occur in nature).
At least Pixar made Plant and Earth different elements (because the one made of crystals is very clearly distinct from the plants) otherwise this would be even more lame
This movie releases 2 weeks after Across the Spiderverse, 1 week after Transformers 6, and the same week as The Flash Is Disney trying to tank their theatrical animation branches
With Disney Animation studio pretty much doing the 3D animations better than modern Pixar, there might be some truth to that. Maybe the corporate suits need a reason to axe one of their studios, because in their heads: "why keep two studios making basically the exact same thing?"
What I enjoy about the movie's concept is that the director, Peter Sohn, is making the movie based on his experiences being raised as a Korean immigrant in New York and the cultural clashes that came when dating someone who wasn't Korean. So yeah, it is a love story with race and diversity as a theme. Sorry for the people who think just because Zootopia had similar topics then it can't be done again because that's not creative enough... Even though this is a personal story that took 8 years in development and is being done by a man who was thankfully given another chance to make a movie at the studio after The Good Dionsaur turned out to be a box office and critical flop thanks to the coorporate interferance. Thankfully, this time it seems like he and his team were given enough time to make Elemental (and I personally enjoy that the film is taking a more stylized look in its element effects and character designs). Sorry again for the people who don't like the "Cal-Arts Style". I, and many others, can allow people to not be excited over this, but I also want those people to let the ones who are looking foward to the film (who aren't just doing it for it being Pixar) enjoy it as well without being grouped with the Disney simps just because this movie is under the corporation's umbrella. I also agree with Adam when he mentions that its too early to say anything about the film itself since it's just a teaser (also this isn't even a scene that'll appear in the film), and the story is a bit of a mystery other than "opposites react", but I bet we can all give it a chance and draw positive AND negative opinions on it as a film and not "just another Pixar movie".
I really don’t want to be that guy but Disney Pixar consistently consistently consistently makes movies about these kinds of forbidden loves and like each one has been straight.
@@umjammerlammy9993 i would agree with this statement if this case wasn't different. I do agree that Disney keeps pretending to be pro LGBTQIA and yet doesn't promote Strange World for being part of the community, and insisted that their "First Gay Characters" were super progressive while banning the mentions of their orientations on places like Russia and China to gain that dough. But, at least for me, the film's "Forbidden Love" story can work in the type of themes Peter Sohn wants to portray. I.e, those he experienced. And even though they are a straight couple, I don't think it will deminish other stories outside of Disney from creating more queer couples. I was gonna argue that since it's based on Sohn's own relationship with his wife that it would be logical for him to envision a straight couple... Although he does represent himself as a hot fire lady (as she's the odd one out in that society) so idk 👀
I mean, people *should* stop defaulting the animation Oscars to Disney/Pixar. The Academy is so dismissive of animation as a medium of film that they don't even bother watching the nominees, they just say "Whatever Pixar movie came out this year, I dunno."
I'm calling it now- there will be a scene where some character attends 'element-ary school'. Possibly a college or institute of higher learning. Certainly a major miss of a joke.
First impressions: - I like that they didn't give a plot synopsis. - Pixar shot themselves in the foot by choosing Avatar elements over the periodic table. All the background characters look the same. - Is "Element City" the best you could do? What about "Avogadro" or "Ario" or some other cool sounding chemistry pun? Similarly, you could've made "Track 2" into "Track 2p6" - I'm getting strong "not like the other girls" vibes from the main character. Hopefully, I'm wrong.
Elemental literally feels like a fake Pixar movie. It looks like its premise was spat out by an AI after feeding it the plot of all previous Pixar films.
7:35 Even though it may be going for the more general states of matter angle of elements, there seems to be a big focus in the art assets on the periodic elements as well. Even right after Adum says this it cuts to a subway map where instead of a map its the periodic table. Everything I've seen about this movie leading up to the trailer were the designs for the two main characters. I hope the setting is more exciting than "generic city".
Board member A: What if elements were like... people? Board member B: Sounds good to me, but what's the plot? Board member A: Like a love story? Or something? Board member B: Great! Let's do it!
This trailer feels so empty. From the moment Ember steps on the train I get what they’re going for. Then there’s like a full minute of basic, 2-second gags that raise more questions than answers about the actual physics of the world. And then about 5 seconds to tease the actual story. Also, having your movie about elements, called “Elementals,” take place in “Element City,” teases more about the creativity going into this story than I think they wanted to reveal this early.
Want to know something fun that many people seem to not know? Most combustion reactions actually create water as a byproduct. If you have a character that is made out of fire, they are literally just making water constantly.
I’d say it’s because she’s a bit stylised in terms of the fire, whereas the other elements all have a kind of hyper-realism texture to them. It looks jarring because she’s the only one with that effect.

I hate anybody who unironucally comments "Based" but at the same time I hate myself so,
Based.
There's this strange mentality where "positivity should be vocal, negativity should be silent." People who follow this line of thinking end up believing that if somebody is being critical, that it's "abusive" or mean-spirited because "if you don't like it, then you shouldn't invest any time thinking about it, which is why you shouldn't talk about it."
That then extends out.

Same for Bugs Life, there's the 'big city' but it's not like that's just a special magic bug world or something, it's just made out of soup cans and other garbage, which is pretty neat. That feels like the most paint-by-numbers idea for a Pixar movie possible
The subtext of "let people enjoy things" is essentially "everything is subjective, therefor no one can observe things in a critical way"
Its an overarching ideal rather than a situational response.
"Let people enjoy things"? Jokes on you, I enjoy being a hater
I reached a point in my life where, with few exceptions, every disney/pixar movie just melds together in my mind, cant tell them apart anymore
I've finally figured out what this movie looks like. It looks like a 3d platformer adaptation of a 2d animated film.
"Element City" is like if Zootopia was called "Animal City". Big first draft energy.
I want to work for the studios just so I can upload a trailer in 144p and see what Adum does.
This feels like an AI wrote a concept for pixar using its previous movies.
AI would do better than this.
I can already imagine elements having societal problems with each other as a metaphor for racial discourse like it hasn't been done in last 500 animated movies.
$100 says the fire people are discriminated against because they're too destructive and Ember will be the one who changes that (she will be the only one to try in the last 10000 years)
@@Keygentlemen that or it will be like an interracial relationship slander, fire and water cant be together, it just doesn’t work. Or something like that
I'm 99% sure that's where they are going with it but I really hope to be wrong because it's just... stupid. Water and fire literally cannot mix, not just because of society, but because of PHYSICS ._.
and then they'll make the marginalized people actually have genetic or natural differences that give the majority a reason to be afraid of them which adds just a taste of eugenics into the film
@@alexiss5807 I've recently read that the director is Korean, and said on the interview that elemental reflects how he felt living in America as a Korean so... 99% sure it's going to be another metaphor animated movie about a race lol.
I swear this movie was made off that Tumblr comic I've seen a million times about the water boy loving the fire girl, but they're uncompatible due to their nature, but they try to make it work or something.
Works alright in a comic, but in a movie it sounds downright painful.
My big takeaway is just how good Kevin Temmer Tunes is. I only saw this trailer once when I went to see Puss in Boots so when I saw your thumbnail, I thought you included his video as an extra little goof. Highly recommend seeing Kevin's stuff, excellent animator! Oh, and the movie's okay I guess. I'm not excited for it. (Elemental is okay, I mean. The new Puss in Boots is great)

I have a few theories as to why some people interpret contrary opinions as personal attacks:
1: They believe that if something they really like doesn't become super popular it won't make a lot of money and therefore they'll stop making more of that thing they like.
(Combine that with a low self esteem and you got some issues) I grew out of it but I still feel the need to hide the stuff I enjoy sometimes out of fear that the person I’m talking to would think less of me. This basically comes from my neroudivergence and general anxiety. I’m much better about it now but it was difficult to get rid of

It’s almost as if redditors try to enjoy everything vicariously through what they see on reddit
Reminds me of one video talking about modern Star Wars fans and how they made the brand part of their core personalities and any criticism of a movie is like a personal attack to their very selves. They can't just like or dislike a movie anymore.

I need a layman’s breakdown of the psychology motivating Disney adults and why they identify so strongly with a corporation that they feel the need to go way out of their way to defend its products like this. I’ve never seen someone do this with Pepsi or McDonald’s so I’m wondering what makes someone stan a media conglomerate like this.
In the era of VHS/DVD some families just slapped on Disney movies as the easy babysitter they could trust to be safe and inoffensive. Thus those people grew up with a deep love for Disney. I'm just worried about the zoomer generation and gen alpha, when they grow up are they going to identify strongly with cringe TH-camrs and Chinese content farm videos?
@@SamuelCatsy I think this gets pretty close to explaining it. See also the Nintendo stans who are now hyped for the Mario movie because the trailers blew away everyone's rock-bottom expectations.
Some people (most) never grow up to develop their tastes, just idly sitting back and reexperiencing the same shit that once was unique and new to them. Low standard people with no barometer for quality. There's a reason they made so many transformers movies, it's cause dipshits kept going to watch them. I think people Stan this shit cause it's all they know, and they get offended when being informed that they just aren't that nuanced in their opinion to understand that their taste is trash.

You can already tell it's going to be a plot that doesn't actually use the concept of the world and will just be the typical "romeo and juliet" crap we've seen a thousand times. Maybe we'll see some visual gags and set pieces, but the actual story won't change.
I hate Disney as much as the next guy but I've not seen anyone be defensive about people not liking this trailer. Most people have just disliked the teaser from what I've seen.
With Disney Animation studio pretty much doing the 3D animations better than modern Pixar, there might be some truth to that. Maybe the corporate suits need a reason to axe one of their studios, because in their heads: "why keep two studios making basically the exact same thing?"
5:48 HE SAID THE LINE!

It’s just so stagnant at a point
So character design has regressed from simple shapes to just lighting effects and shaders?
Since day one I've been saying at best it'll be visually interesting because the concept of the plot itself just seems very basic.

First impressions:
- I like that they didn't give a plot synopsis.
- Pixar shot themselves in the foot by choosing Avatar elements over the periodic table. All the background characters look the same.
- Is "Element City" the best you could do? What about "Avogadro" or "Ario" or some other cool sounding chemistry pun? Similarly, you could've made "Track 2" into "Track 2p6"
- I'm getting strong "not like the other girls" vibes from the main character. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Even though it may be going for the more general states of matter angle of elements, there seems to be a big focus in the art assets on the periodic elements as well. Even right after Adum says this it cuts to a subway map where instead of a map its the periodic table. Everything I've seen about this movie leading up to the trailer were the designs for the two main characters. I hope the setting is more exciting than "generic city".

I hope there isn't another botched allegory where water and fire represent different races
The director already confirmed it's a race allegory
Want to know something fun that many people seem to not know? Most combustion reactions actually create water as a byproduct. If you have a character that is made out of fire, they are literally just making water constantly.
I'm actually unironically really excited to see this movie, it looks so good!
The animation style is... Interesting. I can't explain it, but the fire chick seems almost unfinished compared to the others.
I’d say it’s because she’s a bit stylised in terms of the fire, whereas the other elements all have a kind of hyper-realism texture to them. It looks jarring because she’s the only one with that effect.
He loves the word moist, its who he is.
I’m calling it right now, there will be a scene where the main characters fight and break up before reuniting later for the climax.
